[Closed] Borg Warner Efr Series Turbos
GTScotT replied to Lithium's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
correct me if Im wrong but your running a HKS lowmount T3 split pulse manifold with a T3 split pulse housing? Micks is the OEM manifold with a .83 T3 open internal gate, which would make it a very difficult comparison to make IMO -

the GTX .82 should have helped top end power over the GT's .63 if anything. agree that was also a disappointing discovery. I wonder what would happen if Mick put a garden variety GT3071 in his and back to backed it at unigroup... now that would be interesting. weve been saying the GTX3071 seems to be the pick of the bunch, but i dont know of any well setup eflex tuned 3071s (on an RB25) to compare it to... so hmm. -

Someone should download that perrin site before they take it down. very informative, very cool. for sure the 7163 is the pick of the bunch for the lower power bracket.. but i was a little heart broken when they overlayed the 3076R against it, sure the boost stood up earlier but the difference in power and torque wasnt amazing. disappointed there -
keeping heat inside the exhaust housing is a good thing, and coating the comp housing would probably effect very little so its all good. very nice looking setup

well know how many revs it is if we know where the run ends.. speed and RPM are always relative. you will do double the speed at double the revs in the same gear etc. nice comparo too i cant wait to pop a 20G on my SR
-
the way i worked it out was its probably revving to about 7000, maybe a bit less like most ppl do... the graph doesnt show RPM but it does show rod speed.. so if 180kmh is close to 7000, 90kmh is close to 3500. its a few rpm off but close enough, boost is definitely well and truly on before 4000. a good achievement.

T67 on a neo with cams, was on the prior page

thats on boost at something like 3500! nice mate. i would definitely be happy with that

Its a little hard to say let him get back on his feet and do right IMHO. Not when its clear the guy has been taking peoples money and using it for his own pleasures, rather than completing the job and using the profit for that like he should.. Ill go into a little further detail here, I can see no evidence of financial hardship when the bloke is posting about having picked up BMW running gear in March, putting an RB26 in his BMW in April, deciding he would use TD04 turbos on his RB26 AND verbalizing that he had made cooler pipes and started on the exhaust in late April. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/385788-rb25-into-a-bmw-coupe/page__hl__rb26%20bmw__st__80 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/397508-rb26-turbo-doing-my-head-in/page__hl__rb26+bmw__fromsearch__1 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/397617-single-afm-on-a-rb26/page__p__6313776__hl__rb26%20bmw__fromsearch__1#entry6313776 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/398275-td04-turbos-on-a-rb26/page__st__40__p__6328509__hl__rb26%20bmw__fromsearch__1#entry6328509 There is only so much sympathy I can have for the person. BSA has bitten back at me in the past for having ruined his business and so on because I had said a job he did may have been the cause of an issue someone had, but there is no excuse for this sort of activity. I myself have had SHITHOUSE dealings with BSA on more than one occasion. I recommended him to a friend who ended up with an exhaust that costed more than the original quote, was meant to be a TBE system but ended up a dump back, some of the hangers have since snapped off, it hangs an inch from the floor in some places (not effected by hangers) and was only welded on the underside of the pipes. IMHO Blake needs to give everyone their money back, stop trying to operate as a business and disappear into average life working a 9 to 5 and keeping to himself. I doubt anyone will think there is any worse advice than that.

That one is a POS mate, dont go near it. As discussed, external gate = kando, internal gate = hypergear (if you are price conscious) you could waste your time with this turbo, set it up as best as humanly possible etc, but i would put my money on it a simple stock turbo highflowed and tuned with a TBE and FMIC (not even injectors or Z32) would beat the pants off it. Hypergear is probably the best way to go, he can also bundle an ecu with the turbo which is map sensor based, so you wont need an AFM when you go for your retune. Cant argue with that!
-
you just implied exchanging cash for kasko and the words 'strap' and 'on' were in the same sentence..... hypergear just became NSFW

^ MORE BOOST!!1!

PM me with a price if you want battery, Ill keep it in mind ARTZ, im pretty sure i was originally telling you to get them yeah... But you concluded that you wanted something better, I more or less didnt disagree with you. I mean id rather ID's to them also, its just about simplicity and cost with a side of quality.
-
they are known quality though, so i wont fuss over how their made. realistically it comes down to the process done to create them. if they have the pintle cap removed or have been drilled out then yeah.... dodgey... but highflow can also mean internals removed and replacement parts put in. maybe the high cost of making side feed injectors is in manufacturing the bodies ETC... and you can cheaply replace the internal parts of an existing injector to create a good one (rebuild style highflow). Im not saying this is or isnt the case... im just saying based on their track record of proven results Im willing to give them benefit of the doubt.
-
Legend! That's exactly what I needed. Going to put up my 555s tonight.
-
Its not his obligation, and i still applaud the mans work through and through, but that was my opinion. VIC might be lucky (and full of fags ) but NSW and WA are suffering without a reasonable ethanol supply at this stage. Anyway lets not get into it. Believe me I WANT E85...... It would save me the rebuild im in the middle of right now.. But it aint happening quick enough to warrant letting my car sit around unused or half tuned for ages.
-
If only they were side feeders i would be onto it
-
ah k. what brand 1200s r u gonna run? powertune are doing 1200s drop in for the SR, supplied and fitted for $660. pretty tempting for me too, but im not sure what brand they are (fear they might be highflows of some sort).
-
Yeah, lets showcase how good a turbo runs on ethanol when 95% of the customer base is running 98.
-
ID2000s or bust lol
-
ahh right. which cams are they? BC 262s? Has it got adjustable gears that they will dial?
