It seems to be going back to the original issue now, was not as bad when I put the AFM's and filters back in. But today it's happened several times in a span of 30mins or so. I don't think it is a solder issue with the AFM; I've already pulled the AFM's apart and the solder is fine. I think if it is the AFM, its purely faulty and not anything to do with bad solder points. It's just when it starts happening I'll usually pull over, turn the car off and back on again, then it will be fine. I think there's a good chance it's something like a hole in one of the hoses. Although difficult to tell, but if its a pin hole or something. This could explain the intermittent issue, maybe occasionally the hose moves and causes the hole to open. Other than this I'm not sure. My friend said his car had exactly the same problem. There was a crack in one of the hoses. Although I've checked the hoses already, I'll try doing a more thorough check. Or just replace them... Thanks alot, appreciate your help

I've cleaned out the AFM, replaced the filters. I knew the filters wouldn't be the cause; I thought the oil etc in the AFM sensor might have been caused by the worn air filter. It seems to have fixed it to some extent; but I'm still having some problems It doesn't not have exactly the same issue after cleaning the AFM, replacing the filters. Now intermittently it will seem to lose power for a very short time. Maybe 1-3 seconds, almost like its missing but I don't think it is actually missing. It's similiar to the previous issue, it feels the same. When it starts having the issue, if I accelerate it will go back to normal. One time I stopped at the lights it stalled as well. This issue usually happens when I'm just driving along, not accelerating. Also, sometimes when I first start it(when its cold) it will rev up and down. This is intermittent too, usually will drop to about 300 or so revs the just back up to 1100 or so then go back to 900 and it will be fine. I've also noticed the oil pressure seems to run high when its cold, around 7 on the metre. Once it warms up, it's ok, sits around 4. If I boost it for abit when its warmed up, it will go higher. I thought this was normal; it always went up abit when I'm in boost before having these problems. Just now after having these problems it seems to have high oil pressure when its cold. I have not noticed it doing the exactly the same issue where as before it wouldn't rev over 1000 or 2000 revs, so thats why I think its fixed to some extent. Any ideas for these other issues would be great. Thanks

I concur...my line will be lonely at work

Thanks. I believe it will be listed as GTR/V in Nissan Fast if it is a V-Spec. Just GTR for a normal GTR.

Hmm...I've already ordered some from Trojan. I don't know if they are dual or triple layers... I need 150mm filters, they only had 200mm. Which were the green ones; I will assume this means I will get the same ones but in 150mm. Oh well; I'll have to ask them about the triple layer filters. Thanks for the help

The temperature is fine; everything seems to be fine other than the original issue. I think it's AFM. Waiting on filters, I will have to see how it goes once I can replace these. One AFM's sensor had alot of grease or dirt on it, due to most likely a bad air filter. Hopefully it will be fixed after I replace the filters.

Well it has a HKS kit on it now; so it's not really cheap. I'm only looking for the filter itself and not the kit. I've found a place I can buy the HKS replacement filter, so its all good. Will have to see how to goes once I get them tomorrow.

Yeah it stuffed alright lol. I've actually had problems with my AFM because of this. When I took it out I noticed it is tearing on the outside. It must have been in there for a while I'll pick one up from Trojan tomorrow hopefully. Thanks for the help

Thanks! There's some on ebay for $30 I think. I just want them asap so I can drive my car again The old ones are in very bad condition...
-
Yeah, its the dome shaped(Mushroom) pod filter. Do you know where I can buy these 3a Racing Filters? Would normal car stores sell them? Autobarn etc? I've been looking online, I've seen the ones I need. I know I can get them if I buy online but wondering if any local shops(Canberra) would sell what I need. I don't know if its normal, but the filters themself look abit cheap..when I took them out. I was very careful and noticed it was starting to get a small tear on the outside. One is very bad, while the other looks like it is just starting to happen. I'd assume these have not been replaced in a while. I'll clean the AFM sensor, replace the filters once I get them. And the spark plugs! lol Hopefully it fixes it

Hi, Just wondering if anyone knows of a place I can buy the HKS pod filter replacement? I just need the foam/filter inside. I know I can order these online or get them from ebay. But is there a place in Canberra that sells them? Or some kind of equivalent I could use? Thanks
-
I've just taken the pod filters out. They are HKS pod filters. They are not in good condition. I'll need to replace them. I guess this might be why I'm having these problems. Now to find out where I can buy them lol. Hopefully cleaning out the AFM and replacing the filters will fix my problems. Thanks alot for all the help

I've checked the AFM's just now, they seem fine. No dry solder points. I'll try checking all the hoses, bov. I hope it is something easy like this. It's just strange though, I've read some people were having this issue when hitting a bump on the road. But mine first happened when I was stopped at the lights. I don't think it is the AFM's unless one of them is faulty itself. The solder points seem fine. It's just really intermittent. I drive for 3 hours the other day with no problems. then in the last 10 minutes it occured again When I pulled them out, I checked the connections. Seemed like the were connected properly. Any other ideas? Thanks Edit: I've just noticed in one of the AFM's there is alot of dirt or grease in the centre piece where the air flows through... I couldn't see this until I put a torch on it, the other AFM is completely clean. Would it be possible this is causing the problem?

I've had the car for about 2 months and this happened first time today, otherwise it's been very good. But I will try what you guys suggested. Thanks so much for your help

The car is stock standard apart from the exhaust and pod filters.

I'm pretty impressed with the 595's. I actually feel safe to drive in the wet now...lol I have not got them to lose traction at all yet. Thanks, Mick!

Hi, First this is an intermittent problem. I only first experienced this today. I stopped at the lights and the car started idling very roughly. I took off and it would barely accelerate, seemed to be once I got around 1,500-2,000 revs. It's difficult to explain but it would not rev any higher than 2,000 and kind of makes a missing sound and reving up and down... I rolled off the road, tried to rev it in neutral..still the same. I turned the car off, started it again was still the same. I waited about 2 minutes and tried again, it worked fine this time. I parked the car for about 1 hour, went for a drive. It was fine for about 10 minutes then started with this issue again. This time when I pulled over..it would not rev past 1,000 even with foot to the floor. I turned it off started again, drove to where I was going and parked for about an hour. Started up fine again, now I drove the car for about 3 hours on and off. No problems at all. After I stopped again, left it for 30 minutes. Driving again, after 15mins same issue. This time when I let my foot off the accelerator, the car stalled. I started it again, the problem still persisted. Turned it off for 1 minute, I drove home. around 10mins. It was fine all the way. I've noticed when it starts doing this...on idle it will rev higher than normal and sometimes it will rev up and down on idle. Sometimes up to about 1,500 to back down to almost a stall then back up. It usually revs at about 900 when its running properly. It's really intermittent though. I thought it might have something to do with the fuel but I've really got no idea what it could be. Also it has another issue on idle which is extremely intermittent. It might happen once every 2 weeks. Sometimes when I start it, it will idle abit roughly and stall right away. Sometimes this happens when I've been driving for a while and come to a stop. I was planning to get my mechanic to take a look at it on next service. I didn't worry too much because it doesn't happen often. The thing is when it's not having the issue, it runs perfectly... If anyone has any ideas of what possibly could be causing this, that would be great. Thanks in advance

I'm Ticked Off...what Gets You Wound Up?
Line replied to LTSJayce's topic in Australian Capital Territory
I've noticed, so many people do not care about the speed limit. Even when going through Speed Camera's lol. I don't know if its something they know that I don't...but I used to drive home everyday on the Parkway. I'll drive through the new Speed Camera here on the speed limit. There's usually atleast one car overtaking me through it. I've been overtaken by speeding buses alot too, and through speed camera's. Anyone experience this as well? It's just abit annoying to me. -
I have not had any real close misses. I've got the occasional cut off when I'm inside a round-a-about. One time I had to completely stop inside a round-a-about because of this. Not sure exactly on the street. Mason in Turner I think.. The guy waved though, knowing he was wrong; but he could have atleast looked lol When I was leaving the round-a-about this bike rider..decides to not look when going accross the road. I held my horn on; he didn't even look. It was very close.. One thing I've noticed when driving on highways...it seems particular on the Monaro highway traveling to Cooma and on the way to Bega. Van drivers always tailgate me for some reason lol I've had like 5 people do this to me, last time this guy in a Van was tailgating me. Extremely close; and swerving left to right behind me. When I got into Cooma; he overtook myself and 3 other cars on the inside.(There isn't even a lane here, it's just the side of the road.) I'm usually driving speed limit and not doing anything wrong, no idea why Van drivers seem to be most common with this. It can be quite funny though

I'm glad I checked my car with Fast. I know it's a genuine GTR V-Spec now I had quick look at my rear diff, couldn't see any fins or ribs there. I might have to have a better look later on.

Yeah, I've got 203.5KW on a Dyno sheet from Ultimate Tunes in Phillip for Skyline Dyno day. Looks like it is the same car Yes, it has HKS Pod filters as well. Besides the exhaust, everything else is standard that I know of. I'll only need to pay for the tyres now, insurance etc is already sorted I've been looking around for prices on modification. I agree it is expensive, but I think it will be worth it. Still. I'll probably wait a while before I do anything serious.
-
Hmm...that is interesting. I always assumed a V-spec is kind of like a limited edition and not many of them would be around. I did see another one the other day. R33 GTR V-spec, very dark purple or black in Dickson; it was hard to tell. It had the boot key hole...which mine does not have. Is this series specific? I have no idea which series mine is. Maybe Nissan Fast will be able to provide this information, hopefully.

Thanks for the info. Posted my VIN. A20089, You are right, it is the same car I'll have to take a look at the Torque computer. I'm interested in doing some serious modifications to my car in time. Probably not for a while at this point or I'll go for some minor modifications soon. I'm not sure yet. I'll send you a PM about the tyres, Mick. Thanks.

Hi, Can someone please check VIN: BCNR330218? Thanks.

Thanks for the advice, Bullet32. I'll probably give the Federals a try Which Federal dealer are you at? Thanks!
