+1 for what Mayuri Krab said if ur gonna put a OS on there id spare 30GB for vista (if u use vista) and leave the rest for ur porn (and movies )... for defrag, there is a program out there called O&O Defrag Pro v10.0 which is very good... ive used Diskeeper in the past and IMO i think that O&O is better... but you can still try both to see what u like...

that'd b good... thanks

free BUMP $11,000 ... wtf! worth well more then 11k again gl out of interest, what did u upgrade/downgrade to? -
yeh i c what u mean... i guess when im trying 2 explain what ive done is 2 my 33 n what uve done is to ur 32... that rubber grommet in the 1st and 3rd pic u have there is similar to the 33. ive done what uve done there but under that cap there is a screw-on white/cream cloloured plastic piece which all of the hoses and electrical plugs connect to. what i was referring to there was using the original plugs/sockets on that plastic piece because that is 1 sealed unit. if any1 knows what im talking about and has a pic plz post it up thanks

Denmark Drive Safe Campaign

they would never let the networks here in qld show the denmark add. if ppl r soooo offended by using red pens imagine the shit fight that would follow after seeing all those accidents on tv again and again and again. -
had a bit of free time later last nite so i put this image together this is the main reason i dont think that soldering the wire to the lug is absolutely necessary...
-
but if you were to do what ive done, solder 2 ends of wire inline properly, heat shrink both wires and heat shrink them both again 2gether, do u think that the strength of the heat shrink will provide some resistance to the bending/flexing of the wiring. in my opinion i think it will. i understand what ur saying and perhaps in a different situation of doing a connection like this, i would do it differently, but for where this has been done (in my case anyway) i think that the soldering job, combined with the amount of heatshrink used, the connection will be eletrically sound and mechanically strong enough to last many, many years...
-
the only thing that i could think of is after soldering the wire your left with a very hard & strong electrical connection. where the solder ends your left with flexible cable. i guess this part of the circuit could be weak against vibrations and movement?
-
i never knew that soldering was subject to vibration... good to know
-
the connector you see in the image is the 1 that goes directly into the fuel tank itself (which i know you already know)... when u say "go around the connector. it has a rubber boot seal" do you mean the 1 into the top of the tank itself? where the stock wiring harness goes into? its a white/cream colour seal with the 3 hoses on it. heller: "use the existing wiring passthrough into the tank. a little bit of thinner wire won't drop bugger all volts." i agree with this. i am an electrician and i do know about voltage drop/resistance (ohms law) and i dont think that 30-40mm of wire is going to restrict the flow of current/voltage in a sufficient amount to notice any difference behind the wheel. any multimeter would pick up the difference (didnt have it with me at the time of install) but the difference would be (in my opinion) small enough not to worry about. daisu: "I don't see why he needs to solder the crimp connections, as long as he used quality connectors and a proper tool to crimp them" i do have the proper crimping tool and connectors for this and i do not think that soldering the join would make much difference (if any). having said that, if someone can prove me wrong or has a valid opinion on this by all means let me know. the last thing i need is my fuel pump to fu(k up on me whilst im driving somewhere. the reason i used 6mm2 wire for the pump is because the yellow crimps you can see in the fotos are designed exactly for that size wire and the crimpers that i have, have three crimp slots for them (1.5/2.5/6.0). and being an electrician i have access to km's of wire at work. "my work must outlive the component im workng on" - thats good advice

Strange Thing Happening After Battery Went Dead
gumflapper replied to LANFOH's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
that is odd... funny u mention weird shit happening when ur battery dies... 2 weeks ago i went to install a fuel pump into my car and do the 12v rewire while i was in there. disconnected the battery for obvious safety reasons and i got to work. got the pump out and forgot i had no hose clamps. FU(K!! put the mofo back in, reconnected my battery n now my stereo doesnt work? couldnt work out wtf was going on. anways the next weekend (1 just gone) i had my clamps, put my pump in, did the rewire n reconnected the battery again and hazaah! my stereo works rite again? WTF! how's that shit work? lol electricity can be very unpredictable... -
as promised a couple of fotos from the day

did this 2day. also installed my bosch 040 fuel pump aswell. i can honestly say im pretty happy with the results. and i can totally understand how some ppl get confused with the wiring. easy to draw on a piece of paper, a little bit confusing curled up in the boot of ur car. what i was having trouble with was integrating my relay cct into the 33's wiring system. i took quite a few pictures of what i was doing and ill upload them tmrw arvo/nite since im @ my gf's house atm. if you can spare a few hundred $$$ and a saturday/sunday, id reccommend doing this install. i plan later on 2 get my 33 upto around 260-270rwks and having this mod installed in my car will help with this goal. and btw, to all those ppl out there who rekn the pump is noisy? wtf r u's all talkin about? the only time i can really hear the pump is when i turn the car over from "ACC" to "ON". the pump runs for <3 seconds and thats it (priming the fuel lines mayb). driving in traffic i cannot hear a thing and at lights with the stereo off and just the sweeeeet noise of the RB engine humming @ 750rmp idiling, i can barely hear it.
-
+1 FOR THAT!
-
yeh i understand about voltage drop and all that stuff (im an electrician)... i was just wondering how ppl decided on how to go about it that was all...
-
anyone?
-
both actually... what i have done is wired up the "power" side of my relay unit in 6mm2 wire. im gonna mount this next to the other relays next to my battery in the boot. signal wire coming from the ECU obviously goes to the standard relay which is already next to the battery. so what im doing is taking the signal wire from that, using it to energise the coil for the fuel pump relay and using the relay to switch the fuel pump on and off like the stock wiring does... thats all sweet... what i would like to know is how ppl have run their wiring from their relays, into the fuel tank to the aftermarket pump... pump btw is a bosch 040
-
just a question... im gonna do this weekend. i read a few pages back someone asking the question "how is the new wiring run from the fuel pump itself to outside the tank?" how has everybody done this? i was thinking of making up a plug of sum sort and trying to use the stock connections on the cap to the fuel tank. but finding empty plugs that are compatible with those sockets are hard to come by, and by that i mean i cannot find any. so how has everybody done this? uploaded a diagram of what i am going to do electrically but am still undecided on how to get the power into the tank for the pump any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated
