  1. ADGP is on....
  2. The DEFI gauges look pretty cool. Interesting that Nissan didnt just leave them the same as an R33 or an R32 GTR... And Yes I am stoked I have gauges any at all.
  3. Two cents, I am a big fan of DIYing, I'll give anything a crack but I can't stand finding other 'things' on the way to getting to the job I'm there for done. Stress sucks. I did spark plugs on my Stag recently, found two valley cover bolts that I thought were missing floating in the valley under the coils waiting to fall in. There was also a stack of little pieces of valley cover gasket floating around in there. If i hadn't done the slow and steady thing and grabbed my torch for a look instead of glancing i would have big rattley bits by now. The cam cover breather pipe between the two sides also had a massive split where it had been ripped up and off. All this was probably caused by the dealer's mechanic when they fixed the massive cam cover gasket oil leak. Stress, when I needed the car in the morning turned a forty minute job to a 2 hour double check job... I just alway seem to get in over my head on seemingly small jobs, only way to learn to swim though sometimes. Another recent example, new clutch and pressure plate with resurfaced flywheel for my stinkin Supra. Reassembled everything on my garage floor by myself, started it up on stands only to find I cant get clutch to disengage. Clutch 'expert' who had all my engine/gearbox specs and an old clutch to compare machined too big a step in my flywheel. Now my unlicensed shitheap that is trying to get sold, has a pedal on the floor that will just only disengage on the end of all the adjustments. uuuurrrgggg
  4. OK, I have been paying more attention to 33 GTRs in mags lately since getting my RS4s. I noticed a couple had Nismo gauges in the centre console which showed a much more useful stuff than mine: Its my white shirt reflecting not a scratch:) I have had a quick search and not found much other than these: http://www.nengun.co...skyline-r33-gtr R33 consoles also have a notch top right that the c34 dash doesn't... I would much rather a water temp than battery voltage and a more useable boost scale would be sweet. Are the sensors wired to the plugs in the dash or would i have to find a water temp signal? I do not want external gauges, I still like the torque split and my clock. Anyone know for certs?
  5. Just found the RWD diagnostic mode thread from ages back with the whole plug unplug brake pump sequence. Tried it, works, but my 235 michelins have too much grip, or I need more revs... Will become part of the standard starting procedure. Thanks.
  6. Yep, the front bar looks rs260 copyish but shes only a RS4S. I haven't seen your car but one of the dudes from instyle wanted a look at my rear windows to make masking easier on your car, or something like that...
  7. Balls, missed another day out. Hey 260rsstagea, is your car getting work done in Bibra Lake? I work around the corner.
  8. The way I understand the Attessa transfer case is that the rear shaft is directly coupled, and the front drive shaft is coupled via the wet clutch pack. So if the front diff is disconnected from the hubs and rear breaks traction it will pull/push the hydraulic actuator to clutch in the front diff more and more until its 100% not allowing slippage. The rear driveshaft will still be directly connected while the front diff output shafts just spin at the same speed as the rear wheels. You'll probably get flashy AWD error lights but I can't see physical damage occurring. I do not profess to having one of these apart for 100% certainty but I am a nerd... I could not see the point of having a second clutch pack slipping the rear driveshaft from the output shaft of the 5 speed. I have considered doing this myself so I had a good stare at the box on the jacks the other day, I was hoping to only have to remove the driveshaft from between the box and the front diff. Slip joint means no good into one end (cant remember which), has to be individual half shafts between front hubs and diff which was more work than I was prepared to do last Sunday arvo. EDIT: This has piqued my curiosity so I found this: http://vodpod.com/watch/5870104-nissan-skyline-gt-r-attesa-system-transfercase The shaft the dude is playing with at the end is connected from the output of the transmission to the rear driveshaft.
  9. Hey, I have a pair of 17s in my backyard that are never going to suit anything I currently own. They are Rays GRA EVO4 17x7 +35 multi fit. Tyres are average, Federal 235/45, quasi legal if you wanted to pull a skid but they have slow leaks in the valves from sitting around outside for ages. They probably best suit a Delorean so you could go back to 90s japan and roll hard but a stock kitted low S13 or R32 would probably look sweet. No centre caps.. Not really sure on a price, PM me a serious offer and I will get back to you. By the way I'm in Perth.
  10. Hyper R31??? Risley st Booragoon this morning...
  11. I have averaged somewhere between those two in my rs4s for the last 4 tanks. Keep boost guage in the neg, driving these things slow is freaking hard though....
  12. Couple of photos of Longroof. Fake RS260 bar on an RS4S Giant sideskirts kinda dont suit the rear... Failed rego inspection specifcation R32 skinny rim tuck for lols. Was so embarassed to be sitting in my car in line behind a 996 GT3 and a newish Jag XKR at the inspectors with tiny R32 rims about a foot inside the guards. The jag failed.
  13. Bump for Price drop (will take 3k) and swappage addition (will swap for JSpec rims in GTR Sizing, thinking CR kais or XD9s or similiar Rays).
  14. I have fixed up this Supra to a point where it needs to move on. It's on gumtree but thought i might try another location. It started out as a plan to be pulled apart as a parts car for my Cressida. I kind of changed my plan with the Cress, so I fixed up the Pupra, sold my Cress and bougt a Stagea. It has: - 3 litre turbo engine (7MGTE) - 5 speed manual - new clutch, pressure plate & machined flywheel - AU thermo fans - stealth black giant front mount inercooler - leatherish seats - new heater core - 17" rims and reasonable tyres (fronts aren't that flash but could maybe pass as legal) - 3" exhaust It doesn't have - working heater (suspect climate control module) - a legal steering wheel - a great battery - a R154 - LICENSE & REGISTRATION It was a GA70 (1GGTE) which was partially converted to 3L 7MGTE spec by the previous owner. Wiring has been converted so everything now works. I have got it to a driveable stage but its still unregistered serious offers around $3500 will be considered. Photos:
  15. http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-Toyota-Supra-3L-Turbo-Manual-W0QQAdIdZ309747483 Gratuitous plug, I am selling it, I am in WA, it does need rego but it sort of fits your criteria and its cheap. There are a stack of cheap fun cars on gumtree. I even saw a RB30'd KE70 unfinished project.....
  16. Hi All, Just seeing how much people have knowingly gotten away with getting their cars inspected? I ask as i need to get my Stagea inspected to get WA rego, I bought it from NSW. It came with nice looking V35 rims in the photos. The photos didn't show the wheel spacers, if I take the spacers off the back tyres rub slightly on the coilover lock nut. I dont really wanna rush to buy a set of rims I dont really need while the tyres are still good on it. I could probably drive it for one day as it seems to have 2-3mm clearance whilst stationary, must only rub on bumps or corners. If others have got away with them on..... Cheers. Shane.
  17. Tried taking spacers off my RS4S (manual), they were a dealer fitted bonus I didnt want. V35 skyline rims on the rears are 17x8 +33 and rub on my coilovers with 235/50. But with a bolt on 27mm spacer are perfect for guard clearance.. How the hell do I pass inspection for WA licensing next monday?
  18. OP here. RE: Seat space, my legs feel all bent up, still comfy though. Maybe I'm used to AU Falcon legroom, where I'd straighten my legs out then adjust the wheel backwards until my arms bent. My car has 27mm spacers all round and is about perfect for flushness, its needs to be 40mm lower to be hellaflush but at the moment it is hellafunctional... Current susp setup has zero bodyroll, I need to find out if I can adjust the damping though, rebound needs to be slowed down up front, kind of skips a little on bigger mid corner bumps up front if I'm being picky. Just checked swaybar size is around 25mm at the back. Debadged last night so now only have one Nissan badge in the centre of the boot. Still super stoked with the decision.
  19. Just thought I would start up a thread to roll through my first impresssions of Stagea ownership. So I sold my cressida on a whim with a vague idea of needing a wagon but wanted performance also. VE sportswagon with 6L and 6 speed wouldve been awesome but I couldnt stretch the budget. Stageas were about the only other car I considered. Being in WA I couldnt find a manual one so I bought this site unseen from a dealer in NSW. So far I am stoked, a few surprises but nothing major. I am astounded at how little space for passengers it has. Being 6'2" (mostly legs) I cant get the seat far enough back and then no one wants to sit behind my seat. But on the plus side with RS4S seats I wont ever have to buy Brides. It came with Cusco coilovers, the V35?? rims and a cat back. No sunrooves I guess the bodykit is a RS260 look, the skirts are huge but the back looks good and the whole lot must've been a late addition. I haven't seen the R33ish two round foglight indicator cluster things on any others. Pearl white was a bad choice, its like a panelled quilt in some light angles.. Drives awesome, gearbox is noisier than my independent inspector mentioned but apparently it'll be fine. Why must every WC34 I have seen have wheel spacers.. Glad i have a fuel card.
  20. It sounds like bearings to me, not grindy or crunchy. GTRSOL, sounds like mine has a similar issue. Its speed related not gear related, I can be rolling in neutral or in first and sounds the same, so I assume output shaft bearings. Its dead quiet whilst stopped in neutral with no feet.. Load it up and its quiet. I know its subjective but gotta ask before I go ringing up a dealer to tell him its a dud box. Gearbox oil will be tried first.
  21. Just picked up a manual RS4 Stagea, unfortunately it came from interstate so I have relied on inspectors to test drive. The one I ended up with the inspector said it had a noisey box but every GTR/skyline he had driven was talkative so I shouldnt worry too much. Can those with GTRs comment on how noisey their boxes are. Its loudest in first and second at walking pace, it sounds like fluid moving around and general bearing whine. It quietens down with load and once cruising its pretty good. My manual XF was noisier in fifth at cruise (worn gears) and this is about as loud but only whilst mooching. I am thinking I will throw an oil change at it and see what happens. It probably needs a general maintenance birthday anyway, if only I could get a jack under it.
  22. Its on its way..... Hope it lives up to expectations... pic related:
  23. Thanks for trying to sell me you cars from states even further away... Ended up sticking with dealers. I hope it goes on the truck tomorrow and is in WA by Friday but I think i will be lucky.... Better not be rooted....
  24. Sorry champ but your in tasmania... Thats a boat, truck then train....
  25. Hi All, Can anyone tell me how common surface rust is in sills? I am trying to buy a manual stag from over east ( I am in perth) and two cars i have got independent inspectors to have a look have found some surface rust in sills or boot floor. First one was worse than the second, though the second had been black duluxed underneath. The first had pretty bad bonus rust in the chassis side wall behind the strut top near the abs module... straightened out front hit? I am guessing these are snow region cars. How common are steering rack leaks? Should I: A) Wait, consider my inspection fees as gone to experience (still cheaper than flights) and try to wait for a clean one to come up B) Use it as a tool for haggling, and deal with it by not looking too hard underneath. I am mainly looking at dealer cars as I figure organising transport etc might be easier. Anyone selling an RS4S in Perth?
