  1. Well I just spend the $$$ I was saving for a detector on a gaming laptop instead, so if it still hasn't being banned the next time I save up enough I'll get one... EDIT: quick observation, besides almost always seeing a detector on a import of some sort I've also started seeing a bunch of 4x4 soccer mums with detectors?!
  2. Just bought myself a Asus G73 gaming lappy! No more trying to fit my 20kg desktop into my car anymore (& it doesn't fit!) when going to lans.
  3. I learnt that the hard way
  4. Dam... & I was considering to buy one...
  5. Like what Jeremy Clarkson said? You go through one then pull over for 15minutes to have a cup of coffee/tea then u blast through the next one... Disclaimer: The above info is provided for entertainment purposes only, I do not take responsibility if you do get caught or killed.
  6. On a related topic, my dad just received a fine for speeding during the Easter Break time. Happened on our way to Kalgoorlie, apparently he was going 109km/h (90km/h) area, must be one of those times when he was over taking a multi-stage Semi, I didn't even know that the gutless Corolla could master enough grunt to push to 109km/h in that short period of time... Dad is telling me to keep my mouth shut about this to mum, not because she cares much about the points (4) nor whole 'lower speed is safer thing' but because of the $150 fine... being the typical 'cheap ass Asian' she is gonna kill us both if she found out we effectively just 'wasted' $150. & this makes me the 'safest' driver in the family for the reasoning of having no fines
  7. I found my X-force turbo back exhuast to be a good upgrade from my stock exhuast.
  8. I need to remember that...
  9. Thats my initial thought too. Many family friends (NOT my friends) buys these base model Beemers & Mercs just for the badge. In Chinese Culture driving a Merc or Beemer gives u a 'luxury rich' status... Thats what I told my mum when she thought about buying some base model 318i, the thing with my case was the family friends don't know sh*t about cars all they see is, 'oh its a Merc/Beemer' the driver must be 'rich'...
  10. Which mod chip did you have on the Wii? & what gen is it? I wanted to get a mod chip for mine, but mine was one of the newer models where the old trusted Mod chips don't work... major bummer...
  11. The Wii is like a white goods Toyota Camry, plain looks, gutless engine but its marketed at the wider average consumer & just like the Camry (or any kind of Toyota white goods for that matter) is selling well. Personally I can't tell sh*t between graphics quality of the current gen Consoles since I'm still using an 15 year old CRT TV... blurry vision FTW!
  12. Do you have any particular exclusive games on the PS3 which you want to play? Otherwise I say keep the Wii & X-box... then again I'm a PC gamer so my opinions are not valid
  13. If its anything similar to the base model Beemers (ie 318i) then its just a base model Merc which you are mainly paying for the 'brand'. Got a link for the ad?
  14. Rear-ending will probably increase significantly.
  15. I'll be sure to memories those locations I got rear-ended by a van because I was braking for the amber instead of trying my luck to run a red. Exactly, I got full comp insurance & my car is getting fixed for free at the moment, but still a pain in the a** to go through the whole process again, now I'm reduced to driving around in a grandpa spec Camry Tonkin highway? Although the speed limit goes down from 100km/h to 80km/h at each traffic light intersection.
  16. +1 to iinet too. They did this for me as well, when I 1st joined up I got the 100Gb ADSL 1 plan as ADSL 2+ wasn't enabled on my dinosaur exchange at that time, just this week my exchange became enabled for 2+ & they upgraded me to 2+, now I got 170Gb to play around with... sweet! But if you want budget ADSL 2+, then TPG is the cheapest I think. Although 1/2 of their off peak time is pretty useless (after 3am last time I checked) unless you are either octennial or set up your computer to download at those times. The main problem I have with Telstra & their internet plans is that they charge upload as download too, so if you use torrent alot then you will eat up your quota even faster.
  17. I prefer the "fat boat" shape of the 33 over the other 2. 32/34 looks too squarish to me...
  18. Back in my country (China) 3 Australian cents is equate to almost 20 Chinese cents, which is enough to buy 2 fried bean curd sticks, I still remember buying them for 10c each back in primary school, taste yummy . BTW we had 1c coins, enough to buy 1 bubble gum.
  19. Similar to my situation as well, I get paid sh*t all with my crappy fast food part time job but I rather pay the $ on petrol than take public transport. Also since this year I have started to stay at Uni very late (to midnight 1/2 of the time) to finish up assignments & stuff so public transport won't work properly anyway. Agreed with not doing it in a skyline, although if I were to use the Camry (that looks like every other 1 million Camrys out there) hhmmm....
  20. If a cop wants to defect you for something (whether it is really illegal or not), he/she will get their way... Arguing with them on the spot will only make the defect list longer.
  21. Well jealousy turns to hate, hate turns to action, action turns to murder. This is what I learnt in China...
  22. 1) If you have full comp insurance then you just file a claim with your insurance company & they will deal with the douche bag who have no insurance (sorry but if you can't afford at least basic 3rd party, you can't afford a car...), thats what you are paying full comp insurance for. So you will get your car fixed regardless of whether the other party is insurance or not. If you only have 3rd party or no insurance too (bad!) then it will be up to you to make them pay for the damage, take them to court etc etc... good luck with it as those kind of stuff can drag on for ages. 2) You will have to do all the running & around & phoning up to the other party yourself, the problem arises when the other party refuses to advance or just hangs there then you have to do everything your self (even go to court if necessary) to get anywhere. I had an accident when a RAV 4 didn't give way & rammed on my side, at that time (over 2 years ago) I only had 3rd party & my insurance won't do anything as I'm not full comp, so I had to do the whole chase up thing myself, I was quite lucky in the sense that the other party was pretty honest about the incident & just admitted fault or something as after a couple of text messages & phone calls + police report & filling up a paper the other party's insurance company had sent me, the other companys' insurance company sent me another letter asking me to select my preferred panel shop & they will authorize the repairs. So in summary. -3rd party insurance should be compulsory when owning a car. -Depending on how much your car means to you & how much it is worth, full comp may or may not be worth it.
  23. (bad) luck of the draw I guess. I haven't had any vandalism issues either, but when my mum was a student at Curtin (talking years back now...) her commodore got broken into about 4 times on campus. Seems like a lot of people on here goes to Curtin. Anyone on here owns a white R33 four door? The one that I see almost every day parked at Curtin even when I leave around midnight? Must be a hardworking student LOL
  24. I was involved in such a accident about a month ago, I approached a set of lights, they turned yellow, I was still a fair bit back from when the dotted lines becomes solid, so I braked & stopped. As I was stopping I heard tire screeching sound & I got rear ended by a van who wasn't paying attention/following too close. I got rear bumper damage & exhaust damage. Now if I had floored it when I saw the light turn yellow I could have avoided getting rear ended (& I will need to accelerate up to pass the lights, if I maintain the same speed the light will turn red while I'm about 1/2 way through). But that particular intersection has cameras & the way I see it was, I got rear ended & the other driver was 100% responsible & I'm getting my car fixed for free, but if I try to run the lights I could potentially end up with a massive fine (last time I checked going through red was 4 points & 4 penalty units) & I'm not sure if the camera there is also one of those dual function cameras that also catches you speeding. Since I'm a cheap ass Asian I rather just get rear ended & get my car fixed for free then having to risk a massive fine & having to pay for it myself. Now if it were a 30 tonne road train tailgating me then I would have choosen to floor it pass the lights instead
  25. Sounds like me I can't get any work done at home at all (so I don't even bother), so I pretty much stay at uni till dark (usually to 8pm, although I did pulled a couple of 2am ones) every day since this semester started. I got a major design assignment due this Friday which I haven't started yet, so it looks like I'll be pulling several all nighters the next couple of days
