BMW has not made a 5 series since the E39 as high quality as this. I notice you've got the upgraded multifunction steering wheel as well. People will be interested in whether or not the service history is up to date including Inspection 1 or 2 etc. Sometimes the electonic display depixelates too - but that's common and can be rectified. Yes the 540i is a great mover

I'll be with you Jeff & thanks! You'll get my joke later on

Whilst mate is following your car at night, the blue smoke is constant if it's a rings problem. If there's more smoke coming out under boost, then turbo seals are suss as well; not forgetting valve seals. Comp test says what? Oil useage going up?

Anyone Know Anyone That Does Rust Proofing?
GTR-N1 replied to GTRAAH's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Perhaps all you need is the water soluble "Rust Conversion" paint obtainable from Automotive Paint Shops etc. -
To check on if the car is still blowing blue smoke whilst driving and extra on boost, drive at night with a mate following behind.

Quite innovative:) Any pics?

My Moment of Madness:- I took a mental hit on Monday. I even questioned my own sanity. I set off as usual from the Lower Blue Mtns to my Earlwood clinic, firstly negotiating some speed humps to get onto the highway > To make the trip more enjoyable in my Forester, I started playing a CD - The Bee Gees to be exact > Everything went smoothly after getting off the M4 until in the middle of one song, I heard a voice > It only lasted a moment and I thought nothing of it. It certainly wasn't distinct. > Then towards the end of the same Bee Gees song, there it was again! > The voice was muffled and I tried to make sense of how the Bee Gees would allow this voice onto their recording! > Anyway, I knew the song was about to end and thought, "It'll be over soon - but funny, I'd never heard that dubbed voice before" > Halfway into the next song and going my own convoluted short-cut way to Earlwood, I hear this voice again! > Sh!t - WTF is that? > I bang a couple of speakers and the voice goes away - but just to be sure, I shut the whole unit down > After I turned the next corner, there it was again > now I'm really going mad (-meaning, insane)! ...and I'm thinking, "This is what a couple of my clients are talking about when they're telling me about their hallucinations!" > Uh-oh, that's the farkin Tom Tom deep down in the bowels of the centre console Somehow, it turned itself on (like it did a couple of years ago) spontaneously after going over a bump ie. speed hump. > Sanity washes over me; even better than a cold shower! + the realisation that I felt thoroughly stupid!

I Stupidly Bought Repairable Write Off Unknowingly
GTR-N1 replied to blaylock's topic in General Automotive Discussion
REVS is being replaced by DEVA. > Going National Umm, just wondering if you guys want me to do a thread on this? -
Dear oh dear... That sounds like the group of Slavs that came along and quit smoking last year. I asked a couple of men, "Just like us Asians that prolifically smoke, why do so many Slavs smoke?" They all said, "You're not a man unless you smoke!" So the corollary for the Korean man is, "You're not a man unless you tan!" ??

You mean between your legs? Not recommended The correct "CCA" rating is important eh?
-
Actually, as we meet up at Penriff Stn Pat, you can sit next to Luke; and his missus can sit next to yours truly
-
Do you think that the whole concept of desiring a tan is a cultural-fashion thing? Isn't it the exact opposite in places like Japan where fair skin is the desired norm? Sorry about going onto a tangent > but just analysing motive....

^ ^ ^ That's exactly the point. Instead of letting others who stereotypically point the finger at us and say, "You won't be able to get parts for it!" or "You just want bang for your buck!": perhaps they should put themselves in our boots for 5 minutes and think like this... My mother bought a brand new Mazda 2 Genki 8 weeks ago for $25K (including a few extras). Sure she's elderly, but we here on SAU will think, "Geez, for $25K, I could buy a........!!!!!!!" Think of yourselves as being... * prudent and astute * appreciative of good motoring (echoing ^ ^ ^) * more learned about the value of the dollar * keen to get the most out of your car & modify it * eager to match the car's potential with your perceived driving skills * able to optimise your driving skills through courses and on the track * able to enjoy the experience of driving rather than just get from A to B C'mon! Show me your 'Brains Trust' that you want to THANK ! PS Thanks for your kind words above! PPS Oh yes, "scarf" you've mentioned my kids. Umm Mark used to own a VL Brock Group A SS Build#.... & Matt currently owns a V-Spec II Nur. > Must be contagious hehe... Wifie? Well that's another story LOL

This thread is dedicated to you people as much as your cars! Rationale:- When you read a feature in a Motor Mag or see a Carsales.com.au Advert, you'll read all about the car and its features. Only at the end, is there any mention about the people credited to have developed how that car drives, or how it looks. This thread inverts that! This thread is about people, as much as the car. Your Post:- With Pics, list off who you would dedicate as being instrumental in making your car the weapon or the showpiece it is to-day! They will of course include people within SAU Club as well as many outside. And when you are finished, be proud of what your team has achieved - and if you're not a Member of SAU already, join up straight away, because outsiders obviously envy what you've achieved. Keep your Club strong!!! My 3rd (Current) R34 GT-R:- This is not a brag session about my car - it's about the T-H-A-N-K-S I owe to great people who have become my team & my car family. Thanks go to... * Kristian Appelt (SAU - Iron Chef) who sourced this lovely car from Japan, even though I didn't know about it being F/S * Todd O'Donnell (JapLink Motors and SAU Clubhouse landlord) who would offer me this car if circumstances didn't allow him to keep it himself * Eugene Chan (SAU - JDM Performance) who detailed this car for over 13 hours ie. 2 days and was responsible for my 1st R34 GT-R to win a Best Concours * Peter (Bodyformaero) Nismo Z-Tune Front Bar * Nick Nikolas (SAU - ???) Nismo Titanium Strut Brace + Nismo Air Intake + Nismo Wheel Nuts + Nismo Fuel Pump * Yavuz (Unigroup Engineering) who'll be doing the tune like he did with my previous V-Spec II + ID Injectors * Steve-0 (SAU - N1GTR) who has coached me to source Tomei Cams/Gears/Injectors/Fuel Pump + G-Max Nismo Clutch * Jason Gower (Nepean Valley Smash Repairs) who painted and fitted the bodykit/bar and was responsible for my 1st R34 GT-R to win a Best Concours * Sean (SAU - GTRsean) Nismo Stickers * Darron Corrigan (Just Jap) Nismo Radiator Cap & Oil Cap + Cams, Cam Gears * David (SAU - Aggroman) Nismo Kill-switch * Daniel Gardener (Stage Co Blacktown) High-tech Security System * Steve (SAU - RANDY) who determined on VINS Fasted how early my type of car was manufactured compared to others of its genre * Jonno (SAU - Jonno34) Nismo S-Tune Suspension * Daniel Smith (SAU - sinistaGTR) Nismo S-Tune Valve Caps * Marcus (SAU - elrodeo666) Nismo Oil Separator Kit This is your way to let us know who your team and car family is..... I'm interested

Insurance Company Doesent Want To Pay
GTR-N1 replied to GD51LA's topic in General Automotive Discussion
There is a governing body that oversees the way insurance companies behave > Financial Ombudsman Service Ltd GPO Box 3 Melbourne VIC 3001. ...and Local call from anywhere in Aust 1300.780.808 Insurance companies must abide by the body's decision to resolve a dispute. -
Hi Again Luke, I opted for an exact match with the Omori Nismo Black which I like. But the Omori rim is limited to 9.5" wide, and the above is 10.5" Why not gloss? Besides the above reason, I've seen enough gloss black rims before to put me off. I know it's subjective, but the main objective reason I profess to is that gloss black shows the slightest bit of dust/dirt/grime. Satin is much more forgiving after a day out. Thanks for your comments!

Sorry Ryan, but this is about the best I can do atm... They came out from Japan on the Bayside Blue one behind > went across to the Pearl Black one here > The black car was sold and I kept the wheels.

If one wants the best, one has to pay for the best: the best in turn, produce the best. I've been very happy with Unigroup Eng (Yavuz) & I'm booked in with them again with my 'new' car. But in no way do I regard DVS Tuning (Jeremy) or Pulse Racing (Paul) as second best either. And if I had a HKS F-Con V-Pro ECU, I would even have Tune House or Dart Eng on my short list. It is by omission that my learned friends above have not mentioned who are 2nd, 3rd or even 10th best.
