  1. yeah well i think i may go ahead and do it, if it doesnt work ill try sell the thing. but your suggestion does sound like it will work
  2. Brody: its running about 10 - 12psi there it creeps a little so i didnt get to see exactly how high, but its fairly low. i plan on running 1.2bar (18psi) Steve: i think i am going to have to run a boost cut defender as this whole project has made me poor. my only concern is that it may affect how the SAFC functions...
  3. yeah good call. i dont want to buy one then find out i cant use the two together. is it possible to retain my ecu settings and get someone just to remove the max setting? or for that price would it be more economical to just get the whole thing remapped on the dyno?
  4. my friend has a Blitz SBC - ID II in his 32GTR and the thing is awesome, allows alot of boost control, very reliable and like col-gtsx said super easy to set up. it has 4 channels 1 being lowest and 4 being highest, set them at what ever you want or have a co driver wind the boost up in the middle of a street drag (my job )
  5. if im on a limited budget and do have to use a boost cut will that intercept of airflow affect the way in which the SAFC works? ir does it just cancel a "max-out" signal?
  6. yeah but its so depressing seeing it go up and then suddenly stop! haha i want it to keep going up and not cut out. do you know much about boost cut defenders? are they dodgy or do they work ok?
  7. Ive heard really good things about my turbo on an RB20 but alot of the guys with RB25's dont seem to get as excited, i think its because the engine has that extra 500cc to make more boost. the guy i bought mine from said he wasnt impressed with it on his R33 and was going bigger. I reckon it rocks, and im sure it would on your car too, but being 2.5L you can go even bigger lucky bugger
  8. yeah ill give it a shot and see what happens thanks
  9. Damn! i knew it sounded too easy... thought i had a cheap way out. ive already got the SAFC but that wont prevent the boost cut.
  10. Yeah they are actually cheaper. they have the Reg with the skyline adaptor (usually $30 or something) with fittings for $330 total i was pretty stolked with the price as most other retailers were selling for $340 without adaptor or fittings
  11. yeah there is only one signal for the SAFC but there are two pins on the ECU which can be spliced to get a knock reading, i might try the other pin tonight and see what happens.
  12. Ok well as you remember before fuel was leaning out very dangerously. Ive fixed the problem by fitting new pump and regulator. Took it to the dyno today to see if it still had the cut... and it did but thanks to better fueling ive actually gained power and A/F ratios are much safer. (see pic) All i need to do now is either get my ECU tuned or fit a boost cut defender and/or tune the SAFCII. After talking to the guys at Envy after my run they were talking about fitting a 300zx (Z32 i think) airflow meter and that should fix my problem. Has anyone done this? does it work without having to fiddle the standard 32 ECU?? Dyno results with new pump and reg. - note: it still cuts out
  13. ive read that before and it doesnt really sort out the problem
  14. i got my Sard Reg from Envy imports. they had them in stock with all adaptor plates and fittings for standard 8mm hose or threaded fittings for braided line. very helpful and had what i needed in stock. they even ordered the pump i wanted and i received it that very day. i hate having to wait
  15. yeah they are very cheap. I just got the sexy sard regulator. probably a bit wanky, but it has anodized blue fittings and machined look. i got it very cheap tho with the skyline adaptor plate. so it fits straight in too. Im just wondering whether the car cut out due to an airflow cut or because it sensed the pump couldnt cope... anyone know if skylines do have fuel cuts? because i was running higher boost with the std turbo.
  16. well im not too sure to be honest, i asked for an 044 but the guy getting it reckons thats over kill he rattled the name of it but i cant remember. something like 58... i dunno its about $300 (and thats with some sort of discount) it supports alot more power than i need and fits in-tank easily. Have you put yours on the dyno yet?
  17. damn all you SA boys have a few places to choose from. who is good in sydney? as im just about ready to have the thing tuned now!
  18. remap really depends, ive heard around $750 is about the usuall going rate. If u are going to go more than 230rwkw you will have to change injectors i think, i would even consider possibly a bigger turbo than a 2530 - to make it a little easier, but remember the 2530 is very responsive anything bigger and your power range will be alot higher in the rev range.
  19. I would get yours remapped. every car is different. I dont think getting someone elses tuned computer would be good as each car has its own individual characteristics. as for the parts: new pump around $300 - $400 regulator $200 - $300. as for injectors i havent really looked around but i think 2nd hand im guessing around $400 for the 6... not too sure im going to try with stock injectors.
  20. Yeah the 2530 doesnt usually make over 250rwkw, but remember it has a pretty fat mid range - so its a wicked setup for the street. extremely quick! Im picking up the bosch pump and sard reg tonight so hopefully ill stick it in tomorrow and throw it back on the dyno to see what happens. then get the ECU tunned. Roy: yeah ive heard pretty much what you are telling me about SAS - they know their stuff but charge twice as much as most. I was quoted around $1300 from them a while ago and decided against that and to buy a new turbo instead to make the power. But looks like i have no choice now anyone know reasonable tuning shops in sydney? someone that knows skylines maybe...
  21. RB20 turbo for sale, has done less than 90,000kms extremely good condition. even looks like new! $400.00
  22. Brand New SAFCII for sale: Bought it as part of project looks like i need fully programable management instead. in the car for about 2hrs for a dyno run, still have box, manual (translated wiring instructions) $580
  23. i have a brand new one, just installed it with turbo upgrade, has about 2hrs usage. just realised i need fully programable ECU now... not happy about that. anyway still have box all manuals wiring diagrams etc (got the wiring diagram translated by japanese mate too) very easy to install. $580
