Why Shouldnt I Sell The Skyline For A Wrx?
mrsparkle replied to Julzillionaire's topic in General Automotive Discussion
In the original post it was stated it was going to be kept pretty stock with basic mods. A wrx with basic mods is a pretty cool little car and personally i like them, they are great fun to drive and pretty decent value. I dont see anything wrong with swapping from your r33 gtst to a wrx and i consider it an upgrade. I love my skylines dont get me wrong but for this situation i think the wrx would be the better vehicle. Please dont flame me for putting my point of view across!! its just that, a point of view, its not gospel. -

hey dude i got another way of thinking - do you need to spend big money to have fun in your car? I ( just like a lot of other ppl on this forum ) have spent a fortune on cars. I built them mostly without needing a loan but i got a loan to buy a 180sx when i was an apprentice electrician as a second yr i was paying $100 per week of my $300 per week pay. It worked out ok for me i got back what i paid for the car two years i had it. This is the exception rather than the rule!! I spent a fortune on a rb26 to put back into my r33 after it blew up i never finished the engine in time and sold the car in pieces obviously lost a fortune there but, my point is now i want a cheap car with maybe 300 hp nothing crazy i dont have to worry about a s13 or an r31 or r32 with a bolt on turbo and a safc + coilovers something i can race at the drags if i want or try a track day, leave at the carpark of the local shops and not care if it gets a trolley in the side its nice to have a really nice car excellent paint and hugh hp and the latest model skyline or whatever but in my opinion its just too much money to enjoy it my 2 cents anyway sometimes the cheapest cars are the best fun

i rebuilt my own rb25det and it cost something like $2000 and took less than 2 weeks. If all you have is a busted up piston and a worn out set of bearings you can do the same. Forgies are cheaper than they have ever been (and unless your the 700hp man it wont matter which ones you use) rods are usually fine bearings are less than 150 dollars then its just new gaskets and head and main bolts etc etc. Go give it a try its not rocket science all the info you need is on these forums and a rb26 with forged pistons will be happy to well over 450 hp! ppl go over board with their builds in my opinion head - dont touch it just pull it off check it out and put it to one side and stick it back on when your finished bottom end - pull it apart inspect it take it to engine machinist if your not sure. Get yourself some pistons, get machinist to match pistons to bores and put pistons on rings and pistons on your old rods. Then go home and stick it together bottom ends are pretty simple follow the instructions and you cant go wrong if something looks hammered get it checked out and replace it if its oil pump and water pump you should probably replace them anyway not too expensive put that tomei oil reducer in the block and there goes the mian reasons rb26's give up the ghost. Anyway this is my 2 cents and it depends how hands on you are perhaps read up about it first if it sounds do-able then give it a go.

This sort of stuff happens more than you might think - my Aunt has a lx ss hatch she has owned it since new. While it was in a parking garage in the city where she works she had her side mirrors stolen! Some people have no shame

All this stuff is brand new in boxes - all being sold cause the direction of my project has changed. Intake piping includes replacing cooler piping from turbos to cooler - consisting of greddy airinx filters x2 adapters to z32 afm's x2 plugs for z32 afm's with wires and all aluminium intake piping as older rubber gtr piping can flex when it gets hot and close up under pressure. Excellent package for a standard engined gtr to make nearly 500hp at all 4 wheels on about 22psi with very similar response to standard turbos. Sard injectors are to suit standard gtr fuel rail. Dump pipes feature extra long wastegate seperator for more linear boost building and greater response and outright hp these turbos cost me $3300 dump pipes were nearly $1000 intake piping was over $900 and injectors were almost $800 delivered My loss is your gain !!
