Lads Lads Lads....Look in your Yellow pages under "Powder Coating Services" this will open a whole new world for you Panel shops don't do it as it is a big enough business as it is....you know all those pool fences and stuff? Thats powder coating. Its really much cheaper than paint. Just remember that there will always be a small area that is marked from where they use wire to hold it up during the process. Also powder coating is only for metal. There are some new iridescent colours available and some shops also do a alloy flake spray that can be polished to look just like alloy. Just pull all the metal bits off your car, take to shop tell them what colours and a couple of days later they are ready. They sand blast all the parts before coating so don't worry if they are covered in oil and dirt.

Yeh it all sounds about right.....My addition is to DRAG the chamois i.e. lay it out flat on the body and pul it from one end, this works the best and removes the most water. The type of wash is also important. Only use good quality wash like Maguires Gold car wash as mentioned earlier as this stuff is the best. Also once you have finished washing the car and you are rinsing off the foam don't use a spray instead, remove the fitting from the end of the hose and use the trickle from the hose to wash the suds away, if the surface is good and you have been washing with Maquires for a while most of the water will "Sheet" off and there will not be much left to chamois off.

I don't paint stuff anymore, powder coating is the go. I had mine done in mat black and they look great. Only cost about $20 and if you get other stuff done at the same time it is ususlly cheaper like radiator and battery mounts and cam covers etc. Its way cheaper than good paint and lasts longer as well.

Best intercoolers in Australia

HAHAHAHA...I live in Toowoomba:rolleyes: Yeh its was best you didn't make the drive up as there are some very fast imports and we race anything that looks even half tuff up here. Only problem is that the cops are shocking and tollerate nothing....Mostly due to the driving style of me and my friends (two of my friends got caught having a friendly race one night doing 180km/h+, the cops hate that stuff and this is why I now own a 4x4 MU ) There are actually more imports per head of population than anywhere else in QLD. Must agree with Ipswich though

OOps sorry yeh GTR injectors and a big Bosch 910 fuel pump The cam gears increased the bottom end and the top end by about 10rwkw each but the middle of the power band is about the same.

Since my web site is no longer on the www I thought I'd share some interesting and exciting news about rb20det tuning. My mates S13 with RB20DET has just recorded 257rwkw on a DDDyno. This is the same dyno that we have always used and the tuner is the same only thing is that this time is was really hot and the final run was done after a full days tune. Main (Important Mods) RB20DET (totally stock internals) T3/T4 hybrid turbo ARE front mount Microtech MT12 HKS cam gears Pump fuel 18psi 4" dump and 3.5" system Oil catch can HKS filter GTR injectors Bosch 910 fuel pump OS twin plate So there is plenty of power available from the ol RB20 so long as you get 1 thing right......Find a good tuner that actually knows what he/she is doing and is more than happy to talk to you, tell you whats happening, lets you spend the day with him to learn whats going on and even lend a hand.

AMAZING....No conflicting opinions, and I too agree. Most of our cars will not still be making HP at 200km/h. Mine didn't and it put out 217rwkw at its most tuned stage. My mate has a rb20det in his silvia and he makes over 250rwkw and his max power is still below 200 so this shouldn't be a issue. Make sure it is done in 4th though, once you start to make around the 200rwkw mark you may actually find that you get a higher figure in 4th than 2nd/3rd anyway due to less stress on the motor.

Here is another option

Not bad mate. May I offer you some constructive critisim....Your radiator pipe will last about a month or two then you will suffer a nasty eruption of hot water and coolent. The engine moves a lot more than you may realise and this will rub on the hose. Because the hose you have chosen has wire running through it this will make the effect worse. Unfortunately there probably isn't much you can do other than using some straight metal pipe and some tight 90 degree rubber bends to mate it up. I could be wrong but the same thing happened to my install and the hose wasn't actually touching when it just sat there but once the engine moved it starts to rub. All I can say is keep an eye on it OFTEN.. The other thing is did you run some weld around the ends of all the pipes you made to stop boost presure from blowing them off ? Finally, try getting your pipes powder coated, that lot should only cost about $40 and it is a much tuffer finish than paint. Great effort and good on you for having a shot at it yourself, this is what modifing cars is all about.

Heres another angle (inside) Its just a big bit of 4" stainless 45 degree bend

GONE GONE GONE My 32 finally SOLD
BOOSTMEISTER replied to BOOSTMEISTER's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I doubt if I will be spending too much on the MU, probably just a small sus/body lift (4") and maybe some big rock crawler tyres and maybe a new exhaust system and perhaps a water to air intercooler or perhaps a unichip and a big stezza along with some black rims, tint a 9000lb whinch but apart from that I doubt I'll do anything else:D Seriously though, what I will be doing is saving for any mods instead of getting loans etc. Here is a pic of my new ride which I'll get on the 6th -
GONE GONE GONE My 32 finally SOLD
BOOSTMEISTER replied to BOOSTMEISTER's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I just decided that I wasn't able to do the things I wanted to do while I drove the 32. I am into rock climbing, abseiling and camping etc so having the 32 limited me to sealed roads which meant that I haven't been able to do those things. I also want to get into some serious 4wding and from what I have seen you don't need a v8 powered rig to do it in. I have always liked the MU's so it was an easy decission to make, they have all the electric options etc and are fairly comfy to ride in. Power is a bit less than my 32 with only 80kw at the engine.......dam. But with some boost, exhaust and filter we should be able to sort out some more usable power. Basically there comes a time in ones life (For me it was my 25th birthday) when you realise that there are more things to life than spending every cent on your car. When an interest becomes an obsession then you need to seriously look at sorting yourself out. I absolutely loved my car and will always like it and will often look at all the photo's of it but I had to make a choice, I didn't have the money for both so it had to go. For the last 2 years I haven't had any money to spend on anything apart from my car so its time to start living a bit, going on holidays and looking for a relationship with someone other than my car Cam -

Ha Ha & He He as well....I have learned my lesson. :uh-huh: I don't care if M**io considers this comment to be sincere but I would like to offer my congrats to the all the guys who put in the hard work to get the car on the track again. This is a great start to what we all hope will be a positive trend in Australian drag racing. I look forward to seeing faster times as I am sure that with its new airshift box it will be capable of 7's not to mention that next time out the driver will have already driven it. Cam

Where to get a custom FMIC in G/C or Bris?
BOOSTMEISTER replied to a topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yes...ARE are the best in Queensland and probably the best in all of OZ. I have bought 6 or so coolers from them including mine and am 110% happy with their work. They most certainly do the most R&D of anyone I have heard of and rather than using others designs and saying they are theirs they ACTUALLY come up with the ideas that others use. Can't recommend them enough Cam -
Camping, Climbing, Outdoor gear 4SALE
BOOSTMEISTER replied to BOOSTMEISTER's topic in For Sale (Other Items)
I'd buy the Camelbak for that price. The ones we have in that size would be by Platapus but I don't like their bladder material, it is too hard and brittle. They aren't too mad but for around the $170 mark I believe the Camelbaks to be better. Cam -

BOOSTMEISTER replied to BOOSTMEISTER's topic in For Sale (Other Items)
Not the actual brand but I do sell personal hydration systems. They range from about $90rrp up to around the $400rrp for a fullon back pack with inbuild system. I sell SOURCE packs as they are just as good as the Camelbaks but a bit cheaper. Cam -
Adjustable cam gears.
BOOSTMEISTER replied to JimX's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Brody I have had heaps of interest but it seems that people prefer to pay 17k for a car and then mod it ???? Perhaps these people don't realise how much it REALLY costs to mod a car. I have one guy that seems super keen but is unable to get up to see my car so I hope he sorts himself out soon so I can sell it. Cam -
Adjustable cam gears.
BOOSTMEISTER replied to JimX's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I use HKS cam gears and my rb20det puts out 210rwkw and my friends rb20det s13 silvia also has them and his car makes 250rwkw. Neither of us have had any problems with them breaking or changing the settings. They need to be set up on a dyno. We spend nearly 8 hours on the dyno to get them just right. Cam -
I am now working in a Outdoor adventure store so if any one wants some gear, tents, clothes, air bed, climbing gear....you name it then let me know and I will give you a price and a special discount. All gear is NEW and payment is to be via Credit Card over the phone during business hours. Cam
