Wtb: Rhs Door Mirror (Preferably Silver)
danny_tq replied to sethaiyaar's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Hi Stuart What is the latest update on the mirrors? How is the positioning? I'm in a similar predicament, my passenger side mirror has snapped off (I was in the city one night, came back from dinner and the mirror was hanging off, I think someone might have kicked it off) I am also looking to buy from ebay from a US seller, but I am a bit concerned about the different positioning. I wonder if its possible to use the black housing and screw my silver mirror on it, would save me the hassle of getting it painted silver. -
Dodgy Mechanics - Experiences?
danny_tq replied to danny_tq's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
My intention wasn't to play them off against eachother. When the mechanic didn't want to breakdown the cost of the radiator and install - thats what rang alarm bells and the impetus behind me getting another quote. I was quated $790 for radiator + install which included a koyo radiator A v35 Koyo radiator from an australian ebay seller was $290 + $220 install costs from another mechanic - $510 Thats a $280 price differential! As a prudent consumer, it was my obigation to investigate! -
Dodgy Mechanics - Experiences?

Thanks for replies gents, its been a while since I've been on here, its a nice reminder of the 'community' vibe of this forum - enthusiasts helping eachother out. To answer some questions: DIY - Unfortunately I am not a DIY and don't have the time to learn (I'm flying out soon and need it fixed ASAP) My location - I used to live out at Parramatta, now I'm based in the inner west (Drummoyne) - I would prefer something local, if anybody knows of good JDM mechanics around the inner west let me know. Steam - The steam was coming from the front right hand side of my bonnest, presumably where the radiator is located. Km's - I changed the rotors/pads at around the 51,000km mark........I am now at 66,000km. The orignal rotors/pads were good for at least 51,000km, not sure why the repalcements wore so quickly (unless they were never replaced i nthe first place!) After letting my mechanic I know of another quote I got for the radiator replacent ($320 (radiator) + 220 (install) = $550), I received the following re-quote Service oil + filter - $160 Read brake pads + disc machine - $240 Front pads + new front disc rotors - $360 Raditor replacement + collant service - $575 ABS solenoid and system reset - $325 (my park brake, slip and VDC lights are constantly on, hence the need for the system reset) Total $1660 I am a reasonable guy and just want to pay market rate for what is being done Do you think the above quote is reasonable? I am thinking of taking it somewhere else, but feel inclined to at least let them do the service as they did do the original diagnosis. Cheers, Danny -
Hi all, So after 5 years with my 2003 v35 it starting to gradually breakdown. My engine started overheating on the weekend which prompted me to bring my car to a JDM mechanic on Parramatta road. Their diagnosis revealed: 1. Radiator was cracked and it needed replacing - Made sense, hence the reason why the car was over heating and blowing a bit of steam from the bonnet! 2. My front rotors and front/back pads were totally worn and need replacing - Did not make sense, as I got my front rotors and font/back pads replaced 2 years ago (July 2011) at a JDM mechanic based out West- cost me $1300 at the time. The car was on its original factory rotors/pads for a good 8 years before I replaced them. The 'new' mechanic was adamant that the rotors in the car were the original factory ones and that there was no way they were replaced 2 years ago unless I drive with the brakes on (which I obviously don't). Apparently it is possible to sand down rotors to extend their life. It appears one of the mechanics is doing a dodgy on me and I suspect it is the the original mechanic who installed the rotors/pads, as I suspect the current wants to milk me with an exxy radiator install ($790). Is it possible that one of my mechanics is taking short cuts or diagnosing unecessary problems? Does anybody have experiences like this? I think going forward I should request the receipt for all parts purchased instead of just the summary invoice provided by the mechanic.

Hi All, Part of the first wave of v35 owners in Australia. Abolsutely love the car, have owned it for about 5 years now....however it is now starting to fall apart Anyway was driving on the weekend and noticed smoke coming out of my engine! Long story short I took it to the local mechanic the next day, who informed me that I have a cracked radiator that needs replacing. They quoted me $790 for a koyo radiator, installation and coolant. Am I being a tad overcharged here? I came across the same radiator on ebay (local supplier) for $289: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RADIATOR-NISSAN-SKYLINE-V35-AUTO-MANUAL-2001-2007-KOYO-BRAND-NEW-/220872242160 I was thinking of buying this and paying for installation, so much question is what is a reasonable price to pay for installation (labour)? Thanks in advance Cheers, Danny

Hi All, Basically someone did a hit and run on my car about 7 weeks ago. Put it in for repair, still waiting for a front bumper to be imported from Japan 7 weeks later. I am basicallys ick and tired of waiting and really mising my ride! If anyone has an OEM front bumper in decent condition. My smash repairer will be willing to pay decent dollars (as long as its reasonable of course, maybe even close to market price of a new one). Anyway please PM or reply if you have one or know of someone. Cheers, Danny

This Cant Be Normal Can It?!
danny_tq replied to sethaiyaar's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Hi, Not sure if you have a log book of its service history etc. If not, it is possible the car may have done more than the KMs stated i.e. the odo may have been adjusted. -
congrats mate how good does the pop charger sound! I just my plenum,z-tube and pop charger on last week, I cant stop revving above 4000rpm such an awesome note will be interesting to see the dyno

I had a minor service at Pro Concept, with synthetic oil change for about $200. I would recommend them. Please do a search next time, there is like 3 threads on this.

ebay just do a search

some pics before and after.... before: after:

gents, the reason why I think fuel economy will decline..... is cause I keep revving it above 400rpm, to hear that awesome growl!
-
I got my service and install done at pro Concept West Ryde. They seem to be well regarded, and I agree. very professional. parts were: $295 for the motordyne iso thermal spacer $295 for z tube and pop charger. Standard install for spacer, tube and air intake is $140 But my spacer had an extra gasket and the popcharger had the heatshield...so was charged an extra 60 for the additonal labour needed ($200 total).

Just picked up my car from the mechanic last night. my car sounds so good above 4000rpm! I got a spacer, z-tube and pop charger installed. the pop charger sounds so awesome above 4000rpm....apparently these mods are meant to improve fuel economy...I can see its having the reverse effect! In terms of sound, I highly recommend. In terms of power gains? hard to say, Ill benchmark it against my mates car amd I'll find out

or we can get the v36 or 370z 247kw at the fly pre mods....I reckon we can get at least 260kw with mods!
