Car Making A Loud Noise After Rain...
R33Matt replied to R33Matt's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
That is a option, and if I cant figure out what it is, I will take it to a good workshop for sure. Just if its something easy to fix, then ill do it myself and save some $$$$. Thanks Anyways.. -
Hey, When im driving my R33 Skyline in the rain after about 10 minutes my car starts to make a knocking noise from under the car. It starts to sound like something is spinning and knocking against something. The faster i go the louder it gets. So when it starts to happen I need to pull over straight away otherwise it gets really loud and the whole car starts to shake. After turning the engine off for a few minutes and then starting it again the noise is gone. Seems to only happen when it’s wet and sounds like its under the car, doesn’t sound like its coming from the engine. Does anyone know what this could be? Is there any seals that if broken could cause this kind of thing to happen? Any info would be great! Thanks!

Im pretty sure the R32 Gts-t has a stock boost of 10psi. The R33 has a stock boost of 5psi which goes up to 7psi at 5000 revs.

Hey Mate, My turbo started doing the same thing about 6 months ago. Started whistling really loud but still making boost. I thought my turbo was stuffed but it ended up being the bolts. Check all the bolts around the turbo. The ones that bolt it onto the manifold. After I tightened the 4 bolts that connect the turbo to the manifold the whistling went away and hasn’t come back. Just make sure they are all really tight. Hope that helps ya Maybe also check the dump pipe bolts, just make sure everything is nice and tight.

An Auto Trimmer could mould a piece of vinyl into place pretty easy. They would do a pretty good job, but it would still be visable. I guess it depends if you were planning on doing any Mods. Are you gonna get any gauges or a Air Flow Controller? You could mount it up there and it would look really good! but if your going for the stock look you might need to get a new dash, or get the auto trimmer to re-do the whole dash. You could get something really nice at the same time, get the auto-trimmer to put that leather looking material over all of it like the new GTR. I think that style looks awesome!!

Hey, Just wondering if anyone knows where i could buy gold clamps and screws (not real gold ,lol). I was thinking of changing the screws that hold down the coil pack cover to gold and then I thought about changing the clamps on the intercooler pipes as well. Also thinking of changing the small clamps as well, like the ones for the oil breather hose. Would I be able to find these at Bunnings or Auto One/Supercheap? Or would I have to look somewhere else? Thanks!

R32gtr Gauge Cluster On R32gtst Type M Cluster
R33Matt replied to duck604's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Hey Mate, If you just wanted to replace your stock dials with white ones, you could get this kit: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/WHITE-DIALS-Nissan-...p3286.m20.l1116 Or if you wanted a full replacement with EL lights your could get this one: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-Nismo-R32-GT...p3286.m20.l1116 I ended up keeping the stock dials and got blue leds for the lights. Looks pretty good! -
Write Ups On R34 Smic Install Onto R32?
R33Matt replied to Stunn-R's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey Mate, I used a R34 SMIC on my RB25 and it worked alot better than the stock R33 one. I noticed alot more response and it seemed to pull harder. You should swap them over for sure Putting it in is really easy, just unbolt the old intercooler and bolt the new one in. Out of the 4 bolts only 3 reached on mine, but 3 is enough to hold it in place. It fits really well and the pipes should line up with it straight away. I also removed the plastic duct that was infront of the intercooler, seemed to be blocking alot of it off. Best way to get to it is jack up the car, turn the wheel to the right so you have heaps of room and then you should see it. I also removed my front bumper as it made it alot easier. Hope that helps ya! -
You can usually pick up a second hand R33 Gts-t turbo in good condition for around $300

Im having a bit of trouble with a spark plug in my mates Skyline. When I started to unscrew it, it snapped! Only took a little bit of presure and it broke apart. I have changed the plugs on skylines heaps of times and ive never seen this happen before. The plugs were called "Autolite" and were put in by the guy before him. It seemed to snape at the where the metal part is of the spark plug. Its still screwed in there, Is there any way of getting it out? Some kind of special tool? Any idea would be Great!! Thanks

With those mods you should hit around 200kw at the wheels. Might be a bit under or a bit over, but usally 200kw is what people get

Quick Question About A Part Im After
R33Matt replied to R33Matt's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Someone just told me at work its called the Idler Pulley, does this sound right? Wanna try and get one this afternoon. Thanks -
My Aircon belt is off my car at the moment and has been for awhile. So ive decided that I need to fix it. I was just wondering what the Pulley/Bearing is called that the aircon belt goes around? Would calling the Nissan Dealer for this part be the best bet? Im in Perth by the way Thanks!

Yeah that kw reading does sound pretty low, you should also check your CAT and see if its still ok, sometimes they break and bloke up. I also cleaned the stock intercooler out on my R33 as it had oil in it. A good work shop should be able to work it out pretty quick Hope its a easy fix! The difference from what your running now will be huge! lol
-
I used a R34 SMIC on my R33 and noticed the difference straight away. Was a direct swap which was very easy to do, plus didn’t have to cut anything off the car. Seemed to rev out a lot easier and was more responsive. If you don’t want a FMIC and only aiming to do the usual mods with 10psi or 12psi, then the R34 SMIC is perfect. Although Im running a FMIC on my R33 now and it feels even better. Kind of feels like more torque. I was very happy!

I was just wondering if the JJR Intake Plenum kit comes with everything needed to install it? Would I need any extra parts? They are selling for a good price but wasnt sure if I need to do any other modding to make it fit? Also would I need different injectors? Thanks Heaps

What Is The Standard Boost On A R33 Gtst?
R33Matt replied to Torques's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Im pretty sure its 5psi, and then goes up to 7psi..... -
Yeah my R32 would hold boost and wouldnt miss unless it got to the 4k mark. Then it would pop and backfire. Best to check ya coilpacks and change the spark plugs at the same time.
-
I had the same problem with my R32. Around 4-5k it would start popping and backfiring. It turned out to be my coil packs. I sealed my coil packs up and then the car was fine after that Or you could buy some new ones. If that ends up being your problem
-
Stock boost for the R32 RB20 turbo is 10psi. On the R33 RB25 turbo the boost is 5psi until 5000revs and then it becomes 7psi. The reason you would be getting 12psi is become you have the aftermarket exhaust system. The 3inch dump pipe would allow more air flow from the turbo which gives you some more boost.

Hi, Im just in the progress of putting on my JJR Split Dump/Front Pipe when i ran into a problem. There seems to be a bar that is running from the turbo to the motor. It is in the way of the top pipe. Can the bar be bent out the way? I can put the dump/front on by bending the bar away a little bit but its leaning on the top pipe, would this be a problem? Thanks

I was thinking of getting a R33 when I had my R32 as well... Then 2 weeks later a chick smashed into the side of it and it was a wright off... So once i got the cash back I ended up getting a R33. Thought I might as well do the upgrade. The R32 was great for going sideways and doing burnouts, but the R33 does feel alot more comfortable to drive and the dash doesnt rattle, lol. I think if your using it as a daily driver the R33 would be nicer to drive and it has the RB25DET! Which feels and sounds very Nice! but the R32 was alot more fun!! Depends what your looking for
