  1. Thing is, it's not like you're trying to find someone with an OS 5 speed. These things ain't cheap. I might flick Bobby a PM. One question I do have, whats the 'nicest' way of going from say 6th to 2nd. Is it a simple case of clutching in and pushing the lever up or should you try and match the revs with your right foot? You cant exactly clutch in, neutral, rev, clutch out and put in the next cog like you would a dog box.
  2. Scotty, bit late now. It's all done and all works. They were a new grind of cam (aggressive ramp rates). Having said that, it didn't take much for you to push the spring down while the cams were out. Point is 'catalogue shopping' and taking the blind freddy approach that 'is jap, is good' definitely isn't the right way to do it. Going a little off topic, back to pulling out VCT .
  3. Brett, that shows it quite well. Doesn't exactly crash and bang like I would have thought. I like where they have put the gear display. Cheeky little touch.
  4. Lol. Rightio mate. I'm not talking OEM parts, I'm talking what often is expensive stuff, aftermarket gear. I'll give you an example.HKS step two valve springs used with an aggressive custom made cam valve floated at around 5500 at 20 psi on my own engine. Pulled them out along with the mega dollar Jun Ti retainers and put in a a set from camtech. Not only did it not valve float but the retainers fit the spring much better, also 1/3rd the price! Exhausts, you'd be crazy not to get a custom one made. It'll fit better and not really be much more expensive. Nice pretty sard fuel rail - doesn't have a seat for the injectors to but up against. Waste of cash. Tomei manifolds - not worth the box they came in as they crack. I've personally done two sets and a mate has one off an Evo currently holding down the concrete in his garage. Cracked to hell. That's only a few examples.
  5. Swap you lamb for "bangers and mash"?
  6. Not far off it! Too many lambs on spits ,"reh".
  7. Give me a drive?I'm yet to drive a jb clutch that drives half decent.
  8. $600 for my springs and Ti retainers. Retainers were actually lighter and fit better than the 2 x more expensive jap crap. Once again, jap shit fails - won't buy jap again.
  9. I honestly don't like them. I've driven a few and found them too aggressive. Nismo hands down, only issue is that I need the centre to mate up to the rest. 3 months on, jim still hasn't got back to me if he can do what I want. However, his clutches won't slip. It'll spin the earth backwards before It slips. Haha
  10. Thanks, Eric. Rent it out and make others pay it off . In the mean time, it's all about writing stuff off.
  11. thrust bearing or not, I put it equal to that dog shit JB whatever he wants to call it.Junk. Shu boy, shu!
  12. I'll never get there, but it's the cruising rpm. We still drive to Vic for DECA's. I ain't sitting in the car for 7 hours at 3500 rpm.
  13. Here is a 3 page thread off the pommie forum talking about this topic. http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/95048-best-seq-transmission-power-cost-service.html
  14. OK. All speeds and ratios are based off using a 265/35X18 tyre, an RPM limit of 8000 RPM and the use of 4.11 diff gears. OS GIKEN Sequential - the stock ratios given when ordering one it looks like 1st 2.609 = 90 km/h 2nd 1.934 = 121 km/h 3rd 1.521 = 154 km/h 4th 1.210 = 194 km/h 5th 1.000 = 234 km/h (stock ratio) 6th 0.852 = 275 km/h - 3158 RPM at 110 km/h I personally like this option. Its a tad shorter in 1st and still can cruise on the freeway without spinning its head off 1st 2.890 = 81 km/h 2nd 1.891 = 124 km/h 3rd 1.468 = 160 km/h 4th 1.174 = 200 km./h 5th 1.000 = 234 km/h (stock ratio) 6th 0.757 = 310 km/h (stock ratio) - 2806 RPM at 110 km/h Stock ratios on a 32/33 are; 1st = 75 km/h 2nd = 120 km/h 3rd = 180 km/h 4th = 234 km/h (stock ratio) 5th = 310 km/h (stock ratio) OS GiKEN 5 speed is 1st = 87 km/h 2nd = 138 km/h 3rd = 190 km/h 4th = 234 km/h (stock ratio) 5th = 310 km/h (or 290 km/h if you get the OS giken 5th option IIRC) PPG sets: 5 Speed (1-4 helical dog set) 1st = 89 km/h 2nd = 143 km/h (farken mega tall) 3rd = 189 km/h 4th = 234 km/h (stock ratio) 5th = 310 km/h (stock ratio) For the sake of it ill throw in the Getrag PPG 6 speed. These are mad! This is with 3.545 diff ratios. 1st = 85 km/h 2nd = 124 km/h 3rd = 174 km/h 4th = 226 km/h 5th = 272 km/h 6 th = 327 km/h - 2653 RPM at 110 km/h Argh, number crunching. Time for a beer
  15. You'll just valve float which will limit your boost and or rpm.
  16. 26 or 28 spline which is more than the Nissan OEM.I agree Marko and that's being polite.
  17. That's another question, the clutch. Be buggered if I'm gonna run an R3C bucket.
  18. Got it and read it Mick. I'm just out at the moment, I'll sit down and reply in a few hours.
  19. Need to work out how to get it in without getting raped by customs. Bit hard with a big fark off box with "OS GIKEN" stamped on the side.
  20. ^^^ then why would you even consider ditching it? VCT is your friend.... Unless you like the "nothing, nothing.... BOOM" delivery, then go for it. At the end if the day, our cars are not light with short stroke, small capacity engine with relatively low wish comp ratios with tallish gearing . Monster cams and throwing away VCT are only going to make them harder to drive on the street. If you don't want it, I'll buy it off you and put it on my engine
