Import = Dangerous Street Racer
Mayuri Krab replied to spranga's topic in General Automotive Discussion
LOL @ I never get my car serviced at local dealerships even if they were locally made ones. Maybe they (the car companies) should make some cars I like to buy instead of winging. IE Toyota go & bring some of your turbo sedans & wagon here instead of just making grandpa spec Camrys. -

Saw a Civic last week with my friend at uni, who was looking for cheap $5k cars, was standard rice spec, with fart cannon, lowered to like a frog rubbing its belly on the ground... But what amazes me was when the seller popped the bonnet there was atmo BOV stuck in there somewhere & when we asked the seller whether the car has a turbo & he replied 'no'. Then we pointed out the BOV & ask him what is that for & he mentioned something along the line of it increases the air flow & makes the car faster... WTF?! I couldn't keep a straight face the moment he said that... I didn't know people actually did put atmo BOVs on their N/A cars (besides those fake Chinese rock nut things). -

I'm too chicken, anything over 50% throttle on this car scares me I have no problem revving the Corolla near red line (6k) everywhere I go as even if I do that with foot nailed down the car will still be going at snail pace... although I hate that horrible engine noise when that little 1.8 N/A is revved near red line, sounds like its dying. RAC suggests you should accelerate from 0 to 20km/h in 5 seconds or longer -

Hondas (Mainly hatchback Civics) are ruined in my head because of the stupid fanboys (& fangirls?) who talk sh*t & reckons that their frog hatch back with a fart cannon can "chop" everything else on the road... last time I checked you need a sharp blade of some sort to "chop" anything. Its like Apple & their fanboys, I personally don't mind Apple (don't think they are that great either) but the amount of crap their fanboy (& fangirls?) followers does & talks about ruins it for me. Once again something has being ruined by stupid retarded fanboys... The end. -
Yeah same here, its pretty easy to look for a car on car sales for my parents. Not much thought is needed, it just need to go from A to B & back & looks good in their eyes then its all good. I just use the template below: make: Toyota model: Corolla or Camry (depending on if they want a big or small car) max price: within their budget colour: white year: within last 5 years kms: under 50,000km transmission: auto Type: Sedan For their next car my mum has a budget of $60k (maxium limit where she can claim her tax back or something...) I'm telling her to buy a SS commodore instead I've chosen not to tell her about the 6L engine or the 15L/100km fuel usage she will be getting...

Got my SAFC 2 installed & tunned by all star garage. All good. EDIT: realistically SAFC is just a basic A/F ratio signal bender, any decent import work shop should be able to install & tune with no problem. -
Crap. Did I Just Waste My Time With Upgrading The Fuel Pump?
Mayuri Krab replied to KrazyKong's topic in General Maintenance
My Bosch 040 pump was much louder than the stock pump it replaced (which had died). The pump constantly makes a whining sound when its on, although most of the time while driving my exhaust sound masks it off. However I didn't experience any of the other symptoms you have described. -
WD 1TB Black or Samsung 1TB F series (think its F1?). On topic I added another 1.5Tb green drive to my system.

Coming back from work on a Saturday night around 1:00am, got send through the Booze bus. Car in front of me (some riced Magna) got led to the car parks (probably over the limit), the 2nd car; Honda CRV got done for not displaying the correct P plates (they still had the old white background with red P one). Don't know what happened to the cars behind me but from what I can see from my rear view mirror none of them made it through... So in conclusion: I was the only import (& turbo) car in the queue but ended up being the only car that went through with no problem

This is bound to happen sooner or later as it has being happening for years over the Eastern states. Straight V8/turbo/supercharge ban is the easiest for the cops to enforce & therefore they are probably going with that, kw/tonne ratio ban is too difficult considering cops can't tell the difference between a turbo Toyota Chaser with our granny spec Corolla or Camry. I doubt they will ban standard 6cyls cars because that is what most Aussie parents drive with their base model commodore & falcons & many P platers I know who don't care about cars won't buy their own car & just drive their parents car around. So banning that will result in them to have no cars, then their parents will probably start complaining & the last thing the government want is to have parents complaining. They don't care about us "hoons" (for owning a import) complaining because hell we are already seen by TT/ACA as the publics' #1 enemy. I got my GTS-T about 1 or 2 weeks after I got my Ps & I have never got in trouble with the police & have never got any fines so I think this ban is stupid & won't do anything. If you are a responsible driver then you will be responsible even in a bugatti veyron & if you are a wanker driver then you will be a wanker even in a POS Hyundai excel. In fact most of the time I see people acting stupid are in their base model VN commodores, riced up excels & so forth which the ban won't touch anyway... But then again, I really can't be f**ked to care anymore, since I'm off my Ps anyway

I don't go anywhere near 4,000 rpm & the back end still seem a bit twitchy in the rain. Even take off in a straight line, I pretty much need to keep throttle <30% otherwise there is a good chance the rear end will start twitching... My tyres seem to be hopeless in the wet. So now I drive super granny style in the wet, which means 0 to 20km/h acceleration takes close to 5 seconds or so.

Fuel Leak After New Fuel Pump Installed...
Mayuri Krab replied to KrazyKong's topic in General Maintenance
Similar thing happened today for me as well, fuel was just pissing everywhere underneath the car. On the photos posted there are 3 hoses, what is the 3rd for? 2 send & 1 return or the other way around? -
I don't notice anything different with my car on BP or Caltex, fuel usage always remained in 11.5 to 15L/100km Mainly use Caltex these days as the they are usually the cheapest around my area.

Converting My R33 Gtst To A Ls2 With A Cappa Blower
Mayuri Krab replied to redrum33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Put a bunch of stickers on your push bike. Should give all the power you need... -
The LFA has paddle shifts too... I think pretty much all current super cars have paddle shifts, old manual is almost extinct in modern super cars. As for the LFA, I think its a brilliant car, I would consider buy it if I had the $$$. The way I see it, if cost similar to euro super car & have similar(or better) performance/handling & reliability to a euro super car then theres a good chance I'll consider buying it (if I had the $$$), I don't care about brand nor do I see (or care about) the so called "prestige" you get when u buy a particular brand over another.

Got rear ended = broken rear bumper (again! ) & now the exhaust also has multiple leaks & most of the support clip things all got knocked off & middle section of the pipe is just dangling around & scraping on every bump I come across. Still waiting in queue to get it fixed, gonna be waiting for ages due to panel shops being flooded with hail damaged cars... Belts all makes an annoy whining sound when cold & power steering is making annoy whining sound too when I do a full lock turn at low speed.

Ahhhh, My Head Is About To Explode!
Mayuri Krab replied to KrazyKong's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I would get a dump pipe to complete the exhaust system. Complete turbo back exhaust should be the 1st mod done. Intercooler upgrade (either to R34 SMIC or full FMIC), the SMIC is a direct bolt-on to the existing pipes & requires no modification while most FMIC kits will require some kind of modfiication to the bars. Boost controller (& up boost to ~10PSI) I'm currently just using a basic bleed valve & it does the job fine. Some kind of engine management (Piggy back like SAFC 2 is fine at this stage) & get it tunned. This should bring most 33s to ~180 to 200rwkw. -
+1 for corolla as a "it just keeps on running" car. or the Hilux if you don't want to run the risk of getting ran over by soccer mums in 4x4s.

If there is a God, I'm now a believer! My house got struck by the hail with broken windows, satellite dish & water is leaking through the roof yesterday at 4, on that day I finished class at around 2 & I thought about leaving Curtin & going back home. If I had gone home then my car would have being 100% f**ked as my garage is full with crap) but then decided I better stay & do some work coz of this dam hard assignment that was due at the end of this week. THANK GOD for that (& also a big thank you to the lecturer who gave me that really hard assignment which made me stay behind ), my car was left at Curtin car park & therefore undamaged. I think my car & my dad's car were the only ones that are never garaged on our street that were undamaged. All the cars parked at Tuart College were pretty much f**ked with hail.

If water didn't enter into your POD then you should be safe. Also what colour is the smoke? Could be just water vapor? I'm kind paranoid too as well, as I had to drive through several deep water puddles on my way back from Curtin, at one point while I was driving through a puddle, I heard a "clunk" sound from underneath the car somewhere... did a quick check when I got home & couldn't spot anything unusual.
