  1. Awesome.. fight mine! http://wogan.mybrute.com/
  2. going into the repairs i didn't know it was going to be this expensive (and neither did they) .. so it's not all the garage's fault.. i'm not going to name them because i don't want to seem to be spreading bad press. It was just a normal garage (not a specialist in jap imports or high performance cars) Obviously in hindsight i would love to go back and just get an rb25 .. but what's done is done.
  3. Just got my car back after 2 weeks at the garage... perfect excuse to go for a nice long drive. hopefully i pull up ok after tonight's party.
  4. metal was definitely not from my car, and best bet of the garage is still that it once came off a piston... must have been in there since before i bought the car... weird. 4500 was 24 new valves and valve seats, and a full recondition of the head. a few new hoses and bits n pieces while it as off.. new inlet and head gaskets.. new oil and a few other things i can't think of right now... but yeah.. most of the $$ was labour..
  5. got the car back today (finally) ... $4500 later my car is driving great, but my wallet is completely empty.. someone wanna lend me $50 so i can put some petrol in it? if i had knew it'd cost that much i'd have looked into buying an rb25...
  6. +1 for AFM
  7. i'll try and get pics next time i drop in at the garage.. They're curved bits or metal (like they came off a pipe) but one side is oil stained, which is why they think it's part of a piston.. my pistons are all in top condition... and even if it did come off them (which it didn't) .. there's no way it could get into the other side of the intake valves... the edges of the pieces of metal are smooth, so i figure they didn't break off recently.. they've been there a while...
  8. ok, so as a couple of you know, after giving the car a good fang at AHG the other week, my car started running on 5 cylinders.. Turned out i had a valve sticking open.. i thought it would be the usual lacquer build up on the stems.. but after the garage took the head off, they found 2 x 20 cent sized peices of metal which were slightly larger than the intake shafts to the valves.. but one of them had been forced into the shaft far enough to stop a valve in cylinder 1 from closing... Both the garage i took it to, and the place they're getting to recon the head believe the metal is peices of a piston!! ... but not from a piston in my car!!?! so who know's how the hell it got in there (and how long it's been in there) ... weird sh!t.. good news is once it's recon'd it should be running much better than before this went wrong.
  9. turns out i've got a valve sticking open in cylinder 1 .. looks like a recon for the head.. maybe a port and polish while i'm at it
  10. ooo... that's interesting because i can hear a strange "hwoo" noise as it idles, so a blown gasket is definitely a possibility
  11. awesome thanks mate. Seems so logical now you've explained it... all i could think was "f**k f**k, stupid car"
  12. personally i went for the series 1 r33 turbo.. the steel compressor wheel can take more pressure (i've heard the nylon wheels break if you try for 14psi or more).. also the op6 housing is larger and thus laggier on the little rb20 engine. apart from the turbo elbow you should be able to use all the original lines. easy install Once you've got it all in you should be getting around 240-250rwhp. i don't think they are bb turbos, but i have heard some people say they are.
  13. Hi everyone, After taking my car out on the skid pan yesterday i noticed my car would occasionally lose power and sound like it was farting.. it's doing it all the time now and i'm pretty sure i'm only running on 4 or 5 cylinders. My first guess of course is Coilpacks.. I've had a missfire under boost problem before (which turned out to be the CAS), but when i had the previous problem i araldited my coils because i heard it was a good way to fix leaking coils (as it's a good insulator). My spark plugs are NGK iridiums gapped to 0.9mm and they've done under 15,000k's. My oxygen sensor in the exhaust isn't reading overly lean or rich that i've noticed... So my question is. How do i diagnose if it is the coils (or something else for that matter)?

    Black Stig

well since the white stig's identity was revealed this year (though i refused to read it), they could be bringing him back next season. naming the stig is worse than spoiling the end of a movie.. it ruins the fun

    Black Stig

you're right.. that is awesome! they even had him missing 1 glove (coz the 1 glove is all they ever found after he went off the carrier)
  16. mods? tuned?
  17. wgmg - bad drivers. the end.
  18. yeah wasn't sure if it eats silicone.. i know it eats most rubbers. (insert fellatio joke here ) but yeah.. get the proper hose, cause the one you've cut is a fuel line, not the manifold pressure to the fuel pressure regulator.
  19. that looks like your return line which goes back to the fuel tank. Might be worth picking up some rubber fuel lines. The silicone will do for a temp job since this line shouldn't be under much pressure.
  20. <- contains fuel Not sure which line you cut mate. If it's one of your fuel lines then would should probably get the correct hose, otherwise if it's the little hose that connects to your pressure regulator from the intake manifold then silicone is fine (though i'd be concerned it had fuel in it)
  21. Why put a 2nd hand pump in? .. Because it's more than capable. There's no need to put a 500hp fuel pump in a car with less than half that... You could spend $200 + on a pump, but a $50 one will be just as good... and it's an easy install. There's plenty of GTR's out there who have replaced their pumps because they are chasing big power numbers, and if you've got a lightly modded rb20, then the GTR's old pump is a great mod. But hey, if money isn't an issue for you then go all out.
  22. if you only have minimal mods then you could pick up a 2nd hand GTR pump pretty cheap and it'd be more then enough. Plenty of 32s are using them (check out the rb20 power figure registry in the forced induction section)
  23. depending on location and price, i'd probably use it. My final tune i got done was on a 40 degree day, so i'd be interested to see how much the heat cost me on my power run.
  24. haha.. yeah we all plan to "leave it at that" ... 7 grand later... it's addictive... suspensions mods will come soon.
  25. some pics in the event thread. Here more will trickle in over time.
