  1. my 34 gtt is now sold but here's some comments anyways...i had my 34 for 2 years and it went through a fair few mods from engine bolt-ons to suspension bits whilst i had it... - i personally think there are a sh!tload more bolt on mods available for r33 gtst's - looks are personal, imho though, a stock r34 gtt's look VERY ORDINARY whilst a stock R33 looks nice - you'd save quite a bit buying an r33 over a 34. - i think r33's react better to mods than an r34, the neo rb25 seems to kill it, similar to when the wrx went from the GC8 to the GC9. - r33's have tuffer stock turbo's than 34's i really enjoyed the 34, the following did it for me: - it had a pretty nice kit on it from japan when i bought it so it was abit of a head turner - i took it down the track a fair bit and eventually got it setup really well (heres a vid from behind http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/photopost.../cat/500/page/1) nb: the wrx the video camera is in is a stroked 2.2litre MY02 STi with plenty of mumbo and all i was running was 7psi. i think it was abit of a track weapon personally, a little underpowered though. - i also enjoyed many trips in it. ie. up to the hunter valley and down south. it was a very comfortable car to drive. http://www.pbase.com/franks/image/12443620 - it wasnt the best on fuel, but no performance car is, and this is certainly not the worst car on fuel consumption... - it was practical. i could fit 2 adults and 2 small people pretty comfortably. it can fit my mountain bike in the back (if i took my front wheel off) and it could also fit my wakeboard. it doesnt have split fold rear seats though - that's a bummer. the 33 will have more room in the back too. so overall. yeah top allround car, had street presence, was a weapon on the track and it toured wonderfully - but nothing a 33 couldnt do i dont think ... enjoy the pics.
  2. for real!?!?!?
  3. hahaha, in a wrx, yes i really sorted out my suspension settings after that video....went to a softer swaybar setting and added 1.75 degrees neg camber to the front and it was just sublime.... the toyo trampios r1r's are also the best tyres i've ever had. id really like to test a set of azenis to see how they compare. after several trackdays the tyres got about 20,000km's out of them....awesome.
  4. yeah was such a shame but oh well they are a dime a dozen im sure hahahah, joining the plebs now hey now lets see if i can agree on some things with you but when you don't declare your mods you are in full knowledge that you wont be covered, similarly to if you act negligently on the road - my point is, coming off at the track and hitting a wall is an unknown risk which some people aren't prepared to take knowing the consequences are that insurance claim wont be honoured if you were to smash your car. don't get me wrong, i understand full well what everyone is trying to say about taking "enthusiastic" driving to a safer controlled environment like a track, but im also just trying to illustrate why some people would be hesitant in going... duncan's r33 was a pretty stock r33 but hasn't that just gone through an engine rebuild? aren't you contradicting yourself here? i want to speed fully hectic bro on the track with my skyline (what was my skyline anyways) but i want it to be fine - why did you say i should get a cheap track car? i thought if you kept on top of servicing etc, things would be fine? are you saying trackwork is taxing on your car??? im a corporate slave i dont quite agree, but if you think a lap of wakefield or eastern creek has the same wear and tear factor as a 140km/hr squirt down homebush bay drive, i'll just have to agree to disagree .........i agree whole heartedly!!! my point is, not everyone can afford to goto the track. what they do on a public road is up to them.
  5. hahaha, im serious Bman! we all dont have high disposable incomes like you do and im a permy mate, not a contractor did you see my above edit?? car's goneeeeee - i thought i had this R32 GTR secured http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/0156 but it fell through....bummer... anyways, back to topic, just for the record i can't afford to do a trackday a month althought i'd very much like to! because: a) its taxing on the car B) i've gotta take time off work c) the hidden costs must be considered d) the risk of putting the car into a wall is risky (hence the reason why i like Wakefield) e) if i blow my engine, i aint got $7k cash lying around to get it back on the road hrmmmmkay!? ps. check this video out if you havent already, shit like this can happen anytime on a race track http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/photopost.../cat/500/page/1
  6. the answer is simple dude: 1. the risk of putting your car into a wall or another car and writing it off with your insurance company not honouring the claim because it was on a race track is far to great for some. 2. the risk of blowing your engine and having to fork out a) the cost of a rebuild and B) the tow back from the race track home is too expensive... some people can't afford a $7k rebuild (at best) in one hit. buying the modifications you just listed probably took 2 or 3 months for some people to save up for.... B-Man, the bannana R34 is go00ne.....sold it 6 weeks ago to Erik in WA. poor bugger. kekekekkeke.....j/k. he got it for a steal....
  7. im only stirring its the only thing you can do when you dont have a car anymore :spcartman
  8. isnt it "opinions are like r33's - everyone has one" :burnout:
  9. i'll have a car again one day
  10. i don't know if Merli would be saying the same thing after he broke his engine on a race track i heard a quote once, one hot lap on a race track does the equivalent wear and tear to about 5,000 road km's....dunno the justification of this quote so take it with a grain of salt, but i know my oil temps can reach in excess of 130 degrees and i've never gone over 100 on the road or through the national park just here to stir, continue on
  11. hehe, i've got shitloads of pics/vids etc. 99% of them taken by me and also of local SAU members too... heres some more
  12. mate, you still have a degree of risk dying on a track as you do a public road, i can even show you a video of how messy things could get on a track that said, he's not here bragging about the fact he was being stupid, being performance car enthusiasts its a given were all stupid behind the wheel at times! the other thing is, if you knew this stretch of road you'd understand how tempting it is to speed there. its about exercising caution where necessary. in jnr32's instance, and me knowing that very stretch of road, i think im at liberty to say he wasn't being stupid and speeding in a built up unsafe area - he took a risk to speed and it didnt pay off.
  13. dude, i drove past you whilst you were pulled over on the side of the road by the cop  i don't know if you know that area or not, but its an awesome strip of road to speed on and thats NO secret!!! were the cops sitting on the median strip just past the trees? not trying to justify the crime or anything, but this stretch of road is very straight, with wide dual lane carriage ways and large median strip in the middle. it is a glorious and relatively safe road to go fast on - not that i ever have
  14. i agree with boosted, money doesn't lie for a good price and decent job, talk to Tai at Steven's Prestige. i used to take all my odds and ends there. these guys have worked on pretty much every performance car under the sun, skylines, wrx's, 200sx's, honda's (?) etc. Steven's Prestige Body Shop 18 Hollywood Drv Lansvale 2166 (02) 9754 2747 Mobile Service 0411 107 654 if money isn't an objective then talk to Kelvin at Panel One. these are authorised bmw and alfa repairers that also do mercs, porsche and ferrari's. their workshop is very impressive... i did my front mount install there. http://www.pbase.com/franks/07dec02_fmic_i..._install&page=1 Panel One Pty Ltd 76 O'riordan St Alexandria 2015 (02) 9669 6799
  15. i thought the holden torana was the legend
  16. absolutely, i'd love a 32 GTR because they're cheap up-front, but, for the long run they are definately questionable. but to say that they are ageing in looks is definately a little biased....
  17. 15yrs on and i dont think they've lost any street cred at all! they still look tuffer than ever... let me demonstrate! from mild to wild!!! R32 GTR. Full Stop.
  18. heehe, yet you're on a skylines forum? you know you want one :)
  19. stock GTR front is the best!!! -stock front bar -n1 nostrils -bonnet nose -n1 side skirts -do-luck T2 rear bar perfect.
  20. not a hard choice - s15's are nice, but its not an R. so much more potential in an R, but they will drink fuel and they will be prone to more problems given they are older. but hey, how do you put a price on fun.
  21. buying is one thing, but can you actually "afford" a performance car? insurance? fuel? tyres? oil? brake pads? etc etc etc...............
  22. erik, this oil filter won't fit your remote oil filter mount. you are best off just getting the model number of the oil filter thats on the remote filter mount you have on your car now and getting the same one always. your mechanic should have them in stock. i believe the one you need is to suit a toyota/ford.
  23. yes, usually discs do have to come off the car to get machined - new technology permits them to be done on the car now...how much did you pay out of curiosity? i had squeeling discs on the rear, had them machined and squeel went away. these were with stock discs and bendix crap-ultimate. totally understand how squeeling discs are annoying though.....................
