New To Street Performace, Silly Move, Need Info.
Brezza replied to Kyriakos's topic in General Maintenance
I feel for you mate, your situation really does suck! Fair trading laws would apply, but court procedures take a long time and it would be difficult to prove the seller was in the wrong, and even if you won there is no guarantee that you would get the money straight away. more than likely you would receive small installments over a long period of time. i am no expert but i am studying law so i've got some sort of idea. i've spun a bearing in my 32 GTR and am getting a rebuild done in a months time. and the build will take around 5 weeks so i am without a car for over 2 months. it sucks but you just gotta make the best of a bad situation. G'Day guys, Here is a little bit about my situation, I have spun a bearing in my 32 GTR right after I have replaced the turbos. I am still deciding on whether to go a full rebuild on the car (forged internals, etc) or to repair the broken bearing and general patch up and get rid of it? I put this together to basically ask people what sort of issues they have had with their GTR's eg, brakes, gearbox, suspension, bushes, etc. So it can give me some sort of idea of what else to expect to go wrong with the car and also give a heads up to others about what they might be up for when something breaks. Hopefully this thread can be used as a reference later on! Cheers, BREZZA

Car Misfires/stutters After Turbo Install (33 Gtr)
Brezza replied to R33GOD's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey mate, i just went to the Mechanic last night and i've discovered its my O2 sensor that it buggered. being a GTR and having 2 the mechanic unplugged one of them and it got worse, so he plugged it back in and unplugged the other and its running a lot better now. still not 100% still stutters a little at times. so now i guess i am up for some O2 sensors. but i think i am gonna need to clean my AFM's, when i put my pods on i noticed that they were a little bit oily and the K&N pannel filter i had in the stock air box was covered in that filter oil, there was even a pool of it in the bottom corner. the K&N pannel would've filtered good because everything was stuck in it! like the bloke above said too, the O2 sensor ensures that the mixtures are correct by measuring the exhaust gasses and adjusting fuel to ensure that the mix is correct. its kinda a pain that i have to change the O2 sensors because of the extra $$$ i gotta spend. but at least i know what the problem is now. Car Misfires/stutters After Turbo Install (33 Gtr)
Brezza replied to R33GOD's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i called Brett at Graham West Workshops and he said it could be the oxygen sensors in the exhaust? they could be around the wrong way and the car could be adjusting the wrong cylinders for the wrong turbos? he said he seen this problem before with the car stuttering and that was the problem. maybe you should try checking for this? i am gonna get the mechanic to check this, hopefully fingers crossed it is something simple like this and i can start making some real power. Car Misfires/stutters After Turbo Install (33 Gtr)
Brezza replied to R33GOD's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
hey mate! i feel your pain!! i got some 2860r-5's installed yesterday and its doing the same thing popping, stuttering and missfiring between 2000-3500rpm at half throttle. its running 13.5psi and the plugs are supposed to be gapped properly. plus its only making 213rwkw and it ran really lean at higher boost. list of mods R32 GTR stock internals stock ecu, fuel pump, injectors 2860r-5's mines dump pipes front pipe high flow cat 3in cat back pod filters anyone with any ideas what it could be? mechanic said it could be the injectors sucking in air? Brezza -
my 89 GTR is just stock with a full 3 in stainless exhaust and high flow cat. and a couple of trust airnix pods. its not that uncommon to get over the 250rwkw mark with the RB26 with a little more boost and better flowing exhaust and filters. i just hope the turbos arent gonna be too laggy. i suppose i dont have too long to wait!
-
my 32 GTR is going in for a pair of 2860r-5's next week. mine had blown a few weeks ago, so i am really eager to get the car working again. its booked in for plugs and a tune too. i am hoping for around the 250rwkw mark. but i guess well just wait and see how the car handles it. it will be the first time i use boostworx so it will be interesting for me to find out whether all the good rap they get is true. i hope so!
-
Guys, i was just wondering whether anyone could tell me whether the 2860R-5's would be more laggier than the stock R32 GTR turbos? and if by how much? Brezza
-
mate, sorry to hear about the turbos, i had the same thing happen to me, i put my foot down in my '89 R32 GTR around a corner and the power just cut on me and a huge ploom of black smoke came out the exhaust. then it sounded terrible and wouldnt want to boost. i've got a pair of Garrett GT2860R-5's sitting next to me, that i am getting installed in just over a week. the worst part about it was that the turbos blew on the friday and i was getting it dyno tuned on monday which was my birthday, so its a pretty expensive birthday present to myself. i was only running stock boost too. hopefully i can get some real good power out of the car now. You Know You Drive A Skyline When .. ... .
Brezza replied to SAGTS-4's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Guilty! haha -
it was 1050 coz i needed the whole thing remapped. due to the cc increse from 2 litre to 2.5. i needed it tuned again afterwards cos i had the zaust changed and fuel pump done. it was 350.
-
try out graham west. i had my WRX tuned there and it had a power fc. i had the EJ25 in it, the tune took 3 days and costed $1050 but well worth it. the car ran really well afterwards. made real good power. i have a R32 GTR now, stock as a rock with only an exhaust and air filter but i am looking at getting N1 turbos and power FC and i will prob go back there to get it tuned again. thanks mate, was just wondering how often should you change the fuel filter? Brez

hey guys, i just bought a R32 GTR and was wondering how much oil do i need for the sump? would 5 litres be enough? also does anyone know how much gearbox fluid you need for the gearbox, transfer case, front and rear diff? i was going to do a massive fluids change and need to know how much to buy. also what would be the best spark plugs you would reccomend?
