Hey guys, just lowered my r33 gtr on coilovers, not too much just a good height, and my camber seems excessive now, this is from me looking at them....maybe ~2negative all round?....i havent done my wheel alignment yet, but i dont think itll help much. Whats my best option at this stagE?, i can get whiteline stuff locally and cheap aswell.... also whats a good camber setting for the gtrs?
  2. Phew - Thanks mate, thought i just done something wrong to my new coilovers, basically to make it even more simple: I twisted the coilover spring to line up the bottom eye to the thread. No pallets were touched.
  3. I was quoted for the car to be dropped off this weekend, and work will take 2 days. He said if he hasnt done it within that time, then he'll drop the price $500, thats how confident he is, unless the new motor dont start...But he knows it will. Insane as in good or bad price?
  4. Car is r32 gtr, how hard is it to fit a new spoiler(remove old one), and fit new rear pods onto it....??? I really want to do this asap. Can i use double sided tape to fix the rear pods???
  5. Thanks mate - yeah i had a long thought about it, and it seems i'd have to spend roughly that amount to get it reliable and safe and the way i want. Any good deals i should know about for any of the above mentioned parts?.....my main concern is what to do with the new head ill be buying, should i give it a full recon or not?

Thanks simon, i wish i was in AUS< as there are so many reputeable workshops over there, im in NZ, and theres a really good rb workshop local, who ive gone to in the past as they know the rb engine so well, all other garages generally point me to them as well as they do have the know how on the cars.... How much for a full head recon anyhow???, and is an n1 block a bit too overkill for my power goal in mind?, how much should i expect to pay for an rb26dett head and block? Thanks, ill purchase some eagle rods for the car aswell, i hear ou can get 2 types, like h beams or something?....whats the difference? Also, im buying all the gear myself, and then handing it over to the workshop to put together, much cheaper this way for me. What am i looking at spending for a full head recondition, and ca oyu mod the stock sump, or could i buy a new one?.....i hear bigger sump means a bigger restrictor in the head gallery aswell?

Hey, yeah its like it just needs that slight KICK to get going, its hard to explain, but then when the cas timing is right on, this wierd noise comes through the intake, like huge vacuum pressure going out the intake and through my afms - panel filter(where it seems to stop making the noise). Ive cranked the engine by hand, and all seems ok. I also lined up my timing marks at tdc, removed cyl 1 spark, and piston was right on TDC, so timing looks to be correct.

Hey guys, i've created an rb26 saving account where i put my money into where i can to save up for the cost of a full rebuild for my motor, car is old now and theres a possibility it mite be on its way out, so im just being prepared thats all.... I've decided i would like to run the car primariliy for the street, hill climbs occasionally on street roads, and track maybe once a year(if that). I'm after reliablilty more than power, an 11sec gtr street car would be nice:)....and want heaps of response out of the car Here's the plan of attack, please feel free to share some ideas, and give advice on parts i could do with/without for my goal of ~300-320awkw max. My car is a 95 r33 gtr vspec. Parts List: Standard Rb26 Head + Block - bored to 86.5mm for oversized pistons (is an n1 block worth buying if im aiming for this power goal and reliability) Tomei 9.15mm Lift In and Ex cams + Tomei adjustable cam gears. Tomei Headgakset Kit 1.2mm thick 87mm Bore, including the Oil restrictor fitted to Head. N1 Oil Pump Replace Water Pump with Brand New factory item ACL Race Big End and Main Bearings Stock Rods + ARP Rod Bolts Forged Pistons (dont know which brand? maybe Tomei, JE, Wiseco?) - need help here - .5mm oversize Arp Headstuds (which i already have in engine - which can be reused right?) HeadWork - dont know if its worth replacing all valve guides, retainers etc...can it get quite costly if i do???, and would you reccommend it? Sydney Kids Oil Mods (all of them) Dont know if i should get bigger Sump? HKS GT-SS Turbos or maybe R34 N1's Nismo 550cc injectors sufficient? Apexi Power FC D-Jetro Bigger Intercooler? Tomei/HKS Dump Pipes Bosch 040 Intank Fuel Pump Is there anything else ive missed, or things i dont really need for my power goal in mind that can save me on costs, id like to keep it as low as possible. I was told my head is now on its last stretch, and shouldnt be machined again, so ill definitely be buying a new head, maybe a block aswell, so i can get the whole motor put together and dummy tested etc while mine is still running. Let me get some advice please, this will be my first big rebuild, i already have 10k.
  9. heres the part no for my cas: 23731 02U11 Further information regarding my issue, when the car starts...and everything is lined up, it feels like its about to turn over, and then the noise of air going through like vaccum to the intake, and it ends at my arc panel....its a wierd noise to explain.... whats this mean?, or could this relate to my cas being faulty in any way???

Thanks, so any cas sensors from early models with the mitsi logo should work?iive been looking at a couple of pictures and they all seem to be exactly the same as mine....if it plugs in and keys in aswell is it safe to say its for my car, or should the cas sensor part no. match up....could i screw anything up if its the wrong sensor?
  11. all i need to do at this stage is check the cas sensor is not faulty, as mine was dropped, can i use an rb engine cas sensor?mine is a mitsubushi.
  12. Hey, my cam gears and crank gear timing was spot on, and when i placed the belt on it was no different, so the timing there is perfect, only thing that wasnt, was the crank pulley timing(ignition timing). yes there a half moon in the exhaust cam and cas sensor to key into.
  13. Thanks, what type of cas sensor could i use with my rb26dett engine from an r33 gtr 95 model?, i was told r33 gtst sensors also work?

Hey, thats the wierd thing, i lined up the crank cam dot at 5pm - all good, then when placing the balancer back on - it was way off the timing marks on the cover(nearly opposite), why would this happen???, anyway, once the balancer was on, i put the car in neutral and rotated the crank until the balancer timing was lined up to the cover mark (took alot of revolutions to do this though)....would this be doing the same thing, or screw up my timing?.... im curious to know why once my balancer was on that the marks didnt line up to the cover, whilst everything else did.... Is it safe to assume when all 3 timing marks are aligned (when balancer is removed), the keyway should be facing up?....ill have to look into this tommorow.
  16. the notch on the crank gear and mark on the balancer cover are totally different, like 2pm (cover) and 5pm (crank gear)....which should i be getting right....im so confsed and read many guides..
  17. Just a word: Upon reading couple of guides theres two different approaches. One seems to be to line up the bottom timing with the balancer and the mark at 2pm on the bottom cover? another i read said to removed the balancer and bottom cover and line up the timing with the mark at 5pm and then put on new belt, and place the balancer back on (no mention of making sure the balancer timing marks with the 2pm mark on the rear cover though as the other guide suggest).
  18. Which cas sensors are interchangealbe, can i use a r33 gtst cas in an rb26dett, or even an r32 gtst one?, i need to test this immediately.
  19. Hey guys, i just done my timing belt, and now my car wont start, it feels like it wants to but it doesnt....i think ive done something wrong.... From the start: Mark cas, and removed, removed top cover Pulled belt off from the 2 cams at the top pulled out radioator and fan removed all belts getting to the timing belt (alternator, p/w, ac) chucked gtr in 4th,pumped brakes and got m8 to loosen up the harmonic balancer 30mm bolt removed 30mm bolt, then removed the balancer removed bottom cover to see timing gear and bottom timing mark removed belt Aligned all my 3 timing marks by turning the crank, and the cams individually - so that each tooth dot was aligned with my marks on the back placed new belt back on + tensioned accordingly (all lines were perfect with their markings when belt was placed on) Placed balancer back on, and noticed it wasnt aligned with its bottom cover marking (the timing gear, and 2 cams marking where all correct before placing the balancer back on ... Rotated crank clockwise several times until the balancer mark and my cam timing marks were correct (at this stage there was no way to tell if my timing gear mark was right on). placed everything back on, including cas (during this time the cas was dropped)....aligned cas Cranked engine, engine feels like it wants to turn over, and it nearly did, but it didnt. Stopped immediately and pondering what to do!? One thing, i feel one of my marks is maybe a mm out or so, would this be all it takes?

Yeah its marked with tiped(or white ink), on both the cas, and on the back cover.....anyway, when i place the cas on the cover it just snaps into place so i dnt think i can go wrong, only concern is the spline in the middle of the cas revolves, and theres a halfmoon inside of it, does this have to be orientated in a certain way to match up with the exhaust cam? p.s no one answered if my mate dropping the cas will have cause it to die....im hoping not! Are CAS sensors interchangeable between the rb26, 25 motors etc...? Is it true i can test my cas sensor to see if it still works....heres a guide from another forum.... 'Take the CAS off leaving it pluged in then turn the key to the on position. Turn the CAS by hand and you sould here clicking of the injectors'
  21. Thanks, also when reinstalling the cas, my car has tippex marking on the cas, and the backing cam plate....do i just line those up and away i go?, the halfmoon keyway looking thing on the cas sensor should just lockin place? all should be up tommorow....

Hey guys, me and my mate were working on my car, and whiel we were doing the timing, my mate dropped the cas sensor, just wondering what the likelyhood of it being f&^kt is now???...its was dropped on concrete, not broken or anything but i think thats not what breaks them...the car should be ready to crank tommorow, will it be obvious if the cas is dead?
