  1. yup. sold. winner. add the cusco tarmac spec diffs (60/40 split) and a nice 6 sp gearbox and you are set!!!
  2. does the US 2.5L STi block drop into the GC8 wrx??? id do that.
  3. emre is the man! thanks for the dvd's dude! no fuss, and extremely fast service. why arent there more people like you!
  4. G, yes, you're entitled to your own opinion and we all classify what "fun" is very differently. wether you are speeding in an audi or speeding in a skyline, you are still "speeding". yes, it is very difficult to get tyre squeel out of an audi (or any AWD car) whilst getting stuck into it through a corner, i certainly know this because i always try and get my brothers B6 1.8t quattro to be more adventurous!!! as for tyre squeel, if you havent got the grip but more importantly, if you can't take a corner properly then of course you'll get tyre squeel cause you're overcooking the tyres. you can't automatically assume a RWD hi performance car will have tyre squeel when going hard into a corner!?!? i dont see Formula 1 cars squeeling all over the place? nor do i see the V8 super cars screeching around corners? hrm, i'll have to agree to disagree. perhaps you should try going out as a passenger onto a racetrack in a fast RWD car to understand what real "driving" is, and experience some "fun" whilst you're at it The previous car to my old R34 GTT was a WRX so whilst i appreciate what you're saying with the AWD vs RWD "grip" argument i can't quite agree with you in saying that you can go harder in an AWD than a setup RWD car - though on dirt, definately yes. i never liked traction control in my 34! it slowed me down! it would come on mid corner and be totally pointless! in the wet, yes, it was actually quite good - but i never really knew if the TC worked with the ABS unit though....i had a similar discussion with another group of friends who said that the R34 TC system just cut power to the engine - but when i drove the car it felt as though some brake balancing was happening..... GTR's aren't AWD.
  5. maybe in the backseat you would you obviously weren't driving your skyline hard enough buddy! The F6 is a GT (Grand Touring) car, NOT a sports car. hence, you're comparing a sports car with a family sports sedan. For what it is, it does well. for eg. i'd prefer to cruise down (with cruise control) to the snow in a soft (yet re-affirming) ride of an F6 to that of a cramped up skyline with 15 year old sluggish suspension or set of tein flex coil overs which hurt my kidneys everytime i go over a bump- do you see my point? Ford is looking at market share - its as simple as that. They (Ford) acknowledge that the V8 market is taken. Holden has it, no questions, but who has the 6 cylinder performance market? the Mitsubishi Magna with Evo6.5 body kit??? a Toyota Camry??? I dont think Holden need to look at anything - they have moved from 5.0 litre cast iron block V8's to Gen 3 alloy heads to LS1 and now to LS2. They are progressing fine...i wouldn't call that an ignorance to technology id say thats you stereotyping more than anything.... You don't buy a performance car to skimp on petrol buddy. You may aswell buy a Honda City. That said, i only averaged 13l/100km and thats when my R34 GTT had close to 190rwkw with a tuned PowerFC. Hrmmm, have you asked any GTR owners how their car's thirst for petrol is???? Big and Heavy reads comfortable and practical - again, back to my first refute, you are trying to compare two totally different cars with different purposes. I can't say much about the quality issues you speak about. My dad has gone through EA, EF and now an AU2 falcon without dramas and i have had a Subaru WRX and ER34 Skyline without any gremlins. I think its unfair to generalise this issue, but, i won't disagree with the fact that a Holden or Ford would be *more likely* to break than a japanese car. stock for stock, yeah so would i
  6. 2200kg! awesome. i bet you're excited! re: the gearbox - good stuff. i heard the same today. also that 6th gear in the holden is quite useless as its too long? go the typhoon, im excited.
  7. hrmmm they left the gearbox hey! i always thought that was a weak point of the XR6T? go the typhoon! awesome buy im sure we'll be seeing/hearing more of it from you! whats the towing capacity of a typhoon?
  8. so for 14k on top of the xr6t, what does the typhoon offer? 1. bigger wheels? 2. different bodykit? 3. new gearbox? 4. bigger injectors? 5. different intercooler? 6. remapped ecu? what else?
  9. hrmmmm the oil cooler not working issue - sounds very familiar!!!!!! i'll give you my experience with my dilemna's.... i had the exact same symptoms as you, run 3 or 4 hot laps and oil temps would soar to 130 degrees...i had a trust-grex oil cooler unit with thermostat. only my problem was easily identifiable, the oil cooler core wasn't getting hot at all. i personally would leave the thermostat on because getting oil temps up to regular operating temperatures is hard, especially if your car is a daily driver - i have issues with oil not working at normal operating temperature. if you have a thermostat, from your engine block you should have two hoses running from oil filter mount to a relocated sandwich plate and oil filter and then two hoses from your sandwich plate to the oil cooler core. from the engine block, try to identify which hose is the "OUT" hose. i did this by going for hard drives, opening the bonnet and physically touching holding them - if neither of these hoses are hot to touch then its obvious the hose is blocked from the block! a couple of problems can be identified here: 1. your thermostat on your sandwich plate could be stuck closed - it should open and allow oil to flow through to the oil cooler core at certain temperatures. 2. your IN and OUT hoses from your engine block may be incorrectly plumbed to the sandwich plate - the sandwich plate should have IN and OUT markings on it. if both your oil filter is hot and your hoses are plumbed correctly, then check the hoses running from your sandwich plate to your oil cooler core. again there will be markings on your sandwich plate indicating IN and OUT. one hose should obviously be hotter than the other, if neither of them are hot then it will be either of the sandwich plate problem aforementioned, otherwise it may be incorrect plumbing from your sandwich plate to your core or you could have a blocked hose. Pull both hoses off the core and see if you get oil pumping through any of them whilst the engine is turning over (this could get messy). if its only dribbling through then you have a sandwich plate problem - oil should be screaming through. if you dont have a thermostat, the plumbing will be totally different. you'll have one hose from the engine block going to your sandwich plate and oil filter and another one going directly to your oil cooler core. i think this is an easier system to identify your problem. for me, i replaced my trust/grex sandwich plate with an Earls unit to get rid of the thermostat. a few joiners later and the oil cooler core was getting hot like it should be. after identifying the IN and OUT markings on the back of my trust/grex sandwich plate i realised what my dumbf*&$ lazy mechanic never bothered checking and that is the plumbing was incorrect... HTH.
  10. because this accident didnt result from street racing or didnt result in a death maybe? i've seen a car flipped on parra rd which didnt make the news...
  11. spotted abo bob flying up the left lane to cut infront of a bus heading east on anzac parade on thursday night
  12. aside from all of the above...from my brief visit to japan in january i was most impressed with the train ticket vending machines! you could basically drop a handful of coins (like the pokies!) into the coin slot and it would calculate it correctly with no rejects.... the amount of times i've put a friggin SINGLE coin (cause thats all it accepts) into a train ticket machine here in sydney only to have it fall through rejected pisses me off to no end!!!! on a negative note, i will say that the amount of nigerian hecklers in Roppongi is a MASSIVE turn off for me...........
  13. heheh... C&V said it was because of the car shuddering on the 4wd dyno. probably wasnt strapped in tight enough...
  14. hehehehehe.... didnt notice that okay, an excuse for another random photo from my race queens of TAS04 tribute gallery
  15. tell them that heaps of chicks with hardly anything on go to watch...like these for instance:
  16. a friend and dyno from my old car.
  17. damn ferrari drivers making skyline drivers look bad............. pic aint working, so heres one for you.
  18. it takes alot of bitumen to get to 160km/h though.... let them, motorways are far more safer to go high speeds on - weren't they built for just that? maybe you should include people who can't spell either mate
  19. i always say to myself after a trackday, "theres no point in speeding after a day like that" ... but it wears away in about 1 week would you trust this guy??? kekkeeke
  20. how do you get around it? what happens when you get pulled over for a license check?
  21. what are people's thoughts on the solution to this epidemic? curfews? better licensing systems? stricter penalties? heavier fines? regulate car manufacturers power levels? better signage on the roads? i personally like how they license motorbike riders and the victorian system, ie power to weight ratio to age?
  22. i have trouble pulling taxi's off the line. turbo lag is a bitch.
  23. given you live in SA i also think you should be getting abit more out of your tank than what you are getting.... from my experience and also reading and replying to many many threads of the same topic: if you lived within a radius of say 15km of sydney city i'd be very surprised if you got any better than 13l/100km. if you lived out of that radius then yeah, 10-12l/100km. victorians also seem to get very good fuel economy, i have a theory that they have better fuel quality and obviously they havent got the same traffic congestion (similar to brisbanites).
