My car then turned into a heap of junk and kept stalling. But I never hit anything. I thought it might have been something to do with the heat at first (41 degree day). Everytime I came to a stop or slowed down for a corner the idle would drop and stall. Nearly crashed a couple times (try steering with the engine off!). I also heard a lot of 'bump bump bump thud' noises...I thought something was stuck under the car. But I think it was actually backfire (didn't sound good at all. Kinda like some banging at your undercarriage with a sledgehammer). When I had a thorough look under the car I noticed some sort of cable/line snapped off the catalytic converter and was just dangling. It's been massively warped from being dragged along the road. I know I'll have to take it to an exhaust place to fix. But my question is... Whats the purpose of this line/cable? Would this cause any other problems to my car? I took a picture but I won't be able to post it until tomorrow. Any help would be great. Thanks guys.

Look for private sales. Dealers will always milk you for that extra few thousand dollars to cover their costs of minimal sales.

I bought an R34 SMIC today for $200! Gonna install it tonight.

With all these opinions I'm still wavering between the FMIC and the R34 SMIC! I do have in mind a turbo upgrade down the track. I have a feeling mine will give up soon.

If you have a $2000 budget, then you could probably find a reasonable R31. If you have a $20000 budget, you could even pick up a R32 GT-R. Otherwise a very modded R33 GTS-T or even a stock R34 GT-T. In terms of the colour, I don't think it matters.

Alright, I'll put the ECU on my shopping list. Since I'm keeping the mods fairly basic, I think I'll go for a piggy-back instead of the full one. Can anyone recommend an affordable (yet) reliable one? I used to own a Honda Integra Type_R and I knew a lot of about ECU's for them...but very newbie here! Thanks.

I can't believe I forgot the exhaust! I have a full 3" turbo-back Fujitsubo exhaust. The pod filter is enclosed in a heatshield (compatible with the stock snorkel). How could I re-enforce the intake pipe? I was thinking of getting a shorter alloy pipe. Is it really necessary to upgrade the ECU if i'm planning on getting an FMIC? Thanks.

Hi guys. My R33 is pretty much stock apart from pod filter/aftermarket plumb-back bov. I'd like to change the SMIC to an FMIC. Any problems with this besides a bit more lag? Thanks.

I have an R33. I think it looks pretty sexy. But when I see R32s? I love their defined sharp lines. And R34s? They truly look like "Godzilla's"! So tough. Like a parked one could mow me down.

No way you could modify the stock airbox to fit a pod Well actually you could but it wouldn't look too nice. I'm still after a heatshield for my pod filter. Anyone got one?

I think even with the 50/50 atmo/pb you will still get stalling issues, also the running rich issue. Update your ECU and then get an atmo
