Using S-AFC on z32 AFM on R33 GTS-t
bbenny replied to justified2.4's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah i have not experimented myself but have heard a fair few reports that it didnt work. i also have an SAFC II and was going to do it, but have been told its virtually impossible to get a good tune that way, there were problems with idle etc. unfortunately your ECU cant be chipped to accept the Z32 AFM. as thats what im doing now. -
they are the same mate. you will see alot of dumps advertised as RB20/25 pipes. also the fact that RB25 turbos bolt straight up to an RB20 would suggest the dumps are identical.

Ok well I finally get my car back this week after months at the panel beaters and I've already decided it needs more power to avoid dangerous Camry drivers. Im planning on getting my ECU re-chipped and am considering upgrading injectors and AFM at the same time. I have already upgraded fuel system, exhaust, cooler filter etc and its running a HKS 2530 turbo. My thoughts were to throw in some RX-7 injectors as they are a straight fit to the current rail and match the standard impedence. Ss for AFM - naturally the Z32 - i dont even think there are any other options there. but if so let me know! So has anyone done this yet? if so what are your experiences and does anyone have any suggestions or ideas before i go ahead with it all. Any info would be much appreciated. Ben.

1993 R32 GT-R Midnight Blue/purple Pearl colour Advertising this car for my Dad. This car has a brand new engine, only has run 2000kms since rebuild. the new engine included cylinder bore, new pistons, new oil/water pumps, balanced and nitrided crank, full head service and porting and a 1.2mm Grex metal head gasket. I couldnt possibly list everything included in this build but the build also included two brand new reconditioned high-flow turbos. This new engine produced 305rwkw on an untuned Veilside ECU with A/F running well under 11 on 0.8bar (12psi). So there is ALOT more power to be made with a tuned ECU or PFC and boost wound up. The pics shown really dont give justice to this cars colour, it is the best colour paint i have ever seen and grabs alot of attention without looking over-the-top. List of other Modifications: Body/ Asthetics: - Full respray in Midnight blue/purple pearl - Full Nismo body kit - Powder coated rocker covers (candy apple red w/pearl) - Polished plenum, intake pipes etc Handling: - Tein height adjustable coilovers - Enkie 17X10inch wheels all round - Strut braces and sway bars Power mods: - 2 x fully reconditioned and high-flowed turbos - Veilside tuned length SS front pipes - 3inch high flow cat - Veilside 4inch cat back SS pipe - Invidia 5inch SS Muffler - HKS tripple plate clutch - Trust Drag intercooler 4inch core (massive!) - Blitz SBC-ID boost controler (fancy looking new one. 4 channels) - twin HKS Pod filters with adaptors Reason for sale: uncompliant wife! starting an rb20det without a cooler
bbenny replied to r31rb20's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah but throttle response is awesome besides the little stardard cooler probably doesnt do much haha nah kidding, dont go crazy without a cooler -
ive seen that, where an external gate is welded onto the exaust housing. my only question would be - does it seriously effect the exaust flow? it makes alot of sense for the flow to follow that snail shape and push the turbine around, but would changing the direction anywhere in that housing reduce flow properties? just a question out of curiosity

well i have both an aftermarket FMIC and an SAFCII and i have to say the SAFC gave the biggest noticable gains... my car wasnt running too bad, but i gained alot of midrange by tuning the SAFC. But i would have to say that a front mount will allow for further modification. you can wind the boost up knowing its a bit safer for your engine. get all your bolt on mechanical work done before fine tuning electronics. besides if you change anything again you will have to retune the SAFC again... more $$

As subject says R32 GTR Bonnet, grill, N1 inserts and lower lip. PM me if you have anything. thanks Ben.

The cops took about 5-10min to get there, in the mean time i was making sure the old guy i hit was ok. just talking to him to see if he was ok. he was fine but a little shook-up. he was pretty old. Well its been a week now and still no word on who is being charged with what... i want them to get a move on and decide i am in the clear and can make an insurance claim! i want my baby back and in working order! i might give the station a call tomorrow or something and see if they have made any progress... oh and another question, if they decide the other guy is at fault. will his insurance cover my front mount cooler even if it wasnt listed on my insurance? Thanks for all the info and support guys! Ben

Well..... yesterday i went down to the LAC and handed a concise document on all the events of the accident and the following day to the constable i delt with on the night. i stated at the top of the letter that i want to add all of it to my statement. i also took an exact copy of the report and asked the constable to print his name, sign and date it as a receipt to confirm he recieved it. i think it took him back a little, but he was very helpful that morning. i got all the info of the other driver and as i was leaving the station he mentioned that the witness who reported me driving withou headlights, is now "uncertain whether or not they were on" and the issue wont be investigated.... but the speeding is still an issue. i explained that the document adding to my statement addressed the issue. today i spoke to the smash repair guy, who seemed really cool. its not a write off - thankgod i dont want market value (like $10k or something) he reckons it just looks alot worse than it really is. i also asked him how fast he thought the car would have been traveling at the time of impact. he said 40-50km/h max. and said if there is any uncertainty of speed to get the constable to call him. so now its just a matter of waiting to see what happens. ps. to answer the questions - no one was hurt, and im pretty sure the old camry driver admitted he was doing a u-turn (well he said it on the night of the accident to the ambo officers that got there before the police.
-
yeah thanks for all the info guys. zroyz as u mentioned i have already made a comprehensive list of events that night and the following morning. tomorrow i am speaking to my next door neighbour about the whole issue. she is a lawyer. the only mistake i made was not being 100% sure about my speed. i think this will serious disadvantage me. i dont even know why i said it. i was in shock as i was questioned immediately after the accident. i have attempted twice to contact the officer and the police station to add these issues to the statement, but as the officer of the night is the only one with a report in his notepad, they wont allow me to add anything! so i have put together all the details i can and will be giving the letter to the station tomorow after my neighbour checks what i have written and given me additional advice. i have to admit that the police have acted very unprofessionally here. the fact they dont have a detailed report on the stations database is of great concern. ill keep you posted. heres a scarey story for you that im going through right now! last night i was peacefully driving home from work, exciting because i was going to the J5 concert! as im driving along an elderly man in white camry parked on the left hand side decided to pull out to U-turn about 5 metres in front of me. i locked the brakes and smashed into him. my car is stuffed, his is defentantly a write-off. well now comes the fun part, the cops come along and immediately assumed it was my fault, seeing a lowered skyline, with big exaust, intercooler and rims. i spoke to several officers and with each one, it took me several explanations before they understood it was me who was casually driving alond as someone pulled out infront of me. during questioning me they asked how fast i was going, i explained the last time i checked my speedo was on the main road (which i turned off into the small street where the accident occured) and i was traveling about 60-70km/h (the main road was 70km/h zone) anyway later in the night the officer calls me to give me my accident ID number. he also informs me i will be getting a speeding fine for driving 70km/h in a 50 zone and that there is a whitness that beleives i had no headlights on! (absolute crap!) anyway today i went to the LAC to get the other drivers info for insurance purposes... as it turns out there is some confusion in the report on the database... they were unsure who hit who and the officer in charge forgot to enter ANY of the other driver's details! so im really freaking out here, they came to the scene with the mindset some under 25 hoon driving a skyline caused an accident, and so far the only info they have is that i was speeding in a 50km/h zone without any lights on! thankfully today when explaining what happened to a work colleague, he positivly remembered me leaving work with my headlights on and is prepared to make a statement as a witness. but this is scaring the crap out of me. everything so far has been twisted or manipulated to put me at fault. hope this doesnt happen to anyone else! and when they want to question you after an accident, get them to write the questions down and tell them you will fill the answers when you are at home and over the shock of an accident. Ben.
