Do Late Series Ii R33's Have Neo?
dmonic1 replied to HotPlates's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
NEO is the greek word for NEW. god only knows why the japanese are using it though. -
yeah yeah i know here we go again but i have read so many posts about people trying to find out an ecu that will support some kind of ignition cut, retard during gear changes but nobody as far as i have read nobody has toyed with the idea of the manual flat shift software available in some upmarket ecu's. im expecting to get shot down for bringing this up but i new it was available and just wanted to get u guysto look into the possibility also.

i have been doing alot of looking around on the forum about us auto guys looking for an aftermaket ecu instead of piggy back option. as everybody has found out nissan had software installed controlling ignition retard on upshifts to save the transmission from WOT and heavy torque gear changes. there are a few ecu's out there (http://www.motec.com/products/ecu/control.htm#M600) that provide ignition cut on upshifts but require a clutch pedal to activate a micro switch to signal the ecu to cut the ignition (also know as a flat shift module) from reading a few of the posts on here it seems like a few of u boys are alot more elctronicly minded than i am and should be able to find the trigger wire form the standard AUTO ecu that triggers the standard ENGINE ecu to do it's retard thingy and use this instead of a clutch opperated microswitch. now i know it wont be as perfect as the standard software due to the fact that nissan have it 3D mapped but if ur box is already shift kitted then u already have changed the shift characteristics anyway and a very quick and exactly timed ignition cut would probably at low speed make the gear changes feel a lot less jerky. it's just an idea so dont shot me if u all think it's bl*&^y ridiculous but i had a manual car with a flat shift module that was blowing boxes all the time until it was installed. if ur thinking of the power loss of that half a second with no ignition then just think about the power gain and tunning abbility of having a complete programable ecu on board. sorry for the long post but i needed to stop thinking about it and ask u guys what u all thought Dave

yeah my S2 did this last week. everything was running fine and all fluids were at correct levels. took it to the importer and they hooked it up to a diagnostic machine and it turned out to be the o2 sensor giving a faulty signal. he cleared the code and it hasnt come back since. gotta love it when its something simple.

hi guys a mate of mine just put me onto this site and wow!!!!!! it's like ebay but for japan and the best thing is it's interpreted. u have to sign up first to look through the list of stuff for sale but it only takes a few seconds. brake pads, fibre glass panels, lights and whatever. I even found an aftermarket bolt on gtr front end kit. i haven't ever brought anything from here so i dont know how it works but im sure u guys will love to have a look at it. http://www.importmonster.com.au/ i typed in wgc34 and had about 27 pages to look through.

yeah its the dayz kit. i pm'd sk about some suspension but havent heard back yet. i have a RWD so i havent got an attessa system to worry about but yes the tyre widths are the same front and back i reckon a gtr bake upgrade might be on the cards to fill the rims up a bit also and to stop terrible braking perfomance of my car. went on a bit of hills drive last night with a loaded car (5 people) but with the stocky wheels and wasnt terribly impressed. i definatly wasnt being given any ammount of reasurence from the suspension or the brakes. im a bit of a pussy driver now after my accident and any hint of body roll freakes me out.

here are a few pics of the rims i just put on today. they came off my mates r32 that is defected at the moment. im thinking about buying them but i think im going to have to lower my car to fully appreciate them. they are 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear.

well to be honest i think i was just a little bit pissed to start out with but after thinking about it i dont really have a huge reason as to why i would prefer a AWD over a RWD. if i was going to race it or something then yeah. its has a vin of WGC......... so yeah its definatly only a RWD. it just really took me by suprise and about the back end stepping out so far and it nearly caused an accident but i am not new to fast RWD cars and like someone said they are really easy to correct and get back straight. i am a proud owner of an 25t RS V. i will check this weekend if it has an lsd but other than that my car is really stock but with alot of options like TCS an itegrated touch screen tv climate control system and the 6 speaker system etc. i rang the importer and he was really shocked as he new i was tossing up over a legacy or stagea but he said that he just assumed i new what i wanted so he has said he would service my car or free for 24 months. thanks guys for your help. ps the cat back exhaust that ordered last week will that still fit even though i ordered it thinking it was an AWD? also i was looking at the nengun site and would really like to invest in a set of coil-overs can someone sugest a place here in oz to get a good suspension package. if im going to have a back end that steps out i dont want the body roll making it harder to control.

well i have had my car for about 2 weeks now and everyting is going good except the fuel economy. when i brought my car i was believing that i was buying an RS4 V. seeing as i have only had the car a while i have been driving pretty nicely. well did i get the shock of a life time today when i was so pissed off with traffic that i just pulled into a small gap (im getting used to the extra power) planted my foot and holly shit the back end stepped out so far that i was looking out the passenger window to see where i should be going. i was thinking ok the front wheels should be getting some power down and this shouldnt be happening. so when i got home i looked under the front end and what do i see, nothing, absoloutly sweet f/a. no drive shafts or even a spot for them to go in through the front discs. what the hell sort of car am i driving i was under the impression that there was no such thing as an RS V as i have every factory option under the sun except for a sun roof. i payed $20,000 for this car that has only 60,000km so i want u guys to tell me "did i get stuffed around or what" or do i still have a good car. i really wanted an AWD which is why i nearly brought a WRX i know the guy who owns the import yard but i want to get u guys opinion before i blow my lid at him first. sorry about the essay guys, cheers. ps if u look for a topic titled hi guys u will see pics of my car but i dont that will help much.

also if anyone is looking at the front of my car and wondering why is doesnt look right i have no idea where the front grill came from either. the importer told me he has never scene another one like it. if any of u guys know it would be nice to find out. im just assuming its from another model or something.

attachment=132018:normal_DSC02685a.jpg] im ordering my exhaust through car toys in adelaide. its normally about $850 or so but i have spent so much money in that place they give me stuff at just over cost now. i just have to wait for it to come from japan as they dont keep them in stock. on a r34 skyline the power xtreme II sounds very quit down low and under "normal" driving conditions but has a very nice growl when u stomp the peddle and best of all it doesnt bark and attract unwanted cop attention.

well first mods done, trust airinx pod filter so now my car finally sounds like there is a turbo under the bonnet and a greddy bov that i had on my telstar but i left it as a plumb back. i got a price on a cat back system, how does $760 for a greddy power extreme sound for a stagea specific exhaust. im just going to get a split type dump pipe and high flow cat of ebay. from what im reading the gtst r33 dump pipe will be the one to order.

hey grim r32 i reckon i spoke to u at last years small car sunday cause i was asking about the stagea's auto boxi know i pretty much drooled all over ur car, lol. im in the north east side of adelaide in clearview. im pretty good with spinning tools around a car but i think im in over my head before i even start with these cars. from what im reading the stagea's seem like they were made at nissan from the spare parts bin and it all seems a bit hit and miss at to what fits and what doesn't.
-
hey pixel8r, i reckon we either work or live in similar areas cause i have scene a really nice white stagea drive in the opposite direction to me a few times on Grand junction road. im actually in clearview and work in athol park and regency park. omg this forum is killing my sleeping habits. i am staying up for stupid hours throughout the nights trying to decipher all the information on here. trying to understand what is relevant for a series 1 or 2 seems to be half the problem with all the posts im reading i am very aware about the need of an aftermarket comp or piggy back for tunning as i have a very modified TX5 Turbo sitting in the garage with a haltech in it (defected now cause of a stupid woman cop)

well it has been while driving like a grandpa and i only got about 450kms from an entire tank on the open road. So ok then off to a dyno place to have the heart beat checked. i have used mildrens and rpm for a previous car but i have no idea who the best "skyline guru's" might be in adleaide. i know how important it is to have the person looking at ur car actually intersted in what they are doing. also what is the best way to post a few pics. im pretty proud of my new ride.

hello everyone, well i have been visiting this forum for about 12 months and finally went out and brought my stagea last week. i am now the proud owner of a 98 series II RS4 V. it is as stock as they come but i have the touch screen tv dvd combo. i brought it from an importer in adelaide and it has only just done 60,000km and is in mint condition. just getting used to the very poor fuel economy i think about 17L/100km. this forum got the stagea over the line as i was originally looking at a legacy so keep all the usefull information coming. will keep everyone updated as the mods start appearing. cheers all, Dave
