thanks for the info. makes a bit more sense now. im in japan. there between 300 and 600 depending where you buy it and how much risk you take on it being good or bad. to have a box changed at a shop here is 200-300 plus oil. if i was at home in aus id do it myself where here i cant which is a bugger.

1300 is a reconditioned box a second hand bax goes from about 300 to 600 here. if shockproof is that good i might give it a go. althought i have heard some stories that some times it makes it worse.

the box in my car is an r33 turbo box but from one to two its got a nice notch to it and if i dont be really careful itll crunch. the rest of the gears are perfect in the way they feel. is it possible to just rebuild/replace the old syncro's in that gear? im not in a place thats easy to ask. they keep telling me they just send the box away and get another back. but thats 1300ish and id prefer not to spend that in my current situation.... is it possible to just do the gear that needs doing? thanks

i think its pretty much an impossible task. you have to live here and be around it and hear it and use it and see it everyday to speak fluently.

im not quite sure what the databus thing is but im pretty certain its not. its the same as s/r chassis. i havent had any worries with mine they can only come in as standard cars cant they??

hi i dont have my car near me and i need to know the size of the water line from the back of the plenum to the turbo. is it 8mm or 10mm or different? what have people done for turbo water lines for rb25's? flameproof speedflow hose or braid? thanks adam

thanks found it does anyone know what the wires are coming out of it? someones played with mine so...... the top has a ground, acc and power and the bottom wires are blue and yellow. havent had time to trace them yet. theres about 6ish of them give or take. do they go to the other door motors or something like that?

when i bought my car it only came with normal keys. so obviously someone had lost the original keyless entry key and remote. so i have bought a hole new set of locks with key and remote etc. i plugged the new ignition barrel in today to test if itd work before i cracked the bolts. it didnt work, so its got me wondering, where is the receiver for the key? is it not in the ignition barrel? i replaced the battery in the remote too and nothing. i could start the car with the new barrel no worries if i can find where the receiver is and make sure it hasnt been taken out or anything, can i take this remote i now have into nissan and get it reprogrammed? i would prefer to use the nissan gear rather than putting an aftermarket remote on it. thanks adam for reference the cars a 99 model laurel.

the best i can do is $1250 delivered by sea(40ish days) with brand new tyres, $1050 delivered by sea with no tyres or 1165 delivered with no tyres via EMS/courier(5-10day delivery). i have the wheels still here in japan with me. if your worried, ill take the delivery cost as a deposit and send them to my brother in toowoomba and you can pick them up in toowomba in person from my brother.

twin turbo 1jz or vvti 1jz? what gearbox?r154 or w58? power wise, the 1j has it anyday on a pretty well standard engine. they should really only take the same amount of time unless he doesnt have all the parts there. either way just be a little bit wary of them i bought a few things off them a while ago and it took them a long time to get me things id payed for. ie. 1 year later i received the last parts and at the time i had bought 2 rb25's and a shell from them so i was probably their best customer.

i have a feeling there still a long way off and even if they do get approval there all going to be non turbo autos. the turbo auto's are rare as hens teeth and they all have neo engines. fair enough you can convert it when it gets to aust tho they are a big car but the other car i drive here is an elgrand, so its small compared to that ill be back to qld will send you a pm
