  1. Hey mate, it definitely is a looonngggg thread with lots and lots of info, yet everything you want to know has been covered many times over. Just to recap for you: we are only considering the TD06L2-20G 10cm or the T67-25G 10cm on an RB25 in all scenarios. The IW housings are a crap and arent stacking up even when trying to improve them. You will need to run an external gate on an RB sized turbo, we recommend the tial 44mm gate as per SimonR32. If you are running a 4 banger you can go to the TD05H-18G in the SR20 spec housings, these do work and net around the 240kw mark. For your goal of a zippy 270kw you should be looking at the TD06L2-20G 10cm with a small spacer and hung off the standard manifold. I recommend you hang the gate off the rear housing. Alternatively, Hypergear has an excellent internal gate option called the SS1PU. It does not have the same 'scope' as the 20g (20g looks like it could be stretched to 300kw) but it does have the ZIP you are after. Please have a read of this thread start to end, you will understand more than what you need to know to make an informed decision.
  2. FYI in car audio type noise measurement (SPL), at the 90db mark every additional 3db is considered to be 'twice' as loud. So 4db is a pretty decent drop, get a muffler as a hot dog will just tone it down a little but probably still read similar.
  3. Who would have thought: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/12142-need-insurance-want-cheaper-insurance/page__st__840__p__6276224__hl__insurance__fromsearch__1#entry6276224
  4. that kit is not for a skyline turbo, skylines use hitachi not garrett dont even bother rebuilding the skyline turbo
  5. are they vietnamese? if so I think I know who they are and their work
  6. What I mean is, you ask the tuner can you come back with a new dump and cooler and he gives it a go. If it doesnt give INSTANT improvements that he sees worth while, you pay him for his time and not for the full retune (as he didnt do a full retune). Then you continue on that road until he is satisfied you have fixed the issue. Once the car hits the rollers and seems to be 'fixed' he can then go hard and tune it for all its worth, and you pay the appropriate fee. All im suggesting is that you protect yourself from the cost of a retune when it doesnt seem to have changed. Theres no point paying him to sit there for 5 hours going yep.... still the same....
  7. Thanks for your input but the post was directed at coppycutter.... Your results and methods are fine. Chill
  8. If your running out of fuel, then you should change your pump. Changing the pump wont make it more ping resistant unless your literally running lean, that should have been discussed earlier if its the case as I dont even know why your going there now. Is it not possible for you to get the tuner on side and get some extra dyno time to have this sorted without paying through the nose? If so you can then BORROW a cooler from another member and whack it on to see if it makes a difference. Dont lop up your bar or anything, leave it off. Etc Etc Etc. That dump definitely has to go through. Its really not going to take much time to strap the car on the dyno and add some timing before saying, nup not fixed or yep this worked lets keep tuning. Have a chat to the tuner. Otherwise yeah take his advise alone, he knows best.
  9. Bandaid's are good when your a child, seeing something cover the wound makes you feel better like its not even there but the truth of the matter is the bandaid aint fixing sh*t. In your case E85 would be a bandaid. Your not making the right power on 98, so why try mask it with E85? First fix your 98 problem then consider do you want more from 98? I would not expect a G3 to do sub 270kw, otherwise somethings up.
  10. ^ and you have first hand experience with them all? lol in all seriousness, large shops (regardless of good or bad) are always busy with lots of work. a couple of days is hardly a poor effort.
  11. I think we should have the dori dori's results today, am I right?
  12. In red, yes. Otherwise, every heard the song that goes 'he's got hiiiiighhh hopes, he's got high in the skyyyy.....' LOL In all seriousness, if it was a near new kit it might fetch 600 if it was a 1-2000 kit new. Condition and new price really pay a major factor, id certainly not pay 600 for a used ARC kit unless it was worth double that new AND was still in excellent condition. Just putting it out there.
  13. PM hypergear on this site, he can sort you out. if its just the manifold to turbo gasket you need its just an ordinary T3 gasket
  14. Its good to be consistent in what we talk about dude.. Try to remember an ARC cooler goes for 1-2000 dollars new, its not exactly apples and apples when you think of it that way. Long story short, ARC are a fu*king good cooler.
  15. Im not sure about that, i think its the same as their 3" cover but with a 2.4" neck. Thanks for sharing btw
  16. yeah its fine dont touch it. nothing worth worrying about.
  17. Yeah, TBH ive never had a problem with 91 in a falcodore. 91s hit list has been mostly nissan, toyota and honda. Pulsars, Corollas, Tidas, Echos, Celicas, Civics, that sort of thing and yes I have fixed a lot of bad injectors as a result of 91. Either way I classify 91 as piss and think anyone would have to be stupid to use it in anything. Your call.
  18. And replace your blocked injectors every 10,000ks lol Honestly most family of mine who do not listen to me about the perils of 91 end up coming to me asking why their car runs like a lawn mower. Its ALWAYS a blocked injector, no matter how new the car is. Just sayin'
  19. Hold the gasket to it and see how intrusive it is beyond the gasket. If its massive build up then maybe, but its not going to effect the performance in the reality of the matter.
  20. I wont go into too much detail re the cooler, but its been documented elsewhere that they suck when trying to reach 300rwkw. And your making such a noob assumption on the dump pipe, the split dumps normally cause boost control issues when the wastegate flapper fouls on the divider or flange itself. I dont know how else to describe it to you.. The back of the G3 turbo is completely open. It has an odd jellybean shaped outlet identical to the OEM dump pattern. You are using a split dump without the divider, because obviously the divider doesnt fit. Unbolt your dump and you will see the problem, the gas comes out of the back of the turbo and more or less hits a wall, except for the small round holes for the dump and wastegate tubes. Dump pipes 101 is that the exhaust gas EXPANDS extremely rapidly as soon as it exits the back of the turbo. This is why there are good gains to be had in running 3.5-4" dumps even if your system is only 3". That being said, the gas comes out the back of your turbo, into the empty area in the flange plate (and is trying its best to expand right about now) and then it has to find its way through little exhaust tubes that have a flat solid face around them. There is nothing directing the gas flow into that part of the pipe, some of the gas luckily will go straight into the tube and the rest will crash against the flat surface of the dump flange. That then pressurizes the area and the gas will forcibly find its way down the dump tube. I think thats your main problem. The flat surface concept applies to the turnflow cooler also, they just arent aerodynamic enough for what they are IMHO. Someone back me up please.
  21. In case you need help: http://justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=18178&cat=&page=1 http://justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=16910&cat=&page=1
  22. 1. these are your problems. you have an open flanged turbo venting to an open void, and then its meant to somehow divide itself into your split dump? Ofcoz its pinging... Its got a restriction and a half right there. Those turn flow coolers are also known to be crap. 2. E85 isnt going to fix anything unless you address point 1 first. Recommendation: Sell your turnflow, sell your split dump, buy a JJR bellmouth and a standard 600x300x76 cross flow cooler kit. I am confident this will get you rocking.
  23. Hiding from you, Ronald.
  24. Bluefin. Similar to the cobb port on R35s
  25. Hey mate, I dont think it would be too big. Possibly the smallest id run to be honest. Yet I dont have any first hand experience with a remote mount, maybe it needs something different. GL
