  4. alot of SR owners wont be happy with you! SR's are great motors! why wouldnt you spend the money on the SR? in any case, id love to monitor the progress of this project so i can rub it into my SR loving friends.... as for big hp in an RWD car....i think its pointless to be quite honest, unless you have tubs and slicks, no traction is an absolute nuisance!!! get a GTR. a better platform to modify from PLUS the added traction with ATTESSA.

RWD's are fun, yet extremely frustrating not being able to put the power to the ground. imho, a GTSt isn't a true sports car, i believe its far too heavy. if you like power & handling maybe an S14 could be an option? they are easy to get power out of. another alternative is the Silvia or 180SX with an SR20... GSR's are a great car. they are light, they are powerful & they are 4wd. deadly, but boring, package...

  9. a 1 hour tune is an awefully quick and nasty tune??? i can guarantee you will get what you pay for... i've heard Jim @ CAS charges around $800 but he does put in the hours. tuning will be the last thing on my performance modification list and it will probably be one of the most expensive item aswell - i don't want to go back for a retune and i want it to be tuned for full throttle low end, mid range & top end and also tuned for half throttle/cruise - i want it to be perfect!!! remember, any mug can tune top end. i've had my powerfc tuned twice by C&V, both times after performance upgrades done to the car. I think Con is OK, but needs more practise. he's only spent about 3 hours in total tuning my car and i think it performs like it has had 3 hours tuning done to it. in summary, my full throttle low and bottom ends are pretty good, mid range in a higher gear with high loads has its problems, im running out of AFM, injector duty cycles can be a little bit random and half throttle i dont think anything has been tuned...! i get about 400kms to a tank and this is city driving with more than the average spurts -> im happy with this. on highway driving i get about the same? -> i dont like this. attached is a dyno graph after my last mod, which was boost upped to 1.0bar with c&v tuned PowerFC. mods are not disclosed.
  10. hi mark, are you saying that our stock afm's are playing up? if so, perhaps some contact cleaner through the afm would do the trick? i dunno if buying a 2nd hand afm would be worth it? why not pay similar price for a larger z32?

  12. has anyone fitted a GTRS turbo onto an RB25? interested to know - what the results were? - if the GTRS is still a low mount turbo? - and how much work was necessary for the adaptor flange to be made up as i believe the GTRS is a bolt on for an SR20 and not an RB25. cheers,
  13. im pushing ~190rwkw and my stock afm is maxing out according to my powerfc. is this down to poor tuning or is my stock turbo and apexi super intake really sucking some air in??? this is on an ER34 skyline.
  14. i thought audible detonation sounded like a tin can shaking around with nutz and bolts in it. could that sound be just vibration noise from the exhaust or turbo heat shield? does your check engine light come on when you hear this noise? i've registered 150+ on my powerFC for knock and i've still not heard detonation. i believe you're alot more susceptible to detonation when you start advancing ignition timing. i just can't imagine how an increase in boost and some fuel adjustments could be making the car detonate (unless you've taken out alot of fuel and your running a shitload of boost). i wouldn't trust a/f ratios from a turbo timer. you are best to get it tuned on a dyno with the sniffer up the exhaust.
