yeah i've heard the same thing. full nissan headlight assembly is $2500 according to a friend who was replacing one from a smash. not hard to believe when you get quoted $250 for a set of front nissan brake pads! as for halogens in the r34, afaik, when mine was complianced the xenon bulb is removed and a halogen is fitted with some extra wiring. here is a pic with the halogen bulb in and the xenon plug out. http://www.pbase.com/image/8509575 dean from upimports should be able to help you.

but A/F ratio's dont lie Tony... When Matt plugged his wide band sensor into the dump pipe and we went on the tune, the numbers told a million words.

i've had c&v tune my powerfc twice. once on install and the 2nd time after the boost was raised. overall i think they are a little overpriced and the tune wasnt spot on. con could've spent abit more time on it for the money he charged. both were dyno tunes. the hitman has tuned it since, mainly concentrating on mid range and top end. commented that the previous tune (ie. c&v's) was fairly scrappy in areas, but ok in others. top end was running a little too lean for matt's liking apparently. im happy with matt's tune except my low end and mid range is a little temporemental. i get detonation and my powerfc can register up to 140-150 on the knock meter. but power is sensational in all areas. so matt, if your listening, when is your laptop software ready to hook into my car and when can you put the gold plating on my tune! i've spent about $700 so far on tuning. the question arises, would i have been better off spending the same sort of money on a once off tune at CRD who is apparently the duckz nutz...well...these tunes have been done over a period of a year? so probably not really imho...

abobob, that is a Top Secret copy (not a very good one). Supplied and fitted by Carmate about a year and abit ago. drive-in and drive-out $800. cutting? hahah only a slight bit on both sides of the core where the pipes exit the core....and i stuffed it up too im not the best with an air saw - but im getting better :) goodluck nismo_au

here are pics to my hks type S intercooler install, firstly the piping goes nowhere near the engine bay as they plug back into the original turbo and inlet manifold pipes (well atleast is for the R34) http://www.pbase.com/franks/07dec02_fmic_install i have 199.5rwkw with the following modifications on c&v's dyno in sydney -0.8bar boost on stock turbo using apexi avcr -powerfc tuned by c&v -hks typeS front mount intercooler -stock air box with high flow panel -trust dd cat back exhaust with hiflow cat -hks front and dump pipes so your target power is pretty spot on with your planned modifications and similarly with mine as i plan on running about 1.1bar through a 2530 turbo and im hoping for around 230rwkw... a thicker i/c core helps reduce pressure drop across the core so your throttle response should be better id imagine. when evaluating the performance of intercooler systems you can really only evaluate thermal and pressure efficiencies. ie. how well the i/c system reduces the compressed air temps from your turbo back down to ambient temperatures and how much pressure it loses to cool that air down. afaik, the taller the core the greater thermal efficiency it has, the thicker the core the better pressure efficiency it has. so, if the difference between the typeS and R is solely thickness, then overall, the R would be better due to its better pressure efficiency. as for it matching the power levels your after im sure both would do equally aswell as each other. i didnt think any interooler piping comes in mild steel?

im surprised most of us here who are insured havent got atleast a 3 point immobiliser? i know that they wouldnt insure me unless i had quiktrack installed, another friend wouldnt insured if they didnt have a brant immobiliser installed. jimx, what are the 6 points of immobilisation? -
all i know is, eating is cheating :devfu: adrian, good on you man. put your balls on the line, get the nos in the engine and do some f*&^%$# impressive times over 400m of bitumen.

arghhhhhhhhhhhhh my eyes!!!!!!!!!! -
i went from an apexi pod to a noname highflow element in a stock box and i couldnt be happier. defect free, no noticeable seat of the pants difference in performance, is boxed off from the hot ambient under bonnet temperatures and has a built-in air duct. im sure a pod with a proper partition and cold air duct would perform marginally better, but street cars aren't chasing 2 or 3kw's and if you havent got that you'd only be sucking in more hot air anyways.

quiktrack or brandt. get yourself a good 3 point immobiliser and if you want to be abit more extravagant, get yourself onto a global tracking system such as quiktrack (however you spell it). if they steal it after that, good luck to them. thats what insurance is for. -

franks replied to R33s-Goesoff's topic in General Automotive Discussion
why is a dickhead in their car on a public street just as bad as a burglar or drunk driver? i saw a pretty keen guy in a Jeep weaving in and out of peak hour morning traffic along the M4 this morning. dunno what was wrong with him but he even went onto the shoulder of the road to get by slow traffic. what a moron. -
i think im too competitive. i dont wave, i just race

i believe the reason why *any* modified exhaust is illegal is because it alters the emmissions of the vehicle - and NOT ONLY the sound... getting an engineers certificate qualifying it as meeting epa regulations will make the aforementioned null and void - this is my understanding of the rules as set out by the RTA. as posted, that link shows approved RTA mechanics that can provide valid engineers certificates clearing your car of any future defects. basically, if you modify your car you run the risk of being defected, given you dont have the appropriate documents. we live in a modern society - we should lead by example and appreciate and respect these kinds of EPA laws that will save our environment and earth's future. now, who can install my screamer pipe?
