Misfire Question - R33 S2 4,500-5,500rpm
tm_r33 replied to Levi_'s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
as many above me have suggested, misfire due to coil pack problems is not at all uncommon in skyline motors. the coil-pack arrangement on rb20/25/26 series motors has always caused grief in stock and tuned motors. while many people on here will swear by standard coil-packs (even with heavily modded engines) just as many have had the same coil-pack related misfire problems. the problem being that heat and age cause failure of the insulation and a path through this insulation may be of less resistance than the spark gap at the bottom of the plug (air is an extreamly poor medium for volatge to pass through). I DO NOT see the 'silicon fix' being ideal as silicon is actually a 'semi-conductor'. meaning under the right conditions silicon will conduct electricity. while 'electrical tape' has an annoying habit of degrading quickly when exposed to excessive heat or gaseous environments (under bonnet provides both these non-ideal circumstances) in summarry, quick fixes, not ideal. -

Cops abusing their power... surely they wouldn't do such a thing? This 'intelligent' police officers argument seems to be of such substance! It is.... in no way based on bias, not based on stereotypes, not lacking of clear evidence, showing a clear path of investigation, clear, logical, structured, fair, in the interest of true justice, ...... Should i continue to make a complete joke of this officers foolish threats? Maybe certain members of our upstanding police force have forgotten the true meaning/purpose of their role in society? It does not involve.... revenue rasing, proving a point, making overly generalized accusations, abusing given power, degrading the image of the entire police force, removing the public trust in the police force, ..... or finally sounding like a complete F**K whit. educated, fair, just..... pffft, that went out the door the second many officers were given their role in the police force!

cdi meaning 'capacitive discharge ignition' yes? where by a unit that contains a bank of, probably electrolytic, capactitors supply the charge to each coil pack?? or does this unit feed a charge directly to the spark plug? have a rough idea of how this work but not entirely sure. in theory this system makes perfect sense for great spark power, as any one who has seen a large capacitor instantaneously discharged can verify.

i was told by the wheel shop i spoke to that they only came up to 17. ?? they gave me a price today for $350 a rim. that was for 17x9 at 35offset i think. 18x9 at 30 would be great. im after all black.
-
yer they dont need to be time attacks, i will most likely get my rims powdercoated black if the rim i choose does not come in black. just used the time attack pic cause they was black EDIT: any one brought a set of 'SSR typeC' lately?? whats the cost on those puppies?
-
Yer the driftek is a tough looking rim. i think they may only come in up to 17 inch though. at this stage i would still like to stick with 18s. Im quiet happy to stretch some narrower tires over a 9 inch wide wheel lol. Obviously car wont be at standard ride height though, so i dont know if ill get 9.5s in there
-
So in the next month i am looking at buying another set of rims for my 33 gtst to replace the heavy 'hunk of shit' spec ROH wheels that came on it. The current wheels/hunks of shit are 18inch which i think fill the gaurds nicely so i am pretty keen to stay with that diameter and go with maybe 8.5 - 9 inch in width. Will stagger widths if needed but im unsure of what offset with look aggressive. Im sure most of you will tell me soon enough what works tho. I will be rolling the gaurds to accomidate a tough offset so let me know what you guys have fit in your 33 gtst gaurds with rolling but no flaring. See below for an indication of what style/look of rim i am into. obviously there is a big price range between the rims in the pics but it is an indication so u know what look i am after. so, simialar to any of these and lightweight is what im after. post up prices if u know them and the dealers. im in hobart so rather limited.

lol no worries

i understand all of this and yes, the big players (nissan, toyota etc) is where the shipping companies make their profit. You are completely correct about the average persons 'one off' shipment being worth bugger all in the big picture but good company practice should protect the average john smith from getting F***ed over. sadly i cant see things getting better thought lol
