i have emailed him but havent got a reply yet. is it still for sale?

my mate has a modded MX6 and i would whip him at every traffic light drag when my R32 was stock, you should be beating him, but as others suggest we need more specific turbo specs and a/f ratios make a difference. now that my car has a fair few mods, it is defenantly slower in very low rpm, but from 3500rpm there is no way the MX6 can touch it. are you launching properly, cause if you have a pretty big turbo and are bogging down it will take for ever to catch up...

www.greenline.jp cheapest by far!

As title suggests looking for an R32 GTR. Preferably silver or gunmetal, not too fussed on colour. But budget is $29k or under. PM me if you have anything. prefer Sydney location. Ben.

Oil & Water fittings. GT35 turbo
bbenny replied to Skyrine-Dave's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
all your water and oil lines for the turbo will be on the exhaust side. when i upgraded turbo i had to get one of the "GT fitting kits" from GCG. these kits include all the fittings from the turbo for GT type turbos (HKS GT and garrett GT series) once i had all the turbo fittings it was a matter of making a trip to your local fittings shop like Enzed or Quickfix. where i got all my lines and matching fittings for the block side. I used stainless braided line with teflon inner. make sure you get the teflon stuff cause it doesnt perish under extreme heat. as for the oil return (the chuckiest return pipe, I bought some silicon pipe from GCG to match and just used some quality hose clamps. good luck! -
haha roy you would make me a very happy man! but i would also demand a spin in your TVR. I tried my luck last night on the pokies, and was suprisingly successful. i increased my bet 20fold. unfortunately i only had a dollar in the machine, so it might take a few more trips to the pokies... but its a sure thing!

regarding the expenses of turbo Vs management sydney kid said: "Benny is comparing injectors ($600), GTRS turbo ($4K), std ecu tune ($500), pipework (inlet, outlet, dump, water and oil say $500), less sell 2530 for say $1.6K. Total $4K WITH a Power FC ($1200) and a tune ($500) Total $1.7K. I am not surprised that the $4k upgrade will feel "a ton of power" but for 2.5 times as much cost, I would damn well expect that." the thing is i have access to this particular turbo at a very reasonable price, so i would see maybe a $200 difference between the two options. so expense isnt really an issue. i guess my opinions for the turbo are being miss read here. lets start again. here is the deal. i have the choice of going PFC or GT-RS either upgrade will cost exactly the same. is it still more worth while doing the PFC? which will give me the best "all round" results. currently the car is my everyday driver, but im looking at spending a bit of time at WSID, so 1/4 mile times are important, yet streetability is also. i dont want to sound like i have my mind made with gettinga turbo, but i want to hear everyones arguments for either side to help with my decision making. cheers!

Its not going to be V8. ill put some money on this one. Speed magazine seem to publish alot of hyped up crap. i think they were talking about how nissan is releasing a V8 four door family car probably an infinity or something. how many times do you read speed magazine and think "these guys are talking shit!" Nissan have put way too much development into the 3.5 V6 we see in the 350Z. it has also been released by nissan, that they have been testing heaps of turbo set ups on the engine too. i even remember reading in HPI or Zoom some time ago, of garrett japan doing the turbo set up in their V35 skyline coupe. with amazing results. they used a fairly small turbo set, but produced huge mid range and very impressive top end, and as it turned out... it was Nissan who requested and payed for all the turbo development for the 3.5L the V8 thing is just to stir up everyone. consider all the new N/A engines the japanese have designed lately... all of them make more power than the 5.7L V8 motors we see produced here or in the US. the japanese love their light weight all alloy 6cyl engines and get a ton of power out of them. my money is on a twin turbo 3.5l V6. and i bet it will be pretty impressive. why would they need to completely develope a new V8 when they have a very potent V6?? it wouldnt be economically viable for them... thats my ten cents anyway

funkymonkey, not getting GTR turbos, but the new HKS GT-RS turbo. this one is way passed the VG30 and re-chip yeah management would be good, but i am considering this to be "the last upgrade on this car" haha im sure we have all said it a few times, but i want it to be worth while a new project after this maybe, wouldnt mind a 1JZ powered Chaser at the moment haha we will see what work is holding around the corner and if it permits, something different would be good. but i have fallen hook line and sinker for the R32
-
yeah go the stock, im making 225rwkw with the stock and plan to keep it stock and hope to make over 250rwkw
-
well considering the GTRS would give a good power band, i guess the question is what will give the best power band for money spent. do you think that a good PFC tune on my 2530 will give a better average power increase than upgrading the turbo and having the ecu re-chipped?
-
you are pretty much on the money roy, I want to see some decent power figures and try something that no one else has, i like to be different! and if i can get an ecu tune at $300 (which is something i would have to pay getting the PFC tuned) and a turbo at the same price as the power FC will cost then i figure i will be seeing a better gain in power. whilst i may loose a little in response down the bottom, from about 4000rpm-7500rpm i should see some serious power and torque increases.
-
yeah i know what you are talking about roy, ive been putting up with the std management too. but i just hate dishing out wads of money and not gaining a ton of power! haha i just need to make more money and get both PFC and GTRS. maybe that will sort out all the problems. if anyone out there wants to sponsor my car with a PFC i would be greatful. PM for my account details. direct deposit is no problem i also want something different, and i dont know of anyone running the GTRS on an RB20 here in Aus.
-
ive already thought that through Jay, and it ends up being much of a muchness... the turbo will cost me around $2800 new so once i have sold the 2530 the amount actually leaving my account will be similar to the PFC. so i just want to get an idea of what will be better bang for my buck. the only reason im leaning towards turbo is because, i will see a decent power gain and the R32 ECU is re-tunable...
-
haha no i havent made up my mind, its just what im leaning towards at the moment, later in the day i might be leaning towards PFC. thats why i want opinions
-
well at the moment, it is a pretty good tune, and very drivable, the 2530 is extremely responsive, but from what i read the GTRS has very similar response to the 2530 but flows 400ps as aposed to the 2530's 320ps. So if i get the ecu re-chiped at a fraction of the cost of management, i will make a much better peak power, but with similar low and midrange response. but i can understand that a rechip is not on the same par as aftermarket management. i guess i just want the most bang for my buck like everyone else. and i tend to lean a little more towards turbo as i can see a more noticable gain...
-
Merli, im currently running a re-chipped std ecu. Roy, if i push anything any further im going to need injectors regardless of my turbo, they are pretty close too 100% duty at the moment i think. i would love to have a fully tunable management, but i want to feel more power! and i think that after spending about $2000 on management i will feel disapointed, where as spending that on turbo and injectors, with a new ecu chip i will get some decent power gains. i want to FEEL the difference and i think i can get the 250rwkw mark with the GTRS...
-
Hey guys, Im tossing up between getting a brand new GTRS turbo or a Power FC for my RB20. so far im making about 225rwkw with a 2530 turbo, but i want to make closer to the 250rwkw mark and have read nothing but great reports about the GTRS turbo. I know the PFC wont get me that sort of power, but i would expect to maybe see an extra 10rwkw and better power curve. what should i expect to see with the GTRS turbo? considering the 2530 is rated at 320ps and the GTRS rated at 400ps. please let me know what you think. In the end either option will cost me roughly the same amount considering i can sell a 2530 turbo if i upgrade to GTRS. cheers Ben.

2835 would be sweet, if you want to ditch the manifold you could go an internally gated GT-RS turbo. you will make easy 240rwkw with that. im looking into getting one of these for my internally stock RB20, and it makes over 220rwkw with the 2530. im hoping the GTRS will bring it up closer to 250rwkw. the GTRS is still in HKS 25 series of turbos, is rated at 400ps like the 2835, but is said to respond more like a 2530. from all the articles i have been reading it is a very impressive package. only problem is they only just released it in T3 form (a bolt on for RB20/25 manifold) so it looks like the only way to get one is brand new... not many second hand bargains about.
-
yeah its bad, i regret all the GTR driving i have done, because nothing has come close to comparison. they should have a mandatory sign on the steering wheel, stating exactly that once you drive this car everything else seems like crap! it can cause serious depression amongst people lacking the money to own one... i am one of the unfortunate.
-
oh that sounds great, i might have to get you to fax it to me if everything i am reading is right, then i think im going to give my mate a call this week and get one sent over soon. i just dont want it to sacrafice alot of that usable mid range the 2530 delivers, im very happy with this turbo, but i have been bitten by the bug, and 300rwhp just doesnt feel quick enough anymore. hows yours going roy?
-
two possibilities, firstly the std RB20 turbo doesnt flow crap, so i wouldnt expect it to hold 14psi all the way to redline, it will more likely spike then drop a couple of psi, as your engine gets hot the ECU will alter the ignition timing which will change boost levels/response. I know when i tuned my car on the dyno i would set my boost controler at 38 points which would make 1.1bar on the dyno, after the tune i double checked this setting on the road and my car was still hot from all the dyno runs, it made exactly 1.1bar again. then that night it was much colder and boost jumps to 1.2 with the same 38point setting on the boost controler. the air temp and motor temp will vary the timing determined by the ecu.
