  1. I have couple of the R30 type resistor packs spare inc both halves of the plug if you get desperate.
  2. R31's don't have a resistor pack, it's local spec R30's with L24E that do as well as 280ZX.
  3. They're under the centre console, next to the handbrake lever. Console is held in place by 4 screws, 2 on each side, about a 5 minute job to remove. The G-sensor has an indicator built in showing it's condition.
  4. dark is 100% correct. Think about it....if the weight of the car remains the same, how can the springs 'uncompress' just by the position of those rings??
  5. Don't pay it then. I could do a lot better than that without even bothering to ask for trade. RRP is just that.....'recommended'.
  6. It's the 200ZR (I, II or III) that has the RB20DET with the rear bowl sump. Basically a Z31 with RB20DET. New sumps can still be had on order from Nissan (well, last time a checked) and are $300-$400 with the pick-up. RB30S in Patrol also has rear bowl sump which can be used, but that sump is quite 'deep' and might need mods depending on the application.

I believe it's the VG30E (ie SOHC) in the Navara, and yes the 2WD version uses a gearbox which is similar in size and strength to the R33/VL turbo types BUT the bell-housing bolt pattern is very different and it won't bolt up to an RB block without an adaptor plate (or changing the bellhousing - if possible).
  9. One thing you need to be aware of before going further....L6's from Patrol's use a rear bowl sump + oil pick-up. OTOH I suspect your L20ET has a front bowl sump. If that is the case, it is not a simple matter to swap th sumps because the block's are drilled diffently for the oil pick-up gallery. The swap can and has been done, but it's not 'bolt on'. As to your other Q's: - Block will be either an F54 or N42 (look for one of these ID's cast into the exhaust side, low down near the sump line). F54 is theoretically the strongest block, but the difference is marginal, if any. Nissan experimented with siamesed bore liners in the early L6 turbo blocks, but found little difference in strength. - The turbo 280ZX racecars used by the likes of Paul Newman reputedly had 600HP at the flywheel with a stock block (but with a crank girdle and modified cranks). - P90 is the turbo head and the one to get if your going for big boost. - head gasket depends on boost levels. - from memory there isn't much difference between those cams. - VG30ET has about the same output as RB30ET (ie 150kw at the flywheel, stock), so they won't be much good unless this will be a relatively mild engine....in which case you won't need to worry about the block.
  10. No...it will drop the CR on your L24 and performance (already not great) will suffer..... If you want to improve performance with the L24, get a good E88 head from an R30 Skyline and bolt that on. With a cam (nothing wild) and upgraded fuel system (240Z carbs are a good option, but can be hard to find), plus extractors and a reasonable exhaust system, the car will be transformed. But at the end of the day, go L28 if you can as that's the ideal upgrade for these cars.
  11. Other than yours, I've never seen or heard of one fitted to an Oz spec car. The N47 uses stainless steel liners in the exhaust ports designed to 'glow' and burn-off any un-burnt fuel. This was required to meet more stringent emission specs in the US.
  12. No, he's talking about the E88 head fitted to local spec R30 Skylines. The N47 is a round exhaust port, US spec head (shudder). The R30 type E88 has a 'small' combustion chamber similar to the early 240Z E31, but with 42mm inlet and 35mm exhaust valves. It's an easy matter to fit the bigger 44mm inlet valve used in L28 heads (eg N42) and it's a bolt-on compression increase for an L28 engine, even with dished pistons. For the OP, what you have is an E30 head...there's no such thing as an L6 'E80' head. The E30 is fitted to stock, L24S (single carb) engines used in 240K and C210 Skyline. It uses very small valves and inlet ports, but has the one redeeming feature of a 'small' combustion chamber, similar to the E31 head. So it also gives a bolt-on CR increase for an L28, but is otherwise a good boat anchor. In the early days of Z performance builds when E31 heads were scarce and expensive (still are...), we used to port E30 heads and fit bigger valves, but it was a LOT of work.
  13. From the factory there is no gasket, Nissan use a sealer (3-Bond).
  14. No, it won't bolt up to an RB. It might be possbible to swap the bellhousings, but I've never done it.

  16. Just some observations that might help: 1. Genuine OPS from Nissan is around $150 (trade....add maybe $20 for retail). 2. OPS PN is 25070-30P01 (R32 GTR and GTS4, R33 RB25DET and Z32 300ZX). FAST does show an alternate number for some models (25070-55S60), but it also shows the -30P01 as the direct alternative. 3. The VDO OPS shown on the 300ZX link looks identical to the type fitted to local spec R31 Skylines (RB30) as standard. VDO supplied some parts for Oz spec R31's, inc the instrument cluster and some other sensors, basically to build up local content. Be warned that quality is not great.

  19. Looks like a Ford...... With petrol heading toward $2/L, big cars/engines will be 'on the nose' with buyers. Commode sales are already well down this year, and fleet buyers/managers are very nervous. A relation of mine has been closely involved with testing of the new VE and word is the V6 has been problematic from all aspects of development (power, fuel consimption).
  20. I've got a complete rear subframe there with a pair of the driveshafts your after. You can take the lot for $50. I'm in Melbourne....Ferntree Gully.
  21. The oil you have will be fine, but if you want to have an argument with the mechanic that's up to you. One-off oil analysis falls into the same category as cryogenic treatment......a complete waste of time and money.
