  1. Who is that? My tuner (Yavuz) or myself in regards to the popo's? haha
  2. Nah ah. GTR's are twins. Period. Its all about looking "stock" *ah hem*.... for when the super doods in their crazy SS's pull you over and say 'pop your bonnet son" . You sound like my tuner.... He calls twins "Thomas the tank engines" becasue they choof! Its all about no no no to singles and yes yes yes to twins haha
  3. The thing with the V cam (as much as I would LOVE to have it on my car....as would all of us) is with the big one for turbo's like T04Z's, GT RS's is that you need valve relief pistons. I dont have that and I am not pulling down a engine to fit them! Its interesting that the -5's hold boost longer then the 2530's. Your car made 440rwkw off the top of my head? That enough to scare most people
  4. Steve and I have spoken about your car a few times. Your result is spot on. Whats even more surprising is they used -5's and not 2530's or something else off the shelf "jap". Who's call was that? Was HKS impressed with the result the 5's gave? My fronts im 99% are twin 70's into a 85. Apart from the Midori front pipes they are the biggest ones I have found. Don't Racepace sell some crazy front pipes?Tangomatt had some on his car im sure of it. I wonder what they would want for a set of them? I'll be getting a price for these Midori dumps over the next few days. I aint paying almost $900 for them.
  5. Haha. Yeah thats fine. There will be a little bit of testing going on with my car this year. Different cams (260's and 270's back to back) and now it looks like big fook off dumps with a set of -5's bolted to them! Ash, Straight off good ol Nengun. About $850 off delivered. I might see what a mate of mine can get them for... Usually 20-25% off RRP Greenline dont have them. I dont think I have ever seen a car with these dumps on them. Maybe because alot of companies dont make a front pipe big enough (a proper 3 inch internally diameter). My HKS ones are 70 mm so there will be a lip now. ATM when you take the front pipes off the car the size difference between the rear of the dump to the start of the front pipe is huge. The dumps are that much smaller it isnt funny..... Now if i buy these Midori ones it is going to be the other way round. Dammit!
  6. After having a look around at dumps the Midori Seibi items look like a goer. Internal Diameter of 76.3 mm which is 3 inches. Bigger then the new Tomei items which are 68, the Mines which are 70 (split type) and I would assume the Nismo's. From what I can gather the Series one Tomei's were 2 and 3/4 inch internal diameter.
  7. A mate of mine who is also on here mentioned the other day that his car also has HKS dumps. Now he has built a few cars in his time and is experiencing something similar to what I am... doughy off boost and doesnt make what it should when it is it on song. Seems very funny.
  8. Ill go from the start Nismo AFM's ARC Duel entry 105 mm cooler Nismo plenum Ported factory manifolds GT RS's HKS split dumps HKS Front pipes (twin 70 mm into 85 mm) 3.5 'cat' Kakimoto Full mega N1 catback.
  9. I was having a think today. My last tune on pump 98 was 370 rwkw. The previous owner of my car (Mik) also made 370 rwkw on bels dyno. Now my new tune on E85 is 402 rwkw @ 25 psi. Ok sure I made a big more grunt BUT I would dare say that power was made up by the extra timing thrown at it. So there is an obvious restriction somewhere.
  10. BB, Cheers mate. When the car was on the dyno getting tuned in Nov Yavuz did say that there was a restriction somewhere in the exhuast. I never thought it would have been the dumps. Guess who will be buying a set of tomei dumps now. I wish I knew this when I had the turbo's off less than 3 weeks ago to rip off those rubbish Tomei manifolds! Looks like the huffers will be coming off again! I would say that going back to a set of -5's I will come pretty damn close to the power im making now..... if not more with a whole lot more response. Having your cake and eat it aswell?
  11. Gav, were your -5's straight out of the box or were the tinkered with?
  12. Waste of time.... Just dont drive it hard to your final destination... Rip it out and throw it where the stupid thing belongs... in the dumpster!
  13. It could be placebo but it feels like there is. But that could be just my head. I want to get another set and extrude hone them and really get it spot on! So many people swear by the stockers.... and going by Gav's post above me he has had issues with the Tomei's aswell!
  14. I looked into it for ages. Couldnt get it just off the street. I even asked a good mate who is a professional painter to get the stuff..... no go in the volume i wanted. Cut a long sotry short.... Upgrade your fuel system to handle E85. Once that is done its cheap and getting more and more easy to get.
  15. The old HKS VS Garrett arguement. It really is a mixed bag. Have a look at the -5 vs 2530 results.... There are some cracking results out there with the -5's. Gav from WA, Tangomatt from Vic are brilliant examples of the 'inferior' garretts can do. There are arguements for both sides. Rob from RIPS in NZ only uses the Garretts and look at the numbers he is ripping out of those things! I think it comes down to not just the huffer hanging off the side of your engine but the package. Headwork, cams, turbo size, exhaust size.... You cant just whack a 'big brand' turbo on and expect X,Y and Z.
  16. Thats a good point. My engine is 9.0:1 comp so it is highish. Next time I go back I might mention it to Yavuz (the tuner) and see what he reckons? Either way im back on ported stockers.
  17. Damn right it is. If you look up the hot side of the turbo's they are exactly the same. Gav, were the turbo's modified in anyway or were they straight out of the box and bolted up?
  18. Gav how long have you had your Tomei manifolds on your car? I have been through two sets. Cracks, holes blown in runners and the last set didnt make it to 2000 kms. Alot of that was on E85 (second set) too.
  19. When my car was on the dyno a few weeks ago we went from 1.7 to 2.0 bar. I made an extra 12 kw (414rwkw) or something stupid so we pegged it back to 1.7 bar. I think my exhuast is too small but also I reckon my head port doesnt match my setup. Its a little lethargic down low but doesnt make mega numbers up top. Are manifolds stock or port matched. N1GTR's manifolds are standard and makes more power then that. Those 292 cams are bloody MASSIVE!
  20. Gav that result is just crazy! I dont quite understand how it can make SO much difference.... The hot side is exactly the same size but the cool side is a little smaller... What cams are you running? How thick is the intercooler and what make is it? I have the Nismo plenum so thats done. Headwork? Bigger valves? Exhaust manifolds? Sorry for the million and one questions but if I could a curve like that I would be a very happy man! Having a choice of two gears at any point is awsome... At the moment I have 1 choice.... if im lucky! The RS's just seem really mismatched. This is not the first time I have heard of someone saying that. 2540's anyone? E85 has made it a little better.... but im still not 100% happy with it.
  21. Brett you just want me to do that so you can have my 2.8.... It will be my coffee table... a GT blocked 2.8 coffee table.... expensive but nice to look at . Rockabily. Im 99% sure the -5's are going on the new engine so it wont be for a while... The only issue is what cams to throw at it? Leave the 270's... Go back to 260's? Or burn it all and buy 997 GT2 RS and forget about it all!
  22. This is a thread that I suppose only a few people can really relate or comment on. N1GTR and myself discuss this all the time. I have a 2.8 and he has a 3.0 both with RS's on it same cams (270 @ 10.25) and both on E85. Now we both make enough grunt (400rwkw+) but I need close to 5K onboard for anything to REALLY happen, with the tallish OS 5 speed this is a pain in the arse! After looking through the results theads quite a few guys are making 400 + on -5's even on pump fuel with one 600 rwhp + (Gav from WA).... but then quite alot of disapointing results. Whats the secret to getting the -5's to work? Those of you who have gone from the choof choof RS's back to the -5's how do they compare? Do you regret it? Are they big/small enough?
  23. Hmm. Looks like my plugs are waaaayy too cold. BCPR9ES-8. No wonder its coughing like a asthmatic 100 kms after pulling them in.
  24. First things first Marko.... Get rid of that dirty yellow and black number plate. Yuck! haha
  25. Yeah fair call. I was speaking to the tuner a while ago when it was getting tuned on 98. He said if you have no starting issues and no fouling issues on the 9's its fine. I'll whack the 7's in and see what happens.
