crap... missed this one... didnt even know it was on
-
this is the T3 flange.... is suppose to bold directly onto standard skyline dump/exhaust I had a custom dump made because I bought my old GT3071R came and the dude threw in his dump pipe and when I went to bolt the new turbo on, the flanges on them were different... so the tuner got some welder bloke in and work his magic Tuner rekons the new dump has made a huge difference in terms of flow and performance... wasnt cheap tho haha
-
this motor is completely standard... and has been running 18-20 psi for the last year or so.... It hasnt complained at all. That also has a lot to do with the fact that I dont put my foot to the floor everytime i want to go somewhere. Also depends on how you treat yr motor... I have a mate destroyed his standard turbo AND engine simply by the way he drove... blardi lunatic
-
pretty sure its .82 ... best to double check with GCG themselves re the part number mentioned above...
-
haha yeh... blardi pricey HKSsssss
-
yeh I wouldn't think it would make that much more even if boost remained constant through out the rev range... I'm seriously considering E85... going to have to look into bigger injectors and fuel setup... but might just wait till I see some more digits in the savings account
-
he knows his stuff thats for sure
-
full boost actually seems to be around 3750RPM... does drop down tho... i think thats due to it being internally gated...
-
here is the dyno print out guys... will post some pics of the set up tomorrow... its a low mount setup... you cant even tell that the turbo had been changed will also try n get more info on new n old turbo
-
I can take a pic and get you details of the old Turbo... Still have that lying around... I've got the item number of the new turbo... if you quote that to GCG, im sure u'd be able to get all the info your after will put up the details after work U

yr 3076 has full boost before 4000RPM? that wud b pretty nuts attached is a pic of the turbo before the old bigger front housing went back on... this housing is brand new and for sale btw... if anyone is keen
-
yeh will scan the dyno sheet tomorrow... not too sure bout the size of the housing actually... will have to look into that one... the turbo isnt the standard T25 3071 GCG advertise on their website... its T3 based... internally gated
-

Hey guys as some of you may know, my old 3071R (which had been bought used) had recently let go and I was shopping around for another turbo. Thought about getting a 3076R as I wanted to hit my power goal of 275rwkw... but decided to stick with a 3071 to avoid any headaches... So placed an order for a new 3071R with GCG and it showed up a few days later... I opened it and instantly thought that it did not look exactly like my old turbo... couldnt put my finger on it but I knew it wasnt the same.. so gave it to Yauvuz at unigroup to whack it in and a few hours later I get a call confirming what I had thought... The housings on the new turbo were different to the old 3071R I had fitted... the old turbo had a front housing with a much bigger intake (diameter wise) which suited my custom intake pipe and the new turbo had a different rear housing.... GCG rekon this new rear housing is 'original' Garrett and much more efficient... So I chucked a sicky from work to get it all sorted... took it back to GCG to get the front housing off the old turbo... got it machined, polished n all cleaned up and it was fitted to the new turbo... then it turned out that the flange on the dump pipe needed to be changed to suit the new rear housing... so bought a flange too and gave it all back to Yauvuz on friday... Plan was to weld the new flange onto the dump pipe and chuck the new turbo in So not having heard anything I gave em a buzz around 6 today and asked em how it was all going... Yauvuz said everything had been put in and said he was about to chuck it on the dyno... So I get a call about an hour later from him... he said that the turbo made 262rwkw with the new custom dump pipe and had potential for more... This surprised me so much as my old 3071R barely made 257rwkw... so I told Yauvuz not to worry bout the extra cash and tune her for what the new turbo could give... And I cannot believe the results.. 291RWKW from a GT3071R... I have full boost by 4000RPM haha... I love it... Yauvuz did inform me that the 291rwkw run was a freak run... but its still happily putting out 285rwkw all the time... I coudnt believe it... but then I drove the car... and Holy Shit... that extra 35rwkw makes a huge difference! I had no idea these turbos were capable of that sorta power... I was told their limit was 270kw tops... and this tune isnt even that aggressive either... Yauvuz said I can thrash around all day and it should all hold... So yeh... just wanted to share... so happy with the result... was intending on selling the car but prob gonna keep it now...

New Garrett Gt3076r
usmair replied to limpus's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
hey mate... my 3071R is gone so really interested in this... is it possible to low mount this setup? and how much do u guys rekon an internally gated .82 housing will set me back? -
heard from the tuner a few days back and he said the inside of the housing has been rubbing against other part so its goooonnee... no point in rebuilding he rekons i asked him about chucking in a 3076 and he said it will require a retune which is another $400-$500 + the additional cost of the bigger 3076... regarding chasing dyno numbers... my tuner said he could prob get close to the 275rwkw with my current setup but the car would be shit to drive on the street... just peak power... nothing midrange... he says too many ppl tune their cars in that manner than post up the dyno sheets on the net and then others expect to get the same sort of power when they go in for a tune... which makes sense... so the decision has been made to stick with the 3071... get a NEW unit this time, not be obsessed with dyno numbers and just have a quick street car

wow thanks for the reply guys, will definately enquire about rebuilding the turbo... when i gave it to the tuner, it was making boost just fine, but was just taking forever to hit full boost (was getting full bost at like 5500RPM, something to do with a leak near the wastegate) so when he took it out to get it bushed, he got a "turbo expert" to look at it and he said it was about to go... so Im gonna have to stop by and see whats actually wrong it it. its a GT3071R, and it made 260rwkw stupid question, but can I hiflow it or getting bigger internals for the turbo... wanted to hit my goal of 275rwkw (i know its only a number but I feel like I didnt meet my objective)... might as well give it a crack while the turbo is out GCG are probably the best ppl to talk to about this right...
