Was giving my car a bit of a squirt the other night and noticed something interesting. As my rpm gets to around 6000 the boost starts increasing and continues to do so until 7500 and i change gear. It's ok at the moment because i've only got it set to 12 psi, and it climbs to about 15 by the time i shift, but i do want to fix it because i plan to run 14 or 15 constantly. I can think of 2 possible causes, and was wondering if anyone can rule out one or the other. Possible cause #1: When i fitted my JJR split dump pipe, i didn't check if the divider was effecting the wastegate's ability to open fully. It could be stopping it from reaching it's full open position, and thus my boost begins to increase at high rpm. Possible cause #2: A bit of high school physics here... When i put the rb25 turbo on, i had to weld in a nipple to feed pressure to the wastegate actuator (as the rb25 turbo doesn't have it on the turbo like a rb20 turbo).. I've welded it into the pipe just after the turbo, but on a little peice off to the side of the pipe (not in the direct flow of air) .. It could be that at high rpm, the fast moving air going past the section with the nipple on it is causing a pressure drop in that area. Same principle as an aircraft wing. (sorry if i didn't explain the nipple position very well .. i can post a picture later.) How can i test if the wastegate is able to open fully? Should i move the nipple regardless?

You're selling?? Is the entry fee for entering your car or for all people who attend? .. i'll probably come along either way since i live like 5 minutes from there.

it's a bit of a long shot, but check that when you fitted your return pipe you didn't knock the plug in your CAS .. i had a problem with a loose wire in mine once and it caused the same issue.

bit of an obscure question, but does anyone know of a good radar detector which doesn't have the sensors directly mounted on the circuit board? My mate and I planned to pull his apart (i forget which he has) and mount the sensors in his front bumper, while mounting the circuit board, speaker and display in his center console. However, when we pulled it out we discovered the sensors couldn't be separated from the board and didn't think it'd be a good idea to mount the circuitry outside the car. Alternatively are there "radar detector kits" for this same purpose? Mounting it as above would be much nicer than sticking a black box onto the windscreen and is also a lot more subtle.

On this window topic... Does anyone know of a place that buffs scratches out of windows? places like O'Brian etc don't do it anymore because it thins the glass and affects the structure of the car.. but i just want the driver's and passenger's door windows done.

Hey all, I've kinda got to the point now where i've got to decide whether to keep modding my 32 gts-t or consider it finished. I think the car's potential was always limited (due to it's age and my budget). When i got it the car had: Apexi pod filter Custom mild steel cat-back with Xforce cannon. Unknown aftermarket shocks (pink in colour.. were on the car when imported apparently) GTR Wing GTR front bumper (missing lower lip) Now the car also has: Custom box and cold air intake Greddy FMIC Turbotech boost controller (set to 15psi) R33 GTR Fuel pump RB25 turbo JustJap split dump pipe Xforce HiFlow Cat Greddy PE2 Catback (replaced droning Xforce) Locked HICAS 18" DTM Wheels with Federal 595's GTR Front lip (painted black to match car) Midnight express tinting MOMO Race steering wheel nismo shift knob 6 speaker mp3 stereo I've also ground and bogged a small amount of rust, and removed the aftermarket radio antenna the previous owner cut into the car I've had the car almost a year now and i'm pretty happy how it's developed. Question is, what (if anything) do i still need to do to it? I'm considering strut braces and maybe some slotted rotors... but not sure it's needed. It might be time to just start saving for a new beast. What do you all think?

AFM / CAS / Coils / Plugs ... those are a few possabilities .. but could be many things

i can't take credit for it... as mentioned in title, i copied it from the WRX forums. Thought you guys n gals might enjoy it as much as i did.. hehe

So lately my girlfriend has been working alot of late shifts, and for the past couple of months she has been carpooling with a male co-worker. At first I didnt mind in case she has car trouble or something like that, but it seems they have become a little bit more than friends. You know the scenario, the phone calls that hang up, she starts wearing nice clothes to work and talking about him all the time then abruptly stops leaving an uncomfortable silence. If im out in the garage when she gets home (usually after midnight) he just drops her off and leaves, but if the lights are off in the garage and Im in the house (they think Im sleeping) they sit out in the car for like twenty minutes. I asked her once what they were doing, and she said "Just talking" ....whatever. So last night I decided to see whats really going on out there. So I leave the garage door open, and turn off all the lights. About the time she usually gets home, I go out in the garage and wait.. In a few minutes, his car pulls into my driveway, and Im hiding behind my rex. When his headlights shine through my garage and onto the car, I see something that I just couldn't believe. The rear camber is severely wearing my rear tires. Now i have to get a rear camber kit, should i get the Whiteline or ingalls kit?

mebbe change the thread title... sounds good though.. i should have my new exhaust fitted and hopefully my paint all patched up in time... project Wogan almost finished!

may i suggest we have the burswood dome carpark as a meet point before we hit the tunnel.. that way when we go through there we're all grouped up nicely. from there we can hit the beach for some nice sunset group photos. edit: hoony, i reckon you and Nur were the 2 best looking cars at autosalon.
-
i also haven't cruised in a long time.. hopefully i can finish my current project in time for some nice photos and what-not. Would love to meet more SAUWA people.. think Karl is probably the only person i'd recognise (not in his new car tho).

Install the Greddy spec-M yourself.. it's really easy and you can pick up a kit to suit your car for 600-700 bucks... if you want i can help. Pods are a great move to reduce resistance and flow retrictions on your intake, but definately box it so you can get some cold air in there! I've got a hi-flow cat from Just jap ($160 delivered) .. crazy cheap but i'm happy with it's performance... it all depends how much power you want... spec-m intercooler and the hi-flow cats from just jap are good, but you won't be preparing yourself for huge power.. if you just after a reasonable increase without chasing huge numbers then these are cheap and excellent options.

I recently ordered a Kakimoto Regu 06&R, but the supplier i ordered from ran out of stock the day before i paid them. They have given me the option of a Kakimoto 96R instead, but i can't find any reviews or information about them. Anyone ever used one or heard good / bad things about them?
-
If you're still looking i'm willing to lend my 18's .. they are 7 spoke shadow silver with a polished lip (there's a pic in the show n shine section). They've got little 225/35/18s on them which i think looks great

It wouldn't supprise me (and it'd make great viewing) if Jeremy Clarkson did a segment on Top Gear where they saw what a "normal person" could do the ring in, with a GTR. This lap time has created a lot of hype (as well it should), and it would be interesting to see what sort of time someone like jeremy could pull in the GTR.. That would give some indication of how much of the lap time can be attributed to the driver, and how much to the car.

Heyas, I'm currently looking at purchasing a new cat-back exhaust to go with my new dump n cat. Just wondering if there's any local suppliers of japanese exhausts (preferably kakimoto, trust or hks) or do i have to buy interstate? Thanks, Steve
-
Just Jap has the HKS Silent Power for 32 GTR / GTS-4 , but not GTS-T. The trust pe2 seems to be very popular for the sound, just not sure about the granny driving volume.. Seems the collective vote is for kakimoto or trust, with some votes for hks.
-
Seems i was wrong about the kakimoto pipe.. the series ranges from 60 to 80mm, but the R32 gts-t one is 80mm.. guess i'll buy that
-
I should specify that the kakimoto regu 06&r is 60mm in diameter for a section on the R32 GTS-T exhaust.. possibly larger on other model cars. Looking at possibly a Trust Power Extreme 2... off to research again
