cheers mate, i actually have a mate that has owned a 34GT-T and has said this is much more "fun" to drive as you have that surge when the turbo kicks in and it is heaps more roomier inside. it also has the Torsen Differential, not an open, so it does lock when traction is lost, or cannot find appropriate traction -

personal import laws
SoarerGT-T Cruiser replied to a topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
sorry to revive a massively old topic, however.... i have a mate who is living in japan, can he "purchase" a car, have it registered in his name, he keeps it for a year, then i can "buy" it from him, have it shipped over and voila. i have a car not needing to go through SEVS. Is this possible? -
the title states, i'm selling my Eclispe Sub. it is an Aluminium Coned woofer, dual voice coil each coil being 2 ohm allowing for either 1 ohm or 4 ohm configuration. It is 450wRMS/900W max. I have no need for it now, coz i don't have a box, and unfortunately the soarer doesn't have alot of boot "real estate" that i can use. Price i am asking for is $200. Pickup would be preferred, i am located on sunshine caost, as it is a heavy mother, about 13kg. Pictures below, however i can post at buyers expense

William, Won't be slipping as there is nothing to slip, sounds like it could be your shif solenoids. check on the forum as there probably is a work around for the ECU codes. it is something like turn your car to acc, turn it off, and on again, then shif into neutral, turn it off, turn on again, then shift down through the gears holding your foot on the brake. or something crazy like that. Do you have an A/T light on the dash. if so that will probably indicate an issue, but run the diagnostics. if not just take it to Ron Hill in Kayleigh drive in maroochydore. really knows his stuff and can get the solenoids in overnight

i know for a fact that the alpine type S alpine subs are dual voice coil. The jaycar amp you have is a 2 channel. when you bridge 2 channels in an amplifier, you effectively half the resistance. normally in single channel mode you can run a 4 ohm speaker at 4 ohms, and a 2 ohm speaker at 2 ohms. bridging the amp will change this. as a result the least resistance you can run on a bridged amplifier (unless specified) is 4 ohms. as this will run the amp in 2 ohm mode. I am supprised that you didn't kill the amplifier with the alpine sub as the system would have been running in 1 ohm, probably giving an effective power output of anywhere between 800 and 1000w rms. and the amp would have been able to cook bacon and eggs . depending on how you want to go, you could run 2 dual voice coil subs (one of each channel) in 2 ohm mode, which will give 500 wrms or (starting to get more technical now) run each woofer in 2 ohm (voice coils in paralell) and then run both woofers in series (this will give an effective resistance of 4 ohms) meaning that you will get your 500w and probably not do any damage. However as everyone has said before, more power is better than less, but too much is just as bad as not enough. if that makes sense. just to remember, when working with equal resistances i.e. 4 ohm and 4 ohm, in series + > - > + > - it will give a resistance of 8 ohms so just add the 2 voice coil impedecnes together. when in parallell + > + and - > - it will give 2 ohms, just divide the impedences by 2 hope this helps

Hey do any of you guys know the chap on here that sells and installs mongoose alarms who is really good? thanks
-
ahhhhh, 4 weeks left. the beauty of working for queensland education
-
either a HKS EVC or a Blitz SBC both are great products, however i don't need to run one as my car will run 14psi naturally with my exhaust and intake mods :>
-
did someone take their turbo charade down? lol that's funny, don't know why they would bother. but atleast you can see it's performance compared to a decent import sounds like a good day was had by all
-
just been reading though this, and i noticed a comment "ohh and btw... the gearboxes in the 2jz and 1jz can't handle the power figur a rb25 can handle" quoted by Jjay, believe it or not the R154 can handle in excess of 500rwhp without a single modification, and the V160 and V161 supra 6 speed boxes don't need to be modified until 850+ rwhp, whereas the humble RB25 gearbox will start throwing 1st and second gear at about 400rwhp. back to the drawing board i think. my 2c worth
-
hey brad, your computer isn't working. it can't quote things properly. and if so, i would like to see that evidence. unless you are talking about 10HP at the wheels at the first dyno. And before we go into details. you did have a bigger fuel pump, and a front mount intercooler at that stage
-
lol 334door my car is no more underpowered than a 33 or 34 GTST. i have heard that queensland raceway is doing pretty good at skidpans and gymkhanas, and is really well priced. if you can get a group of 20 or so it is about $80 per person
-
Yay. Top of next page 85URK, as for skidpans up at gympie, it is a no go anymore. it is now purely a driver training centre. word is, insurance got too high and was too much of a risk (seing that it is such a small place). i think the only places that now do auto gymkanhas is Queensland Raceway and the Mount Cotton driver training centre. supposedly they do drift circles (put down diesel and water and slide away )

yeah mate, still got the soarer, modifications have slowed down a little, trying to track down a set of JDM electronic gauges, either DEFI, apexi or blitz, got a blitz pod the other weekend and need to make a full airbox for that. but other than that, not much has been happening. still sorting out (for next year) what turbo, manifold, ecu and injectors to go for. How have u been?
-
thus brad, you are using your own tears. renewable energy FTW
