Time for NA Power, the wait is over.....
pstanbis replied to NA_R33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ill say from experience that replacing the whole loom is easier PROVIDED its from the same, or at least similar, car. if you've got both wiring diagrams though, dans spot on - climate control alone would be enought to send me loopy ! :headspin: -
'86 L-Series Suby Sedan - 1.8 Litres of Automated-Carbouretted-C**P !! Gave it to my little bro when i got the '32.... just finished helping him put a EA-82T in it... Now manual AND turbo AND efi ... man it's fun now... not a GTR, but 4wd sceelies - WHOOHOO !! :burnout:

I know this will sound biased, but i have to say, most of the hooning that goes on around my neck of the woods is by young guys in Commodores / falcons. There is one twit in an import down here, but aside form that, most of the guys who own decent cars are pretty sensible sorts.... lets face it, if you pay $$$ for a nice car, trick it up a bit, and love driving it, your not likely to do some crazy-ass burnout with the high posiblity of causing some major damage to your baby.:boinkcar: all this aside, the law, in most cases, comes down to respect, alot of people say it, but don't seem to realise, it's gotta work both ways - If you'd just had a big night out, would you want some guy out front of your house trying to make his un-muffled, rice modified lancer break into the 10s ?:burnout: i doubt it. so sure, the laws seem harsh, and i agree that by driving distinctive cars, we're gonna get an unfair amount of attention, but as quite a few of you guys already pointed out, if you think BEFORE pushing the pedal just a little bit more... we'll all be fine and sorry to any mitsy guys out there, but ricey lancers

im with dan on this one - skyline + Gullwings = :headbang: sorry vspec34, but lets face it, you can only be just so hardcore, then you'ver gotta have some rice - wouldn't be jap without it ! no offence guys

haven't had much hassle with getting parts, but of course only the expensive aftermarket guys make bits for 'em - ie upgrades - and everyhting else is genuine, and genuinely expensive. example - air con relay (accident with a large spanner, don't ask) simple kinda 4 pin thing, hella one =$8 , but of course wouldn't fit in moulded block, nissan one, overnight from capital city (perth in this case) =$89 (managed to get trade, so $44, but still pricy)

good work NA_33 ! just a quick word on half cuts... (just finished a turbo conversion in my little Bro's L Series Subaru) Check how long its being sitting around, coz the radiators tend corrode when empty - get it thoroughly flushed.Do the same with the water pump - there buggers to get out once the engines in. just a couple of things i found out thrpugh experience - blocked water galleries in the block - pains in the a** to flush out ! best of luck anyway -
sorry dude, mine was already there... resonator cost me $120, extractors ~$350 i think ? can't remember exactly... the rest - gawd knows !
-
thanks for the info guys ! the car is a fully imported 4 door model - still can't work out what the exact model is, coz it's missing the bumper (not a bad thing though, the big black one looks kinda weird... ill let ya know how it turns out.

ok, i know this post is kinda cold now, but its sticky, so i thought i couold get away with re-opening it... just a quick question about some older model skylines... pre R30 etc. One of my mates just picked up a '78 line with a 2.8 Turbo EFI motor in it. The body is in really good nik, and for 1200 bucks its heaps of fun  (not to mention fast) but i was just wondering if anyone had any pics of some tidy examples of the same cars so we could see where to go with this one. Was also wondering if some of you real buffs out there knew what the original engine was, coz im fairly sure it wasn't an L28ET ! cheers guys phil

i guess i owe jez an apology too... sorry mate.... and thanks for the info greg... ill have to do some more looking and see if i can find out what it is !

what brand of rear muffler do you gouys use/recomend? i have some Jaz - Jazma ? -can't rember exactly, something like that - i guess it's some cheap Jap brand, but it is straight through, like the resonator, on the extractors with a full 3" cat also... just one major question, how would you fit an offset muffler in where ther is currently a straight through? ie how does this; | | | | goto this; | | __| | ??? given the way the pipe runs from the engine (tangled round diffs etc.) then fits into that little scallop out of the rear bar?
-
resonator is a definite, i agree. Forgot to ask what the guy who replaced mine was going to use - so i ended up with a lukey race hot dog thingy .... murder at 110kmh (open road limit here in WA) 3" pipe probly doesn't help... SEVERE overkill on 2L N/A....:looney: let us know how the change gos... might do the same thing :thumbdwn:

no shooting mate - if you don't ask, you'll never know! HICAS is (as far as my tech knowledge extends) :bp: is an active rear wheel steering that only acutates the wheels +/- 1 degree. Unlike the Honda 4WS, it only works at high speed (but mine did go kinda silly the other day - almost went straight over a round-a-bout) :headspin: and increases stabilty by turning the same way as the front wheels to 'slide' the car sideways not turn in sharper. kinda like : HICAS : / / / / 4WS: / / well thats as i understand it, and it certainly feels that way
