World Time Attack Challenge 2012
rotort replied to handbrake's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
dam shame, I did have a photo of the MCA silvia looking like it was going to dig the left front rim into the bitumen going into T4 at the rear pit entry. Unfortuntaley it was a tad blury so I must have binned it with out thnking about it, dam. Didnt really get an image of Nemos tyres. I love the event, was unreal from a spectators/extreme car nuts point of view. Was very bored after the Cybers supposed blown rear diff episode, with the track closed for the best part of an hour, sat in the windy freezin cold at turn two waiting and waiting. Loved the effort put in by all, loved the noise thr panspeed RX8 made, yes I know its a rotory, but shit bricks, anything that you can hear all the way round the track is cool!! Good job they didnt have to meet the 96bd rulling!! Loved Big Red, and Russmans, see below, loved MCAs Silvia and of course Suzuki Unders oversteer issue, which seems like it must be costing him at least a second or two per lap!. Over all just loved the whole event, Heres a coupla pics for you skyline boys!! one for luck -

A Boy's Love For His Rb20
rotort replied to Roy's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Hey Roy, Love the build up, very inspiring, most brisbane and GC based RB20s get pulled out for 25s or 30s, ive always wanted to keep mine, nothing like the work gone int your tho. Some thougths on your brakes locking up, id say the front needs corner weighting, did it lock the right front on other corners, when it was inside wheel? It maybe that your ride heights are causing corner weights to be far to light on the passenger side causing the lock ups. How do you find the power, even after all of your experiments, it looks wuite drivable, power band of 4500 to 8000 i doubt you would drop off boost, so shoud be ok. Does it come on too strong for corner exit traction on faster corners in 3rd and 4th or only in 2nd gear lower speed corners? Keep up the good work, love it. Just wish I had the money to do what I dream of doing to mine. I want 250rwkw so a healthy 400 flwhp and then suspension and handling more than more power. My goal is for a set of MCA coilovers, I know his son so support should be good, and go from there. -

Hey All, The time has come, I have to let her go, my growing family requires the money. The 32 has been a project toy for over 2 years, and I dont want to let her go, But I dont have much choice. I have taken it drifting at QR a few times, and a few times at archy, great car, slide really well considering it doesnt have huge horsepower. The car has 128,000kms on it, I have only done about 6000 ( yes Six thousands). Since I have had it, I have done the following work to it. Fresh RB20 went in 10 weeks ago, with new belts, pulleys, gaskets, Cleaned injectors, fuel filter, oil filter, Oils 5 speed manual 17 inch Nismo/ Rays LM GT2 rims, 215/45/17 front, 235/45/17 rears tires are wearing Tein HA height adjustable coilovers, Rears rebuilt 18 months ago, new seals and thread sleeves, 1.5 way mechanical Diff, locks beautifully, brand new Heavy Duty clutch plate, HICAS lock bar, with lines plumbed back to pump, GTR alloy bonnet and grill GTR Fibre Glass front bar, skirts and rear spats, Apexi Pod filter, with custom air box, with Cold air ducting from front bar, 600x300 Intercooler in front bar, cold pipe heat wrapped to stop heat soak, I have been told its a 33 turbo, but I dont know for sure! TurboTech boost controller running 13PSI, 60x30mm Serck Oil cooler, with all SPEEDFLOW hoses and fittings, HKS oil cap Remote oil filter, Speedflow hoses and fittings, 58mm Alloy Radiator, with 12 Inch Thermo Fan, SSR radiator cap 3 Inch Dump back Exhaust, nice and quiet ( never had decibel reading), Rebuilt Alternator, Turbosmart Fuel Pressure gauge, Alloy rear cradle bushes (pineapples), GTR rear sway bar with Nolathane bushes, Front Strut Brace, ABS brakes ( rare on 32 GTsT's, Fuel Pump hard wired for 14 volts, increased pressure and reduced pressure drop off, Brand new Century battery last week, Fresh coil packs, all tested and in great condition, GTR seats, Water + Oil temp, Oil Pressure, Boost, and voltage gauges, Personal Euro Steering wheel, Brand new windscreen 6 months ago, Alloy Gear knob, JVC CD head unit, fusion 6x9s 5 inch fronts Two Loud Air Horns, Currently rego'd, with personalised plate, sell with out plates, May not pass roady due to the diff, so road worthy will be at buyer expense. Did have leaking ABS unit, so paint on chassis rails below unit has peeled away, had new unit installed a while ago, but I think this one is leaking too ( $200 for a new one), Selling due to young family, and needing the money. would like $12,000 for the car, all reasonable offers considered, please no swaps as I need the money not another toy, sorry Please PM or email to [email protected] I am located In Ormeau, which is just South Of Yatala ( South of brisbane, north of Gold Coast) In Qld

definitely not injectors, i have run the engine with each injector unplugged, all this did was made the noise even louder as the engine went off balance due to miss firing on 5 cylinders. so it is definitely not an injector, it is definitely mechanical noise rearward of the throttle body.
-
did you read the first post, it all about the lifters being changed and the noise didnt!
-
would any one know if the water control solenoid thing under the throttle body could be sticking or causing the noise?
-
could it be an injector? making such a loud noise? it is really loud!
-
thats what i thought but surely it wouldnt have kept on going for over a year, a hard year at that if it was a bearing causing it.
-
Can any one help I have a noisey head on my RB20DET, my self and many other have diagnosed it as noisey lifters clattering, I tried many different additives to try and quieten it down, with no luck, ive tried super thin oils, thick oils, I have changed all the inlet cam lifters (as its that side that was noisy)(comes from just behind the throttle body, so cylinder 4-5 or 6) and it just doesnt go away. It only makes the noise at idel and off the throttle, under power it only doesnt it at low revs. I am at a loss and just dont know what it is. I thought it must be a big end bearing, causing piston slap, or something more terminal, but i have been chasing the noise for over a year and the engine still goes strong, it has lasted multiple drift days etc. So it cant be to fatal, it just gets noisier. The engine isnt far off standard, just the usual, zorst filter, FMIC, boost, Oil cooler. I currently have Mobil 1 in the engine, going to try some thick stuff again, but I just dont know what next Any ideas Guys thank you. martin

just pull the abs fuse in the engine bay fuse box, i pulled mine after taking car on track first time, and just put it back in when back on the road, other bad thing about ABS is it basically gives you no brakes when going backwards, it just forces the pedal back at your foot
