  1. Thats a 930hp turbo. These things are known to punch above their weight, are you sure E85 would only see 650? Correct me if I am wrong but PJ has gone 850whp from a similarly sized unit from a 2L on E85? im not suggesting 730 on pump is whats to be expected, but A: were talking US pump 93, not skip land pump 98 and B: were talking a US result. US results are always higher than ours, no matter what.
  2. Could be the 1.15 rear end, its a big exhaust wheel as it is so the need for the largest possible housing is debatable. To OP: are you sure you have enough gate for that setup? I would have wanted 50mm at minimum for a single gate on that setup, I wouldnt be scared of a 60mm either.
  3. I dont think he did an internal gate TD06, that would be interesting. Into one of his RB specific housings, might sell well with the billet 20g wheel. Stao you should set one up just to see. Im sure that you are capable of profiling the housing to suit, after all your FNT experience!
  4. If you open your eyes, you will see that his exact words were that a china manifold will produce a better result and that the $500 outlay is not worth the gains. Stao has clearly said he WILL NOT be selling those manifolds. I suggest that you apologise to Stao, because you are clearly coming off rude and it is really uncalled for. Stao built that manifold for the benefit of the SAU community, and he himself admitted it cost too much for the benefit it gave.
  5. As he said himself, the benefit was less than that of a china manifold and he wont be providing that option to people.
  6. the kandos will be like trust T518Z 8cm's, identical in performance. probably will be a happy medium between -5s and -10s. will require custom dumps and intae pipes $$$$
  7. but you said there are no breather hoses or bov pipes hooked up? So it cant be from there. Unless were all confused now?
  8. has it ever had breather hoses connected? How dirty is the K&N? as said above they are oil based and you wouldnt want to over lubricate them. If its dirty it could be getting passed the paper element. is there much build up in the cooler pipes? That will give you a better indication of where its coming from.
  9. +1 how long is a piece of string. Have seen plenty of blown RB26s that were still in mostly factory trim (stock turbos, stock tune, etc). I personally wouldnt put 600whp through one and expect it to last very long at all. My personal feeling for a limit on these things is 500whp, and I'd put a very forgiving 30,000 km life on it at most (street driving with some fun here and there). Some people will have seen more, most would have seen less. Thats just my opinion from reading countless posts and knowing people who have built such setups.
  10. What do you mean by a highmount T28? T28 is the stock turbo off a S14 and S15, you dont need to highmount these. Doing so will gain you 0rwkw and maybe even lose you response. What brand is this 'highmount T28' ?? Is this an ebay special kit? Maybe the oil is coming from the turbo's super special seals?
  11. Thanks mate! Ron: the SR is good for about that 280-300kw mark. Its just about control factors. If on 98 a little ping will do a lot of pop at that level, but if tuned safely (like on E85) they are pretty OK. For reference my 'built motor' is nothing but a refreshed stocker with forged pistons. Im reusing the crank and rods and aiming for a motor that will never see more than 350 even if I do go crazy in the long run. It will probably never see over 300 in reality.
  12. Thanks mate, appreciate the input. I agree with your thoughts mostly, yet wheel design wise I think the TD06SL2 20g would be more responsive than the 3071. The 3071 I think are a heavier rotating assy which needs more energy to drive, so the 20g is more of a winner there. What continually makes me reconsider my original plan of the 20g is two things: 1 people keep telling me to go a 3071, and despite my own strong opinions I can be a little bit of a sheep. 2 I am worried I will end up wanting MOAR and being stuck with a fairly low ceiling with either of the above, hence considering the PT. Ive still got time to decide as im still part way through building my block, but changes are the little 20g will be it. If nobody else can sway me that is haha. Look forward to your results.
  13. I hope you realise the 5558 and 5858 are physically the same size... its the wheels that are different (internal parts). LOL sorry to bust your dreams man... To SRS13: it still sounds reasonable, but the 5558 would probably be the better choice for me. I am trying to get the thing on full song by 4k and am a simple 86.5mm build. I do have the cams and a 6boost so my setup should work well... but im just worried the turbo itself is too big. If I did want your 3071 I would be chasing it just to change the rear housing to a T3 and use it on my setup, yeah.
  14. full boost between 3900 and 4500 is pretty good expectation TBH, especially for the power goals. What did he say it would be like getting onto boost? and are these figures on 98 or E85? BTW do you want to sell your 3071?
  15. lol wow what an audience. Give me a break guys, since deciding to build my motor in June Ive come a fair way. Im pretty torn between a TD06 and a PT but given the circumstances I think Im allowed to be a LITTLE indecisive Once Im done putting the block together Ill let you guys peer pressure me into the snap decision but for now Ive got to funnel the money into the important bits first LOL give me a few months longer to finish the block and then well talk After all I am now on a joint account dollar diet, trying to save for a mortgage n all LOL!
  16. What made him believe it was 'for you'? Can you tell me more about this decision?? I have a T3 highmount setup SR also
  17. LOL considering im still waiting on parts to arrive for my block build, I should be forgiven You know I do put my money where my mouth is, once I'm in that position lol
  18. lol he must just block assholes TBH. hes always replied to me also, even when there has been an issue that ive raised.. Ive never been a prick to the guy tho, always make a reasonable request and say thanks bla bla bla. Not sure if ill be getting a kando again yet, havent decided on the fate of my setup yet. Going to pick turbo last.
  19. End of august he said. He better not run out of non surge 20g covers anytime soon!
  20. wait where was ford on this one? they come stock with a 3576 nowadays. you guys are jokers lol
  21. 6766 is massive lol nearly a kilo of ponies man, what the fek haha Any idea where to find the sheet for said HTA Failcon? I am considering a barra swap into something atm
  22. Somebody really needs to put something like a 6466 on a barra.. SOMEBODY
  23. If you read the thread you will have the answers. but no they do not have a bolt on turbo, if you want a bolt on get a hypergear.
  24. if u do go internal gate, get a T25 based one (the SR20 type) as the T3 ones SUCK. You will then need to get a T3-T2 adapter and make a dump to suit. that being said, i dont think it would end up that much more expensive to just go external gate TD05H 18G T3 8cm. HOWEVER, if talking making that sort of power your probably BEST off just getting your stock turbo rebuilt by hypergear. it will work out cheaper and the chances are you will get better results as you can tell him exactly what you are after, no hidden surprises. you say i want full boost by X and this much power, he will tell you what he can make to meet your targets or how close you can get to your targets with which turbo.
