Well yer 25 iss hydrulic lifter also and imo not fun to pull the head off lol
-
Lol pulling head off is a pain in the ass in 33 gtst. I spose its gunna be the same across most models lol
-
Yer posibly it could seize. Is ur engine an rb20? They is hydrolic lifter so would be rare for anything to cease up I would of thought but ur mate might well be right. But yer if you strip a head down its important to make sure any parts that are being re used go back where they came from.

Cant over tensioning the timing belt load up the front of the shaft. the extra tension is trying to pull the front of the camshaft downwards. And even the smallest amount of deviation to the cam rotation will cause u a problem
-
Yer my mate snapped one. As said above it was due to incorrect instsllation procedure. He tried to start tightening from the center but because the valves were holding the two ends of the shaft up it must have started to bend and then it snapped when he applied pressure on the next bolts. Silly mistake really but it was his first major engine work. Was years ago now. If you have not had the camshafts out could maybe suggest that timing belt was over tention or it slipped a tooth. Surely u would of heard valve to piston noise if any contact occured tho.

What Cr? (Special Rb25/26 Hybrid)
tm_r33 replied to Turbo_Knuff's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yes from memory rb25 has smaller chambers in head. I think thats why they are 9:1 factorry and 26 are 8.5:1. Most engine builder have a program that does a calculation to work out comp ratio. they input... head chamber size after any resurfacing has happened. piston top size (in cc. Flat top is usually at 0cc. My dome tops were 13 cc I think.) Head gasket thickness and posibly gudgen pin height, rod length and stroke length. They then select the block its for and the program does the calculation. You can also use bore size inthere to get an overall displacement to I think. Ask ur builder the question. As far as I know they regularly need to do these calcs -
Rb20 needs 7000 rpm lol. Only good thing about them is the fact they rev so freely lol. And yes splitfires are a rip off. I could happily afford a set if I choose to but in many circumstances there is no need. Nissan coil packs do a f**ken good job to last as long as they do. I run nissan items on my track car. No aftermarket coil pack is gunna last 15 to 20 years imo
-
voted impul. i personally am not much of a fan of body kits. i dont run one on my track car even lol but yes i can see genuine nissan being slow and exspensive to accquire lol.

get the bosch 040. awsome bit of gear. installed a few 040's in skylines and never had a drama with installation or problems with low fuel levels. walbro is cheaper yes but in my opinion there is a reason its nearly $100 dollars cheaper than 040. $250 isnt to bad a price. i think from memory my buy price is $200 and thats cost price only. (bosch dealer) so yer 250 aint to bad considering most parts places run a much bigger price mark up than 20 - 25 percent.

To Get My Diff Welded Or Get 2Way
tm_r33 replied to AndreW_R32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yer of corse. many cars would be useless without lsd but from factory the lsds start to lock up upon acceleration.... not deacceleration. track cars... yer grab a 2way lsd or a locker. in a drift car its good for obvious reasons and in a circuit car you usually getting ready to get back on the power by the time ur at the apex. also there generally isnt trees or power poles at a race track lol and u have better rubber on the car so the front has half a chance at fighting understeer. (but better rubber at the back can also increase its tendancy to 'drive straight' if rear is locked.) by 6 bolt does it have 6x1 or 3x2 pattern? -
To Get My Diff Welded Or Get 2Way
tm_r33 replied to AndreW_R32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i assume you mean to say it has a factory fittled LSD. Locked diffs are illegal for street use, so i highly doubt your car has a factory locker. (reason being, they promote understeer when small throttle inputs only are applied.) Imagine that nanna jenny gets in her hubby ute... she goes down to the shops but being elderly and irratic in her driving she comes straight off the throttle and turns hard and late at the first corner she gets to... now if there is no throttle then how is the inside wheel going to break traction to spin at constant speed with the outside wheel when turning.... it wont. it will want to push the car in a staright line.... see what im getting at. this wont be the case in all chassis or road conditions. both my 33s have had locked differential and i have not had those problems but in other chassis it is a problem. But it may well be a very tight lsd. Most decent four wheel drives and utes come standard with or are available with a farely heavy duty lsd. -
but his mates call him johnny

spot on mate. 33gtst ecu will hit rich and retard at a boost seeting of 10 pound. had to rectify the problem on 33 countless times. im not sure why he would want to change the wastegate actuator. bad idea coil packs in not a power related problem as a rule. more an age and heat thing. my 400kw 25/30 has a set of nissan coils on it.

the end of the injectors doesnt look right. unless the 700s have a different spray setup to the 1000s. pretty sure bosch make the injector dynamics item so it can be labled either way i put my id1000s in last week and they looked similar but the end of those pictured injectors is different. those injectors look like a rip off of the id1000. (an injector made by bosch but sold as an injector dynamics item.) but hey i may be wrong.... maybe the 700s do have a different spray tip... but i doubt it.

R34 Gtt Rear Wheel Bearings
tm_r33 replied to nato_wp's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
hey mate. can u not just give your vin number to nissan spare parts and they get you the right bearing? EDIT *keep in mind i have NOT read your other threads so u may have already tried this and it isnt so easy* -

tm_r33 replied to rad100's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
yes mate. i do beleive that when the core is mounted with the inlet and out let on the bottom then the oil may only be forced across the bottom of the cooler. but when it mounted with the inlet and outlet at the top the cooler has to fill (gravity obviously makes sure the bottom fills before the top) before any is forced out the outlet. making sure the oil is exposed to the whole cooling core not just part of it. personally i think there is probably enough oil pressure to fill and flow properly regardless of the way it mounted if u are using an aftermarket oil pump. (which i assume u are since u have a built engine) -
lol pretty much yeah.
-
I dont get it though. Are we meant to pay him. He keeps the money and the infringment is with drawn? So we would all still have to pay any how? Im slightly confused. This may be a good idea if u couldnt afford to loose any points. But you still have to pay. And instead of it going back to the government to be handed out to f**k whits with out jobs it is all kept by a pin head who thinks hes on to a real money maker. Money is in the wrong hands in both out comes.
-
I think you should post up these withdrawal notices. Do they all have a different rego on them? Or have 10 different ppl been dumb enough to get or take responsibility for tickets in your car
-
I wouldbe a liar if I said I hadnt poured tens of thousands into my track car but f**k its a 33. Its a better platform. It still uses a nissan engine even if it is 3 litre. And it is a track car. Its a race car. U dont need 500 hp to do a skid. U need to not care about ur car so a 31 is an obvious choice but not one with 40 g spent on it. Furthur more if I had my time again I would have a f**king house by now. Not a money pit skyline thats never gunna be that amazing considering we have cars like the mark berry r34 and even his old 32. Cars like that will be remembered. Ill just be broke and have an aging car with no resale value. I think if burnouts are ur thing it would be remedial to spend 40 g and a car to do them. A dirtty 5 litre vs commy ute will cost u f**k all and sit on rubber destroying cooks all day lol. And cost f**k all to fix when it breaks.

Hey mate. I ditched the 25 water cooler setup in the the end. I currently have an oil filter straight on the block. As this is an engine built from scratch I will try to do a fare extensive run in so no cooler will be needed until I get it tuned again and track it. As soon as its run in and I put the filter relocator and cooler on I will take piccs. Being a track car I dont run a heater or anything so there isnt many coolant lines left lol.
