Guys I have an issue. My GTS R33 cuts off on the track after about 10 laps. Checked the engine and electrics with the Consult II, everything is perfect. Checked the fuel regulators and return lines, everything ok. Looks like the pump itself is overheating because it is screaming after these 10 laps. This is supposed to be the uprated walbro fuel pump for the GTS r33. When I bought the pump from the shop, there was no paper or identification in the box. Are there standard walbro pumps out there? Is it possible this isn't the uprated one i got? or is it just crap? If not, how to solve the overheating fuel pump?

Living in Dubai, the Consult is difficult to find. Lo and behold I found a garage that has one for my r33 98 model. Did the test, the electrics are perfect, AFM is ok. The problem turned out to be the fuel return (fuel pressure regulator) which I will be checking in the next 2 days.

well gentlemen, let's not overcomplicate things. R31_pwr how do u know that D2s don't have R&D put into them? comeone fellas, we all know who the big players are and many people fall into the trap of paying the extra 1,000 bucks. there are people that bash teins, ohlins etc..I know a guy who suggested buying USD 20,000 suspension saying they were the best. By the way D2s are not cheap, I think they are reasonably priced rather haha..let's not get corporate...but anyway who knows I probably will try the others as time goes by and the track gets more serious. By the way we're doing trackdays in Dubai at the Dubai Autodrome. Roy I think you were faster due to skills maybe, but let's not forget NA are generally lighter than the GTSt. Also luck plays a role as well as he may have slipped for a split second which accounts for the time difference. I think my current Marshal KU17 92W R16 are ok but I might need to upgrade to steel re-inforced side walls. I am working on the car, have been for 4 months now and there always seem to be improvements to be made.

Very easy to install, maybe 1 hour work. If you're in australia there are many dealers in your area. I suggest that rather than buying on ebay. Safer. I dropped the suspension by about 10cm (4 inches) really easy

Just installed my new RACE TRACK spec D2 coilovers on my nissan gts r33 98 model (only drive it on track days), took it down to the track and the car literally sticks to the ground, huge improvement for a reasonable price. I found that the harder I adjusted the damping the more stable it got on corners. The Maserati behind me was all over the track going off the chicanes it was a laugh. But my car cuts off so given up after a few laps. Rear: 3.0 turns from hard Front: 2.5 turns from hard. Will try harder settings next time.

Thanks for that GTS4WD. I didn't put in a new fuel tank and don't have a fuel pressure regulator. What I have done is change the fuel pump from standard to a walbro. I did that because the car was doing the same thing, so I assumed that the pump couldn't keep up. When I did change the pump the problem continued. All topics on the forum are leading to the Air Flow Meter. The symptoms the car has look like an AFM problem. Spoke to the garage here and he said the car runs ok after switching off and on again because the computer erases the memory reading, which explains why the car takes me to the pit after switching off and on again. If it was fuel related, the problem might remain constant. Another thing is that the standard fuel pump did the same thing. When I upgraded to a walbro the problem persisted. Will install my friend's AFM and see how it does. If problem persists I will look at the return fuel lines etc.

I found this is the manual, but it doesn't elaborate. file attached. another member on another post had this to say: "sounds like you'll need a surge tank. not really a common issue - but it does happen. i have no problems without one and i would think that i hold more sideways Gs than most people. 15 laps is a fair bit though, i would hazard a guess that the tank would be no where near full." another friend of mine asked to check the fuel return line as that may be blocked, therefore making the pump run lean skyline.doc

No I haven't earthed the wolbro to the body, just did all the connections and dropped it into the tank. should that be a problem? trying to look at the manual to check ur point.

Nissan R33, GTS NA 1998, running very nicely, after 15 laps, power loss and no response from throttle and behaves as if fuel starvation. fuel pump sounds as if running full capacity (screaming) and will not rev over 2000RPM. Have to turn off and restart to get to pits. If car is allowed to cool down for half an hour, can get one full lap with full power then fault recurs fuel pump is an uprated wallbro, new fuel lines, filter, tank full. No fault codes pop up, no over heating, car runs fine and very strong

no not so common. am hoping to get to the bottom of this asap. U r right that the tank is half full when this happens. But when I enter the pits and refill the problem persists. I actually thought the tank had emptied when this first happened and thought the fuel indicator was giving a wrong reading but I discovered otherwise.
