  1. Thanks, so ill have to remove the balancer, and the cover to get access to the timing gear? So would it be safe to say i can setup all the timing with the cover off, and once timing is lined up with the bottom, and 2 cam gears, i can place cover back on and rotate the balancer to get the ignition timing correct(as by this stage my main timing will be spot on),.....am i on the right track here? thanks!, im going to be doing tommorow
  2. Hey guys, im doing my rb26 timing belt for the first time and have few questions. Ive removed the 30mm crank pulley bolt, on the crank pulley itself i see alot of notches(one is orange), i was told the orange one is when your crank is TDC(when lined up with the crank pulley bottom cover timing mark)?..... Anyway, ive been reading a couple of good guides...what i want to know is once i remove the bottom cover (the crank pulley cover), will there be a notch i need to line up?if yes, whats the purpose of the nothes on the crank pulley itself (if the main one is behind the cover), is it just to make 100% sure that when the crank pulley is back on, that your crank is align 100%? Im a bit confused on this one thats all.
  3. Thanks duncan - that helps a great deal, and clarifies alot aswell. So when fitting the new restrictor over the old one, you place the new restrictor over the top of the exisiting one thats there and tap it down slowly until the new restrictor sits flush?......or would it be better to tap the existing one first ever so slightly, then place the new one over the top (now you have it centered and slightly in the bore hole now) then tap it down. I just dont want to screw it up as the block is not coming off. Cheers
  4. Thanks for all the info, lot of variances in the torque settings for each car....seems 80-100 is ok with lube?....when you say 4 stages....does that mean you torque at first stage for all, the increase the torque again for all, then so on and so on, until the end adjust?
  5. Ive been reading the whole oil control article, and think i understand now.....can someone confirm this though...ive attached a new picture. The red area is one of the stock restrictors????, and the tomei restrictor goes over the top of this stock one....is this correct? the yellow area is the other stock restrictor (which is blocked off because its an rb26dett engine)...is this also correct in saying? the green area circled is where one of the dowels go for the block?and the other is on the same side but cannot be seen in the pics
  6. Hey guys, just an update, ive now attached the pic(which i didnt do before - DOH!) Please if someone can point out where the tomei restrictor goes, and whether or not i have the 1 restrictor blocked off...that would be great. Still trying to figure out where these dowels go, im quite certain 1 goes on the corner of the exhaust side cly1, and the other exhaust side, between cyl 5 and 6?(as these holes are slightly more bored than the rest) thanks:)
  7. can someone else confirm this???, ive got the lubricant with my arp kit....is it ~95 ft/lbs for the arp headstuds, as im going to be doing mine very soon aswell.
  8. Hey guys, another update with a picture off someone elses head(rb26).....could someone please edit the pic and highlight: 1) where the oil restrictors are (and state if one has already been blocked off) 2) where the 2 dowels get placed on the block, because when they done my headwork, they removed the dowels... thanks:)
  9. Hey guys, my head is off on my rb26, and i would like to know what the block should look like if the oil restrictor is blocked off(as one should be blocked std on the 26's right?), i fear mine has been removed, is it easy to block off if it has?, ive got a tomei gasket kit coming with the oil restrictor included, where do i place this restrictor, and again is it easy to fit? Pictures would really help me, i dont want to have to pull open the head cause i didnt do these small few things in the 1st place:) thanks in reply!
  10. Hey guys, while driving back home today, i had some white smoke gush out the exhaust, smelt acidic......checked oil and it was milky, sugns of a headgasket, coolant was fully drained aswell!.... trailered it back...heres the plan of attack: Remove head take head to reconditioner to get crack tested, check, re-surfaced etc...make sure its still in good condition repklace headgasket and use arp head studs torque accordingly install head, coolant and oil is this about the right procedure when doing a gasket for a 26, anything adviseable to do when its all out???i hear you use thin oil at the start then run the good stuff afterwards? anyone care to elaborate. cheers guys
  11. cheers ill go 265 to be safe, i have 265 on a 9.5" rim on old gtst and they sat nicely
  12. so a +0 offset would stick out on a r33 gtr?, if so then is it safe to assume that this car has 18x9.5et12" rims?
  13. please post pics peiople, really need to see what im getting.......even the ce28 pictures would be great help..... Question... would a 18 x 9.5" et12 te37 wheel have the more deep spoke look compared to a 18 x 10.5" et15 te37 wheel? since the offset is less on the et12, but the rim size is bigger on the 10.5" obviously....which one will give the more deeper spokes look?
  14. Please post pics, would love to see - i think thats the biggest te37 18" offset available - PICS please....would love to see a staunch looking r33 gtr - and the right heigh and wheels will do just that
  15. thanks man, would 18x10.5" rims +15 be cutting it close?on say a 265 rim? can you post some pics of your ce28s, must look crazy!
  16. Hey guys, i want the bst possible offset te37's for my r33 gtr and was wondering which one will fill the guards really nicely. Also, could you posty pics of some te37s on r33's if possible thanks here are my options 18x9.5 +12 or +22 18.10.5 +15 thanks
  17. Thanks guys for all the comments - yeah im keeping the paint color, i like the stealth look, wheels were imported by a guy down here in new zealand......im getting tints, and maybe clear indicators(dont know if i should???)
  18. basically the guy is selling the 2 headlights, and thats it..... and it comes with the bulbs, do the plugs match and everything...is that all i need? how much do these go for anywa? thanks, p.s are all r33 gtr headlights xeons??or only a specific series
  19. A guy here is selling his 2 x front headlights off an r33 gtr for real cheap, i was told the gtr headlights are based off an r33 series 1 skyline.....would that mean its a direct fitment?is so i will buy them straight away, i dont think this guy knows what hes selling....or does the xeon kit need something special for it to rubn, which only the r33 gtr has?
  20. The wheels are Rota P45r's all round - 18x9.5" on 265 rears, 235 fronts.the rims weigh in at ~8kgs', and ive owned for while now, no problems at all.
  21. Im thinking of getting rear sides and windscreen tinted, and leaving the fronts untouched......dnt know how much to go.....and yeh i think thats the plan - looks wise its all good now, m planning on getting a carbon boot/spoiler if i can though.....
  22. cheers guys, yeah im not really wanting to change anything at all....but if i dont get my [rice, im going to keep......thanks for the comments - im not going to change the front bar at all - i like it the way it is....
  23. Cheers guys, im thinking of getting the bootlid, and wing wrapped in carbon, and respraying the car.....dnno what color i want though...
