  1. I'll swap to morning Session.. gives me a chance to get to the pub early in the afternoon.. haha!
  2. damn nice man.. you're halfway to my dream car.... RWD R32 with rb26dett and the BEE*R kit:
  3. Yeah, the more events on the skidpan / track the better.. I'm assuming this is the skid pan. After completing this one, the drivers are eligible for the tuning days on the full track yeah?
  4. you paused? .. i'm still hard at it .. PM sent
  5. glad it's all better.. nothing makes panda's sad more than an injured skyline. post up some pics in the show n shine thread
  6. well i went in for a dyno run to find out if it was the cat, but ended up spending 2 hours working out why my car was running like crap (turns out my AFM died on the way to the shop).. i've decided to "increase the flow" in my cat and i can feel an improvement. Hopefully put it back on the dyno soon and see for certain whether the problem is fixed. But the general consensus i've read is that the ceramic hi-flow cats aren't much better than the standard cat, where as the metal internal cats are good (but may not meet legal requirements).
  7. Mate it's your car so you can do what you like to it, but as you can see from the posts above, the skyline guys n gals aren't much into the whole neon thing. Oh, and welcome to the forums
  8. damnit... couldn't make it last time and i'm going to be away for this one. Maybe i'll just cruise to your sisters shop by myself sometime.
  9. it'll fit and run.. but you won't get very effective cooling / air flow.
  10. what's the difference between rb25 and rb25neo turbos? .. i've tried searching but can't find any info.. are they both ball-bearing nylon compressor wheel?
  11. holy turbo-lag batman!
  12. hmm.. that's an interesting situation you have there then... Not sure i can be much assistance then.. all i know is that in my case, the cause of the additional boost was the wastegate not opening fully. Best of luck Tezzah!
  13. There's like a plate which does a half loop around the dump pipe.. this plate is there to provide the 2 top points to screw in the original heat shield. When the wastegate actuator was trying to fully open, it would hit the plate and not be able to reach the fully open position. To test if yours is doing this, take off the heat shield and remove the circlip that holds the actuator's arm onto the wastegate control. You should then be able to move the little control peice of the wastegate.. turn it around with your hand and see if it hits the plate. hard to describe.. if you like i can take some photos when i get home from work.
  14. i don't know a lot about cats, but the $160 Xforce one i got from just jap isn't very good. It's causing an exhaust flow restriction at high rpm and i'm losinga decent chunk of power. also looking for a better alternative myself. Don't really want to hollow out the Xforce, but it definately would make it high-flowing.
  15. Timing was set during the tune yesterday. I'm pretty happy to investigate the Cat and if that doesn't prove to be the issue then i'll replace the turbo and air filter and hope for the best.
  16. wow.. yeah i guess mine isn't too bad. It definitely is possible that the turbo simply can't hack 14psi at 7000rpm.
  17. definately a 25 turbo. replaced it myself. well it's definately not a rb20 turbo .. could possibly by one from an rb30 or something i suppose... never throught about it that much.. but it's not really out of puff.. like i said it's maintaining boost all the way.. From what the guy at Hyperdrive was telling me, it's not so much the lack of boost, but it's the restriction on the exhaust flow. .. but i do agree that it's hard to understand how it could have restricted flow and also maintain boost. I might try taking the zorst off and putting it back on the dyno before going out and buying a new turbo.
  18. also the fuel / air mix is flat on 12 for the whole dyno sheet so it's not starved for fuel.. i've put a gtr pump in and have a regulator on standby if i feel fuel will become an issue.
  19. yeah car is tuned.. was a dyno tune yesterday.. it's not missing or anything.. definitely not coilpacks .. (why does that answer come up for every skyline related problem? haha) only running 13.5 psi at the moment, but it's not losing any boost at the high end.. it's dead flat on 13.5 from 4000 to 7500
  20. Got my car on the dyno finally.. Made 227hp at 6000rpm.. but the problem is that after 6000 my power drops off quite steeply.. and by just over 7000rpm i'm only making 180hp. Apparently i have a hefty flow restriction.. But my set up should be quite free flowing.. apexi pod, fmic, JJR split dump, Xforce cat, greddy cat-back .. i think it might be my turbo itself.. bought a rb25 turbo off ebay and it's always been quite whirry.. Do you guys agree that this could be the issue? Anyone selling a good condition, low km's rb25 turbo? (preferably a neo if possible) ... would this fix the issue?
  21. I got pulled over once for being the only driver with enough balls to overtake a cop car doing 50 in a 70 zone. Didn't get done for anything, but they guy was just driving stupid slow in the left lane, and put the siren on as soon as i went passed in the right. As far as getting pulled over for having a different paint job tho Mel.. that's not unreasonable. Resprayed cars which haven't updated their rego are possible stolen cars.. most often they won't be, but personally I'd rather cops do their job..
  22. turns out the different turbo / exhaust combo was causing the actuator to hit the support for the heat shield.. took to the heat shield with an angle grinder and it's all good now.. wastegate was probably opening about 80% .. full range now. yay.. dial it up to 14 or 15 tomorrow, then gettin it dyno tuned monday.
  23. Pitty my car is getting a dyno tune on the monday after.. probably won't make it along to this one. post pics!
  24. thanks man i'll give it a shot.
  25. only noticed it happening in 3rd and 4th (coz the time between 6000 and 7500 is so small in 1st and 2nd) just using a turbotech manual controller, but if the moving air is causing a pressure drop of 1 or 2 psi in that area, it would cause the actual boost to increase by that amount. how can i tell if the wastegate is opening 90% or 100%?
