  1. Your running RON 95 fuel on a GTS-T, and it has being modified for extra power?
  2. My 040 has a high pitched whine noise all the time (much louder compared to the stock pump it replaced), noise is most noticeable at low speed & throttle (ie driving around in car parks) as @ higher speed the engine, exhaust & road noises covers it up. Being doing that for 2 years now & still no problem.
  3. How do you survive Aussie's 40C days in a traffic jam?
  4. I don't. Then again, I am a Communist, I'm trained to feel no sympathy for oxygen retards.
  5. How much torque do you need to move that bolt? Was trying this morning but the bitch won't budge at all! I'm using some generic spanner & anymore force I apply I feel that I'm going to snap either the spanner or the metal joints that connects to the bolt...
  6. Haven't being on the dyno yet since the FMIC install. Fixing my tiny coolant leak atm...
  7. Watch & learn how to crap out your car from the masters young one:
  8. You still got the stock R33 SMIC or a upgraded R34 SMIC? If it is still the R33 (tiny) SMIC, it would be heat soaking pretty bad with the upped boost. My car is auto as well & before I got my black FMIC installed, I had a R34 SMIC in there with the usual bolt on mods (exhaust, POD, boost TEE) + SAFC 2 & the car made ~180rwkw on a average temperature day in Perth (that was about 1.5 years ago though).
  9. The thing is, I won't be doing any more power related mods in the near future since the next step is going to cost big $$$; highflow turbo + supporting mods + aftermarket ECU (which is proving diffcult since I want to keep the auto gearbox). So I guess my question should be: would the bigger FMIC change things sufficiently that a re-tune would get noticeable better results? Since a basic SAFC 2 tune is only like $100ish, I probably get it re-tuned anyway in the end... I got the black FMIC kit, got black instead of the usual polished metal colour mainly for stealth than anything else.
  10. Well I just got a Just Jap return flow FMIC (the black one) installed & didn't really notice anything different compared to before. Car felt more powerful but that is probably just in my head . On a related topic, does the additional of a FMIC warrant a re-tune? I had a SAFC 2 tuned for my old set-up (which consists of turbo back exhaust, R34 SMIC, 10Psi boost Tee & POD), now that I have replaced the R34 SMIC with a FMIC, do I need to get it re-tuned again? Or would my old tune be sufficient for the time being? Keen on putting the car on a dyno again to see if there is any difference compared to last time.
  11. Granny snail driver in their white box Corolla see you doing this & not taking 1-2 minutes to accelerate up to 100km/h (like the rest of the snails on the road), think to themselves "bloody f**ken hoons" & call the hoon hotline on you for hooning... Also I keep on hearing that Police can book you for "excessive acceleration", however I've yet to find that particular clause in the traffic hand book.
  12. Hi guys Just spent several hours reading up on old threads of the wonderful world of cooling problems in Skylines... But couldn't find many similar incidents to mine (the few that looked similarly didn't have much info on it). Background info I had 2 past cooling system related problems. 1st incident occurred early February after getting my A/C fixed, I noticed a slight over-heating (stock temperature needle went slightly over 1/2 way), noticed coolant was bubbling when I granny-ed back home. Got it checked out & turned out to be a worn-out thermostat & Radiator cap, replaced both & car seemed fine (needle always stays just below 1/2 way point). 2nd incident occurred about 2 weeks later, the top plastic radiator tank has developed a hair line crack & pissed out a little bit of coolant, took it to the local mechanic and got a reconditioned top tank fitted (thought about using a new OEM one, however lady on the phone from Nissan couldn't find one for a automatic Skyline). The issue Ever since then I've kept a close eye on the temperature & cooling system & it appears that the coolant level is going down at a very slow rate from the reserve bottle. I've marked the bottle & it seems to be losing a coupe mm down the marked line every time I check it (every couple of days in the morning when the engine is cold). The actual radiator is always full with the coolant level up around the neck area. It has being about a month & the coolant level in the overflow bottle has gone down from about ~80% (between the min & max line) to ~60%. Last week I took the car to Natrad, they pressure tested the system & didn't find any leaks & it held a steady 15psi with no drop in pressure. Also I haven't seen any of the usual head gasket issues (oil is nice golden colour, coolant is nice green, no white smoke or bubbles from radiator, car hasn't over-heated). So now I'm stuck on whats causing the coolant level to drop ever so slight from the overflow bottle, only thing I can think off now from reading some old threads on the issue was that it could be some air that wasn't fully bled out when the new top tank went in & is ever so slowly coming out & hence slight drop in coolant levels? (how long does this take anyway? Since it has being a month already.) Is there anything else I should look at? Cheers EDIT: Also noticed the replacement rad cap they put on was some generic one which didn't state the pressure, all it had was the number "130" written on it, does that mean its 1.3 bar cap? After reading some extra info here, I'm thinking off buying new OEM 0.8 bar cap from Nissan later this week (which hopefully doesn't cost me an arm like what they tried to charge me for a plastic bottle cap for the window washer bottle).
  13. Pizza coupon has anything to do with Skyline general maintenance how? EDIT: Also Chapel street... isn't that the street where Jack the Ripper murdered those 5 prostitutes?
  14. +1 Also if you watch the GT-R vs Bullet Train in topgear, Clarkson has a similar opinion on the GT-R. In that it is a great engineering masterpiece & does everything for you, but because it does this it make it very dull & boring to drive as you don't have to do shit. For the "excitement" part I think his looking for some SC + T51R modded Camry (there is one in the world!), with the constant torque & understeer every time you use the throttle & if you aren't paying attention even for a second you will end up in a tree.
  15. You will essentially have the same effect as putting a unenclosed POD; sucking in hot air from the engine.
  16. White Easier to keep clean & blend in with the surroundings.
  17. Another update. Found the real culprit to the 1st noise! Found an old 1/2 moon seal that was left near around the engine & lodged underneath some pipes & wires, who ever changed my rocker cover gaskets must have left one of the old ones there while they put all the stuff back on top. No more think noise under acceleration!
  18. 187kw (180kw for auto) is the number Nissan gave for power @ flywheel.
  19. In true noob fashion I don't actually know... They were put in by the workshop when I got my car tuned. They mentioned that the old ones where starting to show signs of wearing out & could cause problems with the boosted power levels later on. I didn't mind seeing they just charged me according to my original quoted price & what ever they put it, it have being holding well for ~20,000kms.
  20. What do the automatic Skylines (32 to 34) do then? N/A 10-11 seconds? & 7 for turbo?
  21. How much power (hence how modified) are those cars making? I have a fairly stock car (with the basic bolt ons running 10psi) & the last time the plugs were changed was back in 09, when I got it dyno tuned (have covered about 20,000km since then). Still no issues with misfiring or jerkyness (with those 2 year old plugs) when I put my foot down & it revs over 6k... & what ever coils are in there had no dramas neither (never changed since I owned the car 3 years ago).
  22. So with its 7 speed dual clutch auto system, so does that mean you can still drive it like a Camry & just leave it in D? I like!
  23. Fiat isn't that bad, ssanyong is just pig ulgy but not too bad otherwise. Should be Great Wall & Geely
  24. Which would suggest theres a leak somewhere then, now its just a matter of finding where the leak is.
  25. Just started playing, 1st impressions are good & the graphics are pretty...
