Bent Chassis Rails - Jacking issue ?
The_Hunster replied to Strexx's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Thanks for that mate. Unfortunately I was looking into those replacement sections from nengun some time ago, but I became informed that r32 gtr/gts4 chassis rails are in fact slightly different from r32 gtst (gtr are wider to accomodate 4wd) and I've not been able to find anywhere that still manufactures gtst rails ? -
Bent Chassis Rails - Jacking issue ?
The_Hunster replied to Strexx's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Just wanted to bump this thread up again as I am looking at potentially undertaking the same project on fixing my crushed 32 gtst rails. If the original poster is still around do you mind sharing where you found the company in Japan that manufactures replacement rail sections? I'd also be interested to know how progress on your repair job is going. -
What Can I Modify Without Approval?.... And Im240 Update.
The_Hunster replied to a topic in Western Australia
Wait, what!? Didnt the first post of this thread detail there was a moratorium on this bullshit IM240 test for six months? Why is your mate bothering to get the test at Kosteci's, and why are they still charging like wounded bulls when their practices are obviously under the microscope?? -
shit man inglewood thats my neck of the woods never had any problems myself...its a pretty good area really. What side of beaufort street you on? railway side? lived in the area my entire life and never knew there was a youth hostel around...unless your talking bout that place near coles? heard its pretty dodge...poor little community paper delivery boy got beaten up by some pricks from there...

was running GAB's (not the best coil overs i know) but they are height, damper and camber adjustable but the inspector (who was a prick) insisted that there wasnt enough give in them and that i needed to change suspension. A 2 way isnt dangerous in the hands of an experianced driver (which can be said for a lot of 'illegal' modifications) but ultimately it is a tool that is unnecassary for a car which is supposedly only used as a vehicle to transport one from A to B (which in the eyes of the govt is all cars should be used for). 2 ways get both wheels spinning under acceleration and decceleration which is great for drifting or track work but surley this could be percieved by authorities to be a dangerous item when used incorrectly, over zealously, irresponsibly or in inclement weather conditions (ie. rain). Your probably right, 2 ways probably are legal, and it would figure considering the vast inconsistancies in legislation regarding vehicle modification, but it just seems to me that when you go to the lengths of prohibiting things such as carbon fibre bonnets and roll cages becasue of their potential harm, it seems only logical that 2 ways would be banned as well??

yes i know some ppl have passed with coilovers... but generally decent coilovers are very stiff and stiff suspension, with little give, will not pass (i know cos i've tried twice to get a car over running coilovers). And im pretty certain 2 ways are illegal, they're a pretty 'race spec' mod that can make a cars handling quite dangerous on the road, so i don't know why they would be legalised (but perhaps once again you could get away with it if the inspector didnt notice it was there )

dude just use your common sense...cos its really just a matter of the 'luck of the draw' when it comes to the pits... car will have to be i good and tidy running order...no leaks, creaks or other shit... basic factory things like windscreen sparyers, reverse lights etc. have to be working basic mods like FMIC, strut braces, quite after market exhaust should be able to pass without to much of an issue.. but obviously screamer pipes, loud exhausts, 2 way lsds, coilovers etc will get you a big ass fail. do a search cos im sue this has been covered heaps and yeh just use your brain...may have to put it over twice...but ull get there eventually

My suggestion would be def to go for the purchasing of a factory turbo skyline... have you ever owned a turbo car?... i mean it just may be an idea to cruise around/own a fairly stock turbo skyline before you embark on an incredibly costly and time consuming build. You may find that the fun of cruising around and hearing your turbo spool is actually out weighted by the huge insurance premiums, expensive petrol, constant maintenance etc that is required (and thats just with a bog stocker, you can factor in a whole lot more of that shit if you get a 400kw monster)... alternatively you may find that you absolutely love the car and dont mind the draw backs that a turbo brings... thus u'll be inspired to do your build and you can justify all the $$$ your spending cos you know that you'll defintely enjoy the end result and not resent it. I would just be very wary of embarking on a huge build before you've even enjoyed the benefits of a turbo car, i mean how many times do you see ppls project cars up for sale that have had heaps of cash invested in them but are still far from being completed cos the owner has lost enthusiasm for the project, these scenerios are terrible because you lose bulk cash in selling an unfinished project and you also are hugely disappointed that your vision never became reality (and yes i talk from experiance having lost interest in my incredibly costly drift car build). Spending time and money on a car can become very annoying and unpleasant when you seldom get any fun out of it. Anyway mate just some more friendly advice to digest

lol that shit is funny...wanna put that on a t-shirt or sumthin

Yeh dont have the benefit of a NCB yet sadly cos first car (old lancer which i first learnt to drive in) was insured in parents name, 2nd car was a 180sx which i only had 3rd party fire ad theft for cos insurance was $$$ and no one would touch it for comprehensive cos it had a harlequin paint job, 3rd car s13 which is unrego'd track car... and 4th car is current lancer (1st car i have had comprehensively insured in my name)...so yeh with NCB your right things can get a BIT better but i'd say a lot of young ppl would be in my position of having not had a car fully in their name thus not amounting a NCB...

IMO if you've got 13k but you still don't want to buy a turbo car cos itll set you back to much $$$ i think you should start looking at other hobbies...realistically insurance premiums for driving decent turbo cars don't start getting reasonable until your 25+...i've been off my P's for over 1 year and have absolutely no driving infringements or accidents to my name yet when shopping around for comprehensive insurance just for my 2002 lancer i was getn quotes of $1100-$1500 for a four door, 4cyl non turbo fwd!!! Basically you've got to bite the bullet and ware the stupid premium, or just get 3rd party fire and theft for cheaper or just realise your passion for nice cars doesnt out way ur passion for having a healthy bank account...cos everyone knows the most expensive thing bout old turbo cars aint insuring them...its maintaining them

well if he's wanting to do it to gratify his own interest in ricing up gay cars i guess he should go for it.... but if he's doing it to impress ppl id tell him not to bother cos the only ppl who won't be thinking he's a douche will be 13 yr old girls who will be eyeing off the car not cos they think the drivers hot shit but cos they hope their daddy can buy them one like that when they have their L's... but in seriousness im no Lancer hater...i've had two including my current daily which has been dumped on its ass (by previous owner) and has factory kit, mags etc. It looks all right, is economical and reliable which is all you really need in a daily car, just don't pretend its something that its not (ie. dress it up to look like some wanky street racer, cos you know even a stock falcodore will kill it in a straight line).

Answer: its a Nissan lol had the same problem with my 180sx and i've heard heaps of other guys having similar problems with the electrics in their Nissan sports cars (especially with the dash gauges). My RPM needle started to go, then the tripometer died and finally the speedometer started skipping aswell... was considering havin a auto electrician look at it but instead i decided itd probably be cheaper to buy an Apexi RSM which accurately reads all those functions and has the added bonus of looking awesome
