i am so glad i got that part replaced when i had my rebuild done. my mechanic found the same steel nipple rusted and the hose was starting to split. he replaced it with new brass nipple and hose. the strangest thing though! the night before i heard from the mechanic that he found this problem i had a dream i was driving my car and it popped a coolant hose somewhere on the motor and i could find where it came from?? very strange!! ah well, all fixed now.
  2. i was just wanting to double check how many runs do we get?
  3. i think the O2 sensor will only increase fuel economy if it is not working. i currently am running no O2 sensors because i am waiting on genuine ones. i'm getting terrible fuel economy on a brand new engine. it should do a lot more kms per tank once installed.
  4. i agree! if you're buying an import leave yourself a fair bit for doing work, especially on these cars. my r32 GTR cost me 18.5k and straight away i had to replace the clutch 2k, and since then its been a never ending expense. had to replace turbos, exhaust, rebuild motor recently, HICAS, etc. the list goes on. its going well at the moment, still runing in the rebuilt engine. but there are still things that need doing.
  5. the mechanic told me that this might happen to me if i didnt get my head recond in the build. he said it would let out white smoke at the lights when i stopped after a bit of boosting
  6. i've got -5's on my GTR and they spool up really quick atm, got a rebuild done and theyre making boost @ 3,500 rpm. pretty punchy. love them runing stock ecu, stock injectors, 3in exhaust and pods. and engine has recon head, thicker head gasket, forged pistons, race bearings, std cams i would recomend the -5's, plus i think they're a little louder on the "woosh" than the others, but its just my opinion
  7. i dont mind punishing those people that continue to drift on the streets every weekend, and keep getting caught. the part that bothers me is when driving my R32 GTR i keep getting cops starting at the car, following me for a short while when all i am doing is driving my car normally like everyone else. it just really gets on my nerves being labeled as a hoon because of the car i drive, when in reality, i am 23 and over being a moron on the road, i was young and stupid and i've already lost my licence twice now, once for speeding and the other DUI. learnt my lesson having to catch the bus everywhere for 6 months, now i just wanna cruise in a nice car thats all. cops just have to face the hard reality, people + no brains = death (car accident), doesnt matter what car you drive, if you drive like an idiot (speeding, driving on the other side of the road) if you keep doing it you're eventually going to be in an accident. High powered cars can be crushed, *but* people will always think "it will never happen to me" just my 2 cents
  8. looks so stupid!
  9. probably just a rumour
  10. Where is it? When is it? and how much? i'm running in my rebuilt RB26 atm, still got 800kms to go. just wondering whether i will have the kms done on it before the day. cheers!
  11. yeah i was told not to let it idle for too long, also to not sit at the same low rev's for too long, just keep slowly accelerating and backing off. also one thing i have noticed, that its boosting at lower rev's than it used to. so really to keep it completely off boost i have to shift @ 3,000 rpm but if i got to 4,000 rpm it will have a little bit of boost, maybe from guessing on the guage 3-4psi. does Boost really do much damage when running in an engine? i'm not wanting to thrash the car, but when you're putting a little bit of load on the car the boost does creep up. cheers for any help
  12. i've only done 200kms in the car so far, its not going through the fuel like you would think. its not drinking the fuel any more than it used to. BTW its still a stock ECU
  13. Hey Guys, I've just had my motor rebuild because i spun a bearing. the engine had all these parts new: pistons, bearings, crank, water pump, sump baffle. head also has been recond, thicker head gasket, oil restrictor to the head. my O2 sensor had been damaged when my rear turbo blew 1 month before the motor went (been replaced with 2860-5's), and the new sensors havent come in yet, but the mechanic said that they'll be there when the car needs a first service after 1000kms. so i've been driving around with the sensors not plugged in, he told me that its okay because the ecu goes into safety mode? plus i am not boosting the car, keeping it under 4000rpm and trying to keep on 0 boost which is hard. the car is really responsive down low, and runs better than it ever has, just wondering whether anyone else on here has done the same thing? and if they have seen any issues? cheers guys!
  14. i would've kept my ceramic ones, great for spooling up quickly. but yeah, problem was that they were old and the rear wheel broke right off. just give manufacturers time to perfect the way they are attached and they'll be much better than heavy steel wheels
  15. it all depends on how much you wanna risk it? i personally wouldnt drive with no licence, you're asking for trouble. i had an ex who would drive unlicensed, i dont know if she ever got caught? but it would've been big trouble because she lost her licence when she was driving on her own on her L plates. the situation sucks, but it could suck way worse than it already does? if you were that unlucky to loose your licence like you said, i wouldnt push your luck any further by driving with no licence. 16. hey mate, i would say dont buy it! i'm going through my first rebuild and all i did was spun a bearing in a R32 GTR. the price is up to 10k, should be getting it back next week. its taken 10 weeks for the rebuild to be done, and the car was sitting in the garage for 3 weeks before the mechanic even saw the car. the headache of not having a car for that long is terrible. trust me, you're getting a LEMON! if you cant afford a good condition GTR "DONT BUY ONE" i have spent just about 20k on my R32 over the past 2 years, and i bought it for 18,500 and it was stock. spent $3k on turbos, $1k exhaust, $2k clutch, $2k suspension the bill just goes on someones gonna have to put the TLC and the $$$ into the one you're looking at, the big question is: 'do you want that to be you?' shop around a little more just my two cents BREZ
  17. Maybe NOT hot chicks with nice cars? doesnt matter how nice the car is, doesnt change how hot the actual chick is. Battleships pic is funny as
  18. i'd be a bit worried if i only had 3l in the sump of my rb26 i've always just used the full oil bottle, and a little extra if i'm gonna be driving hard.
  19. hey mate, see if you can pick up a R34 GTR cooler, thats what i did when i wanted it silver, its not really silver, its just unpainted. the only difference is that you have to get the sensor hole welded, but that only cost me $20-$40 i think? looks heaps better, doesnt stand out too much, but its noticeable enough. good luck mate
  20. i've got a full exhaust on my GTR Mines Dump Pipes aftermarket front pipe (Stainless) hi flow cat(stainless) 3in stainless cat back with oval muffler the dump pipes arent needed, i only did mine cos i changed the turbos, and though "may as well" just get a aftermarket brand front pipe, good hi flow cat and ring around a few exhaust shops and get them to do a cat back. i didnt really worry about which brand to use, its all just metal, and just as long as its all mendrel bent youre fine. and when it comes to sound if youre that picky, try and find a muffler that will give you the note you want, and if you need you can always chuck a hotdog in to deepen the note if need be. good luck mate, i'm sure youre gonna like what you get, i know i love the sound of my exhaust! 22. Miss R34 you should have just titled the thread about you supercharging your car to "give me attention" and this one should've been "a little more attention please" a few people here have given some good advice on whether the turbo will give the power you want, and what it will drive like from experienced people. if you were actually serious on getting this work done then by all means have fun, its gonna cost big, i personally wouldnt bother cos i like using my car on the street, but hey, youre the one paying for it at the end of the day not me. i look forward to the next thread, maybe "ive decided to keep the car N/A"
  23. do you have a boyfriend? what does he say about your endevours for a 500kw car?? cos i'd be seriously pissed if my girlfriend wanted to waste that much money on a car for a few minutes of fun on a dyno at a car show, cos honestly, it seems that a car with over 300rwkw on the road is pretty useless and to only really use the power on a dyno or on a track really wouldnt be worth the money. try fooling around in bed, much more fun than sitting in a car on a dyno pulling over 500kw just my two cents
  24. Hey Guys, my engine blew and i spun a bearing and the piston has hit the head and done a little damage. so basically i am up for rebuilding/reconditioning the head. i was just wondering is there anything that the mechanic can do to the head to increase low down torque? obviously there is the option of going for cams. but i am not really interested in spending $1000 ontop of everything else for cams. so really is there any machining that can be done which will increase low down torque? 25. Hey Adz, where are you getting the rebuild done? i am getting mine done atm @ Boostworx, i've got a rough quote of around the $7.5k mark. i originally got a quote for $12k but it included a whole heap of parts that i didnt really need. the engine is apart at the moment, aparently spun a bearing and damaged the crankshaft and the piston also did some damage to the head. i'll find out in the next couple days what it will cost for sure, once they source some second hand parts. like others have said, dont need too many specky parts if its a streeter. i'm only gonna be aiming for around the 250kw mark. i've got upgraded turbos and other stuff. but i'm limited by a stock ecu and stock injectors. i'm cool with 250kw if i get it, others have said for a streeter anything over 300kw is pretty useless. i am mainly sick of having to pay for things that constantly break on the 32 GTR.
