  1. R200 or Bog Warner ??
  2. I think Lawrence and yourself have made a fundamental misinterpretation of the class rules. My interpretation is that the R32 GTR is eligible, but the R32 GTSt is not....simply because they are distinctly different models and that's what the class rules dictate. Granted they are from the same model series, but they aren't the same model (Nissan certainly see it that way). AFAIC the stewards made the right call and, frankly, if I were a fellow competitor, I'd protest your car as soon as I became aware of it. No offence, but that's just pit politics
  3. Sorry, but all this proves is that CAMS - and certain people in CAMS - couldn't organise a chook raffle. Peter Lawrence doesn't have the power to 'approve' your car, period. That fact was rightly upheld by the stewards of the meeting. Hopefully one of them took the time the report the matter officially back to CAMS, but even if that were the case I doubt anything would come of it, knowing CAMS. IPRA - or more accurately the class governing body commission - certainly helps set the class rule framework BUT it is CAMS that holds recognition authority. IPRA is Group 3J and it didn't take me long to find this: http://www.ipravic.com.au/other_content/IP...203J%202004.pdf which clearly states that to be eligible: '....the models of vehicle must be or have been mass-produced touring cars, the model of which has been:.....otherwise recognised by CAMS, at its sole discretion, for Group 3J....' There's more to it, but it's pretty straight forward, and you can read for yourself that 'sole discretion' DOES NOT mean that one person in CAMS can make arbitrary inclusion decisions. I do know something about this having been involved in a failed attempt to get a certain model recognised for Group Sb.....all I can say is, good luck dealing with CAMS.
  4. Get a different mechanic (one that know's what they're doing).
  5. Front diff on stock GTR is definately open, but aftermarket clutch (ie mechanical) LSD centres are available, but not viscous. Stock rear LSD on GTR is 2-way.
  6. Your not going to endear yourself to anyone with this sort of stunt, least of all your fellow (potential) competitors. Believe me you need their support or at least their indifference to your presence in the class. I'm just amazed you were allowed to compete at all, and I suspect you 'got off' because the fact your car is obviously ineligible meant exclusion is automatic from future events. In any event, you need to submit an application to the CAMS Recognition Committee in the first instance to have your vehicle 'type' recognised...but that's just the first hurdle.
  7. I'll take the R32 GTR wing as long as it is, in fact, mint (already been burnt once.....). Can come and inspect anytime this week.
  8. Your car would have been imported under the 'old' scheme, which has now been superceded by SEVS. Under SEVS, JDM R32 GTR's are inelgible for import in the years that Nissan imported the model officially to Oz (ie 91 and perhaps 92, altough I thought they were only brought in by Nissan in 91).
  9. Pic didn't work for me, but from description sounds like a corroded welch plug. Replace with a brass one available just about anywhere for a couple of bucks each. Getting access to get the old one out and the new one in is usually more of problem. Be aware that having one corroded welch plug usually means others are as well.
  10. 28505-04U50 = HICAS control
  11. [sigh] gone again for me. Not showing the error message anymore, but now not showing any new messages from about 4:30pm (of course, there are).
  12. Seems to working now......well, last couple of times I've tried
  13. I'm also using FF1.0.7 and have cleared all cookies but I'm still have the same problem (ie View New Posts broken).
  14. The 'View New Posts' function is broken for me. Keep getting this message: "Sorry, but we did not find any matches to display. Try again and broaden your search criteria. If you were searching for new posts since your last visit, it's possible that there are none to show." ....but there are certainly new posts, and doesn't matter how long I leave between tries. Same result with IE or Firefox.
  15. The last couple of nights (that I've seen) they've been showing early 70's races from the old Warwick Farm course in Sydney. Would be a really nice circuit to still have open today. Tuesday night was classic GTHO vs Monaro from 1971 with Ian Gheoghan (sp ?? or was it Pete....) smoking the GTHO's tyres out of every corner.....anyone say 'drift' .....of course they didn't last. Last night was wet races from the same course with Alan Moffatt in the Mustang leading Gheoghan again (I think) in a HO. All mixed in with mini's, alfa's, EH Holden's, Monaro's, celica's, etc, etc.
  16. I have an R33 starter in my 89 GTR.
  17. If you look in the supercession list for R32 GTR it lists the -05U03 PN as a replacement part as well. It's likely the only cranks available from Nissan are the -05U03 type.
  18. That's the late R33 GTR (97->) and R34 GTR crank PN.
  19. Bit hard to say from your description and location is a bit vague. 'Reddish yellow' doesn't fit the 'normal' fluids, but red is most likely ATF (auto trans fluid) which is power steering or ATTESSA (transfer case and pump). Yellow could be brake fluid. Both ATF and brake fluid are 'thin'.
  20. The 23100 is the parts 'group' - in this case the alternator, and its pretty much universal across all Nissan models. The second set of numbers identifies the specific model/year. Anyway, alternators are pretty much interchangable across the RB2x range. I put an R33 RB25 alternator in my 89 R32 GTR. It has a 90A output. Pretty much bolted straight in with only slight differences in connector locations - no big deal. I also have an RB20DET alternator in my '87 R31 Silh.
  21. Nick, sorry to hear it mate. Sounds like a professional job, given the type of alarm fitted.
  22. If it doesn't have sufficient basic info in the add it should be deleted, end of story, and that's also what should happen now. Sorry, but if you want to make the sale, put in the time or you aren't serious. There are some forums that already have implimented what I've suggested and it seems to work well. Saves the mods a lot of time and once the sellers know the rules, there are few complaints. Edit: as for your example....are you seriously suggesting that something along those lines doesn't happen every day on these forums anyway ?? But if a Q is asked in a general forum to a seller about their FS ad, that thread should be deleted (as it should be under the current guidelines) AND the sellers thread should be deleted.......simple. On top of that the respective members should be warned.
  23. I believe not. Mainly because they represent an additional injury hazard to pedestrians.
  24. A simpler answer would be to restrict FS thread replies to the OP only (+admins/mods, of course). That would get rid of a lot of the pic requests and unnecessary posts, but still allow the OP to bump his/her own thread. Pic and extra info requests could be sent to the OP directly via PM or e-mail.
