Crank Strength And Upgrading Options.
Gerg_R31 replied to LedZepLen's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
to get a comp ratio here is 1 formula i work with bore x stroke (bore =86.5mm stroke =95mm) 86.5 x 85.5 / 4 =1870.5625 1870.5625 x 3.142 x 95 = 558344.2006 558344.2006 / 1000 = 558.3442 litres 558.3442 x 6 =3350.0652 (the cubic centremetres of the block) 3350.0652 / 1000 = 3.3500 Deck height i wont be running one but the formular is the same as the bore x stroke formular just replace the stroke with the deck height measurement Head Gasket I HAVE NOT REMEMBERED A MEASURED HEAD GASKET THIS IS A ROUGH GUESS similar 2 the bore x stroke just replace the stroke with the squashed thickness of head gasket and measure the bore of the gasket, or could always CC it with a burette i.e 87 x 87 / 4 =1892.25 1892.25 x 3.142 x 0.9=5350.9045 5350.9045 / 1000 =5.3509 Head CC mines 62cc's atm Piston dish/dome if i get the kit id run a 12cc dome add deck height, head gasket, head cc's, piston dish cc's (minues if dome) 0 + 5.3509 + 62 - 12= 55.3509 add the bore x stroke with the above 55.3509 + 558.3442 = 613.6951 devide answer with the above 613.6951 / 55.3509 = 11.08 11.08:1 is the compression ratio id be running -

i just thought you may have designed pistons that were shorter to suit the stroker kit, if the over all height of the pistons dont change i might still be able to get the ones i had in mind, though i know forgies handle heat better im aiming at around 10.5:1 to 11:1 comp ratio so if you made me a piston the rb25de piston dome with valve releif would be fine with me plus i work at a machine shop so decking and other machine work and balancing etc is easily done are you making the kit pistons dome with valve releif? flat top? or dish? (i know alot of questions but more info may also bring more interest) -

any reason to why your not making this kit with a non forged piston? (not everyone wants to go the forced induction path) can the kit be bought without the pistons? whats the height difference between the normal rb30 piston and the piston for the 3.3? i've been told there are pistons that have a shorter skirt that will suit the rb30de im building, cant remember the part number but what are the chances of them suiting? do you balance the cranks? will the 3.3 crank have knife edging or standard counter weights? -

what would you charge for the rb30 stroker crank and rods? you mentioned making forgies with it, but me and i notced a few others have gone the N/A path so just wondering if you were making non forged pistons to suit? are you going to make these reguarly or made to order or just the 1 off batch? -

does anyone know if its car park A, B or C? and what about the car show thing happening at olympic park any chance that can confuse us? well those who want to meet up at krispy kremes ill organise that how to get there: its on cumberland hwy, if coming from hume hwy it the first right at the 2nd set of lights if coming from parramatta way you should see the Krispy Kremes sign before you get there on your left there is a woolworths caltex opposite i'll be there from 9am I'll be in a burgandy red R31 (r31 club stickers) We'll leave about 9:30am we'll will turn left onto Cumberland HWY then left onto Hume HWY then left onto Stacey/St Helens/ Silverwater rd then we'll turn right onto Holker st (not far after the great western) and that should take us right to the carparks

P Plate Laws For Engine Modification?
Gerg_R31 replied to Cartz144's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i dont know about any other state but i know in NSW anything that requires and engineers certificate is illegal for P platers, which is kinda stupid as any modification to a car needs to be engineered, even putting in an alarm, cops dont seem 2 anal about it which is good anyways with my lumpy cam i just drive like the car is having issues when a cop is behind me a min or so later they usually piss off in short do suttle or hiden things and always play dumb like u know nuthing about cars and its how it was when u bought it -
How To Get More Power From A Naturally Aspirated (na) Engine
Gerg_R31 replied to Eug's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
with that "how to port at home" majority of info was there but this is whats missing inbalance flow of all ports and/or ridiculously oversized ports can screw the power and response. always have someone with a flow bench, if not CC match the ports not as effective but can give a closer result with the rb series motors they use more suction so with the ports the best power gains is from stopping any restrictions, enlarging reduces the sucking effect which in the end reduces power there is no where 2 actually learn 2 port, porting is mostly trial and error and learning that while something may work with 1 type of head it may not for another and if you do porting at home as a first time never say "its good enough" its either good or not also im researching converting the rb25 VCT to non VCT so far I've put a bung into the face of the head, currently looking into replacing the hydrualic buckets with the solid buckets with shims or lash pads, all i know is the lash pad kit (sits on the valve) from tomeii is like $2k and the extra length of the valve that is needed is under the bucket where as the solid shim (sits on retainer) pretty cheap gts-r rb26 second hand but would have to replace the retainers and get longer valves rb25 intake valves compared to rb26 intake valves, the rb26 valve head is wider, over all length is longer, valve stem same diameter exhaust valves in the rb26 has a bigger head, longer and wider stem, looking at seeing if the rb26 exhaust guides are compatable with the rb25s exhaust guides -
