Somebody should email Eiji a link to this thread. I wonder if the amount of business he would lose would bother him. This sort of thing is putting him into the cheap chinese basket when we previously considered Kando to be a good value item. Its now looking like their QA is dropping off something massive, and has me worried. Whenever I consider a new setup for myself or a friend, I always consider a Kando product first. But I am not liking this change. MAYBE, just maybe, the reason why QA seems to be dropping off is attributed to the fact Kamak are selling their own product (for more than double what Kando do).

Hks Evc Diy Repair If You Dare :)
GTScotT replied to ZimNismoBoy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Good job mate! I have had 2 of these EVC's, one was a 5 and it didnt work properly for sh*t. The other was an EVC 4 which actually worked fine, until I sold it and the new owner couldnt get any love from it at all. I hate them with a passion, but its good to see you have found a way to at least repair them when they fail. -
Simon what is that tool and how does it work? Do you use that to degree cams without fiddlef**king on the dyno? Do not. Understand! Want to. Understand!

Gtx3076R Pick My Tune Apart Please
GTScotT replied to Selleck 34GTT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The peak power is fine for it on the said boost and .63, no issues there. The midrange IS a little lacking, and you didnt have a crumby tuner do it for you. Id probably look at getting a .82 and try run more boost if its possible. The GTX turbos arent necessarily going to keep up with a GT variant if at 'sane' boost levels. -
Yeap. Every time I do a turbo on my own or another car I get lots and lots of smoke as it burns off my grubby paw prints. Just make sure you are checking for liquid leaks. No leaks, no worries, let it keep running.

Gtx3076R Pick My Tune Apart Please
GTScotT replied to Selleck 34GTT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Why is it that unigroup dyno sheets always make things look like they are really responsive? if you check out the below page, theres a pretty ordinary SR20 with a 3071R doing 200kw @ 4000rpm and 285kw peak which also lookslike its on boost for the entire run. I doubt its THAT great on the road. compare it to the lower graph and its only 200rpm off a T28. to OP, its a little ordinary.. wants E85 and 25psi boost. -
All new valves through the head and a general service. Put it back together with the new RB30 bottom end you suggested and have it retuned. You dont need to have an RB25 for the setup you described. It will be a different outcome from 25 to 30 but I think the added torque will be a good thing in terms of lag. You should be happier than before. Props, sounds like a nice car.

Thats what I call a happy ending.

High Mount T04 Turbo To Much Lag! :( Wanna Change
GTScotT replied to Samgrainger32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It doesn't sound like the current setup is any good mate. Do lots and lots of reading if you can, the answers are all here. It sounds like you might need to start from scratch in some aspects, or at least get a real ECU for it. A nistune is probably your cheapest option in terms of being effective. I recommend you see a decent tuner and ask them what they see in the car, they will know whats going on and will be able to make some suggestions regarding where to go from here. Just ask for their advice first and see what they can offer. If your in NSW I recommend you go see DVS JEZ, he will work out whats in the car and send you on the right path. Can do your tuning and supply/fit/tune a Nistune for a great price. -

High Mount T04 Turbo To Much Lag! :( Wanna Change
GTScotT replied to Samgrainger32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
My best recomendation is to work out exactly what is done to that car, if it is tuned and how it is running ETC. If its definitely a T3 flange turbo we will be able to recommend a great alternative which will make the car get up and boogie, BUT we really wouldnt want to give that advice unless the car is properly set up for that sort of thing. If its literally running the stock ECU at the moment then your not in for a good time whether you change the setup or not. You will either need to go and do all the required upgrades to proceed or return it to a stock turbo like Ash said. Please properly look into what the car is running and get back to us. -

GTScotT replied to bri73y's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
There is no way I would pass up the chance to run that in a car, IF it fit. Consider that 370kw is going to be instantaneous with that motor, the power threshold for a car as drivable as what you were planning will be a lot higher. Put simply, if I wanted a 300kw setup I would probably stick to an RB25, if I wanted 400kw I would go to a 3L 6. If I wanted 500kw I would then look at something like the Barra. Reason why is keeping the car drivable. Consider that the big bad barra is going to have an undrivable character if running a fully tuned HTA 35R as aposed to a 3L at the same tune level. I have however been toying with the concept of a 3788 or 86HTA barra myself, but I would put that in a heavier 80 series supra to keep it on the road -

Sam, please confirm the following details and we will be able to help you pick a suitable replacement (keep the highmount setup IMO, why not). - What flange is your current turbo? T3 open, T4 open, T4 twin scroll? - Is it external gate? If so is the gate working properly? IE holding boost properly ETC. - What motor is this bolted to and do you have the rest of the supporting mods? IE tuned/tunable ecu, bigger injectors, fmic/tbe etc. Give us this info and we will be able to help you pick a better turbo (rather than referring you back to a stock item only to need to upgrade again later when your bored). No offense to any posters with this comment either. Thanks, -

John I guarantee the well thought out budget car will always make you smile while the no expense spared one will continue to break your heart. Its ALWAYS like that. Thats why I appreciate cars like the R33, where they are a well sought package needing little more than minor upgrades to be a good well rounded car. Anyway, this will be an interesting thread over time Im sure! -
Rb20 Spools As Though Brakes Are Held On
GTScotT replied to ae86 boy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
No wonder mine started doing it as soon as i put the smaller turbo on. You bad boy you. -
do it george, back to back! settle the debate for everyone, just 2 power runs and some tooling

Hes commented on it before, he uses the exact same product on his own car and doesnt have an issue. I wonder if it can be bettered, I dunno really. Its an oddly shaped dump.
