  1. just wondering if any of you victorians took active part in any water sports because im looking for advice on how you keep warm? coming into winter, the rivers up here are sub 13 degrees (probably what you guys in victoria have all year round right? ) do you guys use: - dry suits? - spring suits? - steamers? - spring suit with long sleeves? - board shorts? i dont wanna pay $700 for a dry suit, and i just wanted to get an idea of what other alternatives there are? cheers,
  2. beer is good for you winter boarders, what is your preferred method of keeping warm? dry suit? steamer? long sleeve spring suit? were looking at sub 13 degree water now, what do you guys use? im currently debating - dry suit : really dont want to at $700 - a sealed steamer? 3mm? is that warm enough and will it give me mobility? - long sleeve spring suit? 3mm, surely it wouldnt be good enough?
  3. all i'd do on a bnr32 would be to get -doluck rear wing and bumper spoiler (i think this only works on black though) -n1 side skirts -original front bar and lip with n1 vents
  4. SPOTTED: JETT @ BP Fivedock filling up on BP's finest. Last Sunday 4th July with girlfriend(?) following in the support car. We know who wears the pants in this relationship!
  5. heh, a mate has a house on gymea bay, hacking is nothing short of a washing machine imho once a big boat goes through the wake just rolls through the whole bay! - but im sure if your out early enough its okay craved, yeah houseboat thing seems very cool. especially since theres nothing to do on a houesboat but fish! never seen that vid, but i have a few others i downloaded
  6. we could use it as the boat where we relax and have lunch on, moor the ski boats to it and use it like a pontoon
  7. i reckon that'd put out a pretty crappy wake and and cost too much in petrol for the day
  8. scotsman, no problems - it just means you will have to "make do" for another year! the tyre dude is a local friend, that price is MY price you cut down the overhead of a big name tyre shop and you get the better prices. knore, i asked the same thing to myself. a few friends swear by the azenis, i swear by the R1R's. i've got 20,000km's and 3 trackdays out of them at Wakefield and you'd probably get the same out of the Azenis. i'll get some prices for the azenis and also these dunlops and get back to you...
  9. One day late but here nonetheless: Trampios R1R 255/40 x 17 = $350 a corner. 235's and 245's are low in stock. limited supplies till further notice, so place your orders. email me. i can also get Dunlop R Specs, just confirming on price and tread pattern. shipping to melbourne can be organised.
  10. meshmesh, here ya go dude: http://www.j-garage.com/4110.htm but dont believe everything you read on the internet my wrx felt alot quicker than my r34. very similar mods too, but we'll wait and see what the skyline does when it gets a new turbo yeah the 01 was abit of a dissapointment but they still have heaps of potential as many of my old wrx friends are experiencing. with the added semi mechanical front diff, brembo brakes and stronger gearbox it certainly had a better platform to work on. what 2 of my friends have done is put the US spec 2.5 litre STi blocks into their 02 and 03 STi's. The 03 STi is recording 230awkw on some pretty meagre boost apparently but the best thing was the price! AUD2.2k landed and the block is complete with pistons......how is that for an upgrade!!!
  11. meshmesh, the first WRX was actually released in 1992. in 1994 the first STi came out. i'm not going to comment much on this thread because my previous ride was a MY98 WRX and it was and still is an awesome car and btw, i was never beaten by a skyline mainly cause there just werent that many around at the time one comment though, the WRX does NOT "handle" better, it just has phenomenal grip levels. "handling" is a totally different ball game.
  12. i'll have prices and sizes by COB today on the R1R's. Guaranteed to beat that $500+ price tag you got before by a long way. Shipping tyres to Melbourne from sydney is about $20 a tyre.
  13. Hrm, you might be pushing it for this weekend
  14. i'll get prices for you tomorrow mate. being in melbourne is a right pain the ass though!
  15. after the success of RexNet trackday #1 they are at it again with #2. Already booked they are now looking to fill 40 car spots for the day. The day is very well run with ample track time for all. I hope you can come and join me punt around the track with some great people and cars. Your spot will not be guaranteed until the full amount of money is deposited into the organisers account (as he has already pre-paid the full amount with his own money). I have booked the Track for REX.NET members and friends for a private track day for us only to give you a feel for what its like to be on a track and also see just how fun your car really can be. again Wakefield Track day is Friday August 27th 2004 NOTE: I am booking the day out of my own pocket, so I will need for people to pay up before hand so I can finish paying for the track before the day. Cost will be $80 per driver (+ $40 12 month Wakefield licence payable on the day if you don't already have one). Please PM or email ([email protected]) me to arrange payment as soon as is possible, as payment will secure your spot in an ABSOLUTE maximum 40 car field. Layout Everyone will be split into 4 groups and will be on the track in 15 minute lots, giving everyone fair time on the track, plenty of time to give drivers and cars a rest, with assurance of 15 minutes every hour on the track. More experienced drivers will be on hand to give the first timers a ride as passengers and also ride as passengers for the first few laps to show you the lines of the track What Do I NEED to Bring? All you need to bring is a Helmet (can be hired from the track), long sleve shirt, Long pants and covered shoes (just some old sneakers). Lunch the Tucker Shop will be open all day for refreshments Please remember, I have organised this and paid out of my own pocket so need payment before the day to me to secure your spot. It will be a great and enjoyable rex.net event and opertunity for some more laughs The last track day we had was a huge success and a lot lot of fun. the Track Here is an 11meg vid what a day at Wakefield is like http://www.boostn247.com/wakefield/Kicksta...tartmyHeart.wmv Here is a 16.9 meg video of a hot lap arround the track http://www.boostn247.com/wakefield/kevwakefield2.wmv and another 12meg of an MY99 http://www.boostn247.com/wakefield/wakefieldlap.mpg List of names attending start here 1:Autosport 2:B005t 3:XSSIIV 4:Zak72 5:OzWRX 6:WREXED 7:Pedler 8:Sanchez 9:Bennoz 10:Tracka 11:Mattl 12: This could be you
  16. have you got a ski boat craved? i ski behind my mates malibu 04 wakesetter vlx, so im fairly lucky that one of my best friend owns one i'm usually up at windsor (sackville) most sundays and even winter... best water and no crowds! you can't get much better than that you just need a dry suit!!! if you end up organising something, id be very interested. duncan, i'll upload a wakeboarder behind a car tonite
  17. fibreglass is crap. i have a crack on one side of my front bar and its being held up by "race tape" on the other - both of which had to do with incidents involving driveways. if you can get the real deal, get the real deal. original plastic absorbs a shitload more imho.
  18. i've just come back from my first go-kart "racing" experience and it was really fun & competitive!!! 2 of my friends have bought karts but are now in the process of selling them because they have hooked up with this competition Aaron McGill runs (and him and his 2 sons also compete in) down at Kembla Grange, NSW every 6 weeks or so.....(sorry for the non NSW subscribers interested in this) the format is as follows: * 3 people per team, the race track facilities supplies the go-kart and overalls/helmet where need be. * each team member gets a 10 minute qualifyer * each team member races a 20 lap race in the position they qualified for, but being a team event, the 3rd race is in reverse order startup. * the team does a 1 hour enduro where every 10 mins there is a mandatory driver change. * there is a team and individual driver points system. * each week trophies and prizes they are looking for new teams, currently there are 9 teams committed but obviously more would make it more interesting total cost per team per race is $270. so for a team of 3 its $90 per head. top way to spend the night out! racing starts at about 6:30pm and finishes up at around 10:00pm, lots of fun racing
  19. mark: z32 is still in the garage thats PHASE 2 which is coming shortly roy: nothing emperical to report on sorry. performance is as i originally stated...seat of the pants feel still feels impressive especially with my modified avcr settings (i think i have it better than jimmy just quietly ) knock sensor still remains quiet (as it should) and even with the lesser fuel brands (ie. opticrap and 8000) the tune is still very impressive going from my knock levels vs performance. i dont know what "bouncing off the rev limiter" means sorry i'd say no it wouldnt otherwise nissan would've put something a little bit more preventative than just a rev limiter???
  20. will a kit-kat suffice??? why stop at doing the piping! you may aswell chop up a truck core and use that as a core! save ya a shitload too then!!! my FMIC kit plumbs back to the original pipes under the guard, it is l337!!! im sure for 90% of readers of this thread the stock piping from the turbo and to the inlet manifold will suffice. seriously though, point taken - i think your last line sums it up best. but there's no way your engine bay looks ANYTHING remotely close to mine or hoo@h's. yours would be far from standard....and as for your predicament with your "kit"...shrug...maybe it was put in the wrong box
  21. tsk tsk cutting holes compromises structual rigidity and is therefore defectable! maybe mine wasn't a type S, mine plumb back to the original sidemount pipes from under the guard...
  22. dont be a tight ass with this stuff, the jap kit is the only way to go. the amount of running around you'd need to do and then having to leave the car with the fabricator to plumb your pipework - a person you dont know from a bar of soap? have they even done a piping kit for a skyline before? do they have the mandrel bends already done? do they have the "lip" on the end of the pipes so that the hose clamps dont blow off? sure you could save yourself a couple of hundred bucks but is it really worth the effort? and what if the fabrication doesnt fit quite right and starts rubbing on engine or structual components? are you really saving yourself that much money up front? and how about resale value? i bought my near new HKS TypeS interooler kit for my GTT nearly 2 years ago at $1500. heres the pics to my install http://www.pbase.com/franks/07dec02_fmic_install it was done in half a day. everything fit like a glove - like it should.
  23. just a quick question? i was reading through your list of mods and nothing stands out or isn't clearly defined for of any preventative measures undertaken for the common "oil starvation" problems the RB26 suffers? could you indicate what has been done to cater for any potential problems? ie. larger sump? sump baffles? oil gallery restrictors? if any....? cheers,
  24. sorry to hear about your unfortunate circumstances, best of luck for a speedy recovery. id be trying to move on from here. it is, after all, only "a car" and you probably wouldnt want it back anyways considering god knows what its been through by now....bug your insurance company for the pay out and look forward to a new car! just back to a point made earlier about car batteries and car alarms, does a car alarm usually go off or attempt to immobilise itself if the battery is disconnected? i know with quicktrak alarms when the battery is disconnected HQ is notified and the car alarm goes off/immobilises itself? in any case Quicktrak is being sold off......does anyone know if CarCom by NRMA still going?
  25. is 28% income flat rate or is it a sliding scale??? resume goes in tomorrow! *fingers crossed*
