  1. i would hate to think its because of anything to do with the australian contact, simon, who had a freak accident the other week?
  2. ahhh the finance minister...
  3. i guess it depends on what you need to get done dude. if you only need to change engine oil and filter then you can do it yourself!? try proconcepts out at ryde or c&v. i guess it depends on where you live/work and how much convenience you want for when you drop it off and pick it up?
  4. sonic where did you drive the evo8? i think all evo's are amazing cars. wrx sti has shorter gears than a wrx, i dont think an evo has that much shorter than an sti? gotta love ayc and acd....
  5. hrmmm i dont think all those costs can attribute to just the one trackday....i mean, you didnt go through the whole set of brake pads & fluids did you? in any case, yes it is an expensive hobby.
  6. yes that would be james aka JIMBO. i dont think any company will lease a car that is not registered in australia. ie. it has to have been imported, complied and registered to be able to be taken up on a lease.
  7. everytime i see a fuel consumption related thread people from other states always seem to get better fuel consumption figures! i think it comes down to one or more of the following: states other than NSW have: 1. far less traffic 2. far more highway driving 3. far better fuel
  8. there is no myth to this guys. on a standard ecu, air/fuel ratio will run to about 10.5:1. this is because the power its making is beyond the fuel maps of the standard ecu. hence the ecu will throw all the fuel it can at the engine to try and keep it safe.
  9. are you sure its the check engine light??? is it the oil light??? checked oil levels lately??? some sensors may be malfunctioning, for instance your AFM? maybe try some contact cleaner on it? goto a different mechanic. the fool obviously doesnt know what to do with the safc. they will be a tremendous help when properly tuned. and you know you can default your safc back to zero's and essentially let the ecu run "factory". ???
  10. would go for the s14, but make sure its an s14a..the updated front looks sooo much better. prelude? ZzzZZzzZzzz if you're going to go something like that, why not get a E36 318is or E36 328 coupe? they are just as slow but atleast its not as tinny and looks far more classy. my rule is fast jap car or slow classy euro. the faster euro's are too expensive at the moment! never a slow jap!!!
  11. i found a bloody R33 i/c core instead of my r34 i/c core!!! RIPPED OFF!!!! apart from that, no surprises but i've never taken out the back seats..
  12. thats shocking. im surprised at how calm you are about the whole thing! please PM dealer name...
  13. you will be less fuel efficient. 1. the more power you make the more richer your ecu runs (assuming you have standard ecu) 2. you will love the sound and performance so much you wont be off your accelerator pedal. fuel efficiency comes down to 2 things. city/hwy driving and your right foot.
  14. fatz, you can buy my car. make me an offer before i go semi ballistic on the thing....
  15. was getting about 13l/100km with stock ecu. predominately city driving. with the powerfc tuned, im getting about the same, maybe a tad but less but a helluva lot of time is spent on the accelerator pedal now though
  16. how about a massive cruise to jindabyne!? thats where im going on this night anyways
  17. try resetting the ecu overnight. the next morning start her up and give the car a thrashing of a life time...your ecu might've picked up some bad habits...
  18. benm, you think all stock ecu's run close to 12:1 afr at 12psi and have the afr line anywhere near close to that??? i dont think so dude!!! you have a chipped stocky ecu. stock ecu's with stock boost run around 10.5:1 afr! yours is being leaned out somehow and i suspect thats the reason for your very impressive dyno results. as for my car, i'm happy with the power its making, its not all about peak power, its the area under the graph that counts. that said, i know where i can find power, my intake pipe is crushing under load i need to replace it with a fabricated pipe, as the HPI 34 did...
  19. errrrrrrrrrr.....maybe for the snow or loose dirt!!! the rx7 is a faster cornering car than a bnr34, hands down. ie. it is the better handling car. you are confusing GRIP and HANDLING. on another note, series6 rx7's arent no slouches going in straight lines either. all you need is some decent slicks.
  20. thats like 5mins from my place. they should put a speed camera on both sides of the road to stop IDIOTS like this doing it again.
  21. whats a "decent" 34 gtt to you fatz!? i might know a couple
  22. im pretty sure you would've reacted the same way if the roles were swapped badman. i hope you were being honest and pulling over where safe and that the police see it the same way. i also hope your stereotypical attitude changes aswell.
  23. this is a before and after. only difference being boost was raised from say 0.7bar to 1.0bar. its hard to say what difference the powerfc made on top of the boost gain, but when I first installed the FC i remember the torque was raised like 50newtons across the whole rev range. the car definately felt alot more torquey down low. up top there wasn't that much difference, maybe just under 10rwkw gain? but it all comes down to the tuner. its hard to go past the FC because of its plug & play features and sydney workshops/tuners are getting alot better at them now (c&v for instance). so there'll be an abundance of knowledge around...
  24. i'll take your word for it i think we all know which one were talking about....
  25. could be a bent chassis too
