  1. updated. reminder here is current list of people (both via sau, pga, and the website directly): http://www.ecutalk.com/consultlcd/lcdorders.php and this avi shows the blue screen: http://www.ecutalk.com/consultlcd/consultlcd.avi the screen was slightly covered to keep competing light out, keep that in mind that you wont be able to place it anywhere in direct sunlight (or other bright competing light). can always send it back to be swapped over to a green one for cost of postage if you dont like the blue.
  2. no worries osman ive put you down for blue. still need to update thread to v2 stuff, maybe next weekend currently we're about a 50/50 split for blue/green lcd so this might mean blue will only be +$5 over the green rather than $10 (due to higher quantity)
  3. does that mean you wont need one, or will i keep you on the list? ive added you. end of next month is still possible (although i havent yet passed the design stage with any enclosure makers yet, this 4th one are moving fairly quickly so im a bit more confident this time, but with all the other delays by the others places i wont be counting any chickens) they're practically done, except for the enclosure. ive got about 95 of them sitting in the room, just need cable assembled, screen plugged in, firmware put on the chip, and then stick them in an enclosure. ive added you to list. done
  4. wont work with powerfc or other aftermarket computer, only stock ecu (daughterboard ok) time trials = 0-60km/h, 0-100km/h, 400m, etc. i edited last post - idea could be to set track distance and it would time each amount of distance. a mate + stopwatch + odometer = cheaper lap timer though really there are functions that more people would use tht would need to be done before any fancy lap timers, but as the firmware is updatable by user, means its pretty easy for me to release updates to add new features.
  5. yes its still estimated to be $200 (+$10 blue screen, $7 postage within aus) it can do time trials, not lap times (no idea how the car is supposed to know when you do a lap - maybe if you entered the distances or something, perhaps an idea for future update) yes it has a 'few' other bits and pieces battery voltage, economy, injector duty cycle, ignition timing, AAC %, o2 sensor, coolant temp, AFM, TPS trip meter - showing av speed, current speed, av fuel economy, current fuel economy, distance travelled, fuel used, litres per hour then theres the fault codes, options to switch between metric/imperial, control of LCD brightness, contrast, and has USB consult interface if you want to hook up your laptop. and theres probably other stuff, cant remember! see first page of this thread and then http://www.ecutalk.com/consultlcd.aspx for differences from V1 display. ive added u to the list
  6. ok so now ive got a 4th(!) enclosure place started on making enclosures...this is becoming a bit of a joke, its like they all somehow know each other and have organised to 'lets just do nothing for this guy, how funny would that be!'. needless to say that having them ready this month is not really possible anymore. need target i guess is end of next month! firmwares got maybe 1hr worth left to change it over from 40x2 to 20x4 so will be no problems there (prob done by this weekend). if people want to let me know their preference for blue/green lcd screen (just post in this thread or pm me), because i need to order the right ratio of screens, and the boards need a different resistor depending on colour. doesnt matter if you change your mind about colour later, just need a gauge on what screens people generally prefer. remember you can checkout the blue screen in this avi 4.2mb from a couple of years ago. thats fairly close to what it will look like in general ambient light (worse in direct sunlight, better at night/low light). all aim to update thread to 'v2' display (ie first post etc) sometime this weekend
  7. theoretically if you know what memory address in the ecu that the ecu uses for whether its in safe mode or not, then you can monitor that, but im not sure its generic (location could be different for diff cars) and it will just be a yes/no, not an amount. a knock lite or similar would probably be the best choice.
  8. you should look into something like nistune for stock ecu, might convince you to keep it so did u want to be added to the list
  9. you sure its 55? 55 is the error code for 'there is no error'. 34 is knock sensor afaik.
  10. ive got a 2nd plastic place also working on an enclosure, i reckon 1 out of 3 places should have something in next 4-6 weeks! dont want to have to get ball rolling with a 4th place! i should have gone with this 3rd place from the start - their turn around times were about 2 months (back in feb) and i thought "so they wont be done till april? thats too long!" - and forgot about them. contacted them the other day and leadtimes are closer to 4-6 weeks so ill get them starting on a design this week. reminder that the start of this thread has all info relating to the v1 group buy - i should start a new thread for V2 ones soon.
  11. you have consult software for PDA's (pocket pc), and then theres standalone things like ecutalk lcd display, ecudatascan, techtom/blitz/greddy displays though you cant modify your tunes
  12. once ive got all demand covered i might get some form of DIN mount made up that it can slot into, though this would be the 'ears' you talk about (unless u meant ears would be empty space). leaving that to last because users themselves may come up with good ideas for mounting (even modifying din pockets for the display to slot into)
  13. its an OBD2 thing, so V35/V36 skylines http://www.blitz.co.jp/new-product/r-vit_i-color.pdf
  14. din is roughly 180x50, so it will be less than single DIN size. im not making it full single DIN size because not everyone would mount it in DIN, and it would cost more for "empty" space.
  15. unlikely, unless the ash tray is nearly din size its around 140w by 50h (probably end up a bit smaller than 50 high)
  16. V1 users, you can send back your displays for upgrade to final v1.0 firmware, which adds the trip meter screen. more info on the website V1 displays can be traded in for $100 off a V2 display. And here's a rather dodgy phone picture of a prototype metal enclosure. Note that the LCD isnt secured to the metal box in this image, and its sitting a bit high, and the holes for buttons/USB are slightly larger than needed.
  17. yeh metal would be painted black (perhaps a few white) theres a chance id go both - get 100 metal, and then say 50 or less plastic - but that would mean theres more than $15 difference as the plastic will cost more for lesser quantity. (maybe say $185 vs $210) whichever one is ready to be made first will probably be the one im more likely to go with, as its been forever and then some waiting for the enclosures design/manufacture
  18. yes they work on all nissans with consult port with stock ecu, which includes the s14, s15 (and sr20 s13) silvias
  19. would people prefer a plastic enclosure similar to the last lot, or a metal one? would be similar size etc, though the metal one would have holes on front to screw lcd onto (plastic would be all snap together, no screws), would weigh a bit more metal one may end up ~$15 cheaper ill try get pictures of the metal prototype soon
  20. all you need is a usb/serial consult interface (depending on whether ur laptop has serial port or only usb). plmsdevelopments.com and blazt.biz both have them also on ebay there's a blazt one: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...A:IT&ih=008 all you do is turn car on, plug the cable in (make sure u know what com port its using, check out port section in start-run-devmgmt.msc) and then choose the com port in the software and rest should be easy. the diy cable could only really be made with the diy kit (which ive run out of ages ago), since it has a custom pcb. ill probably get a batch of usb cables done at some point after i finish the consult lcd displays (see group buy forum), probably towards end of year.
  21. sorry anyone who downloaded it before 5:10pm (GMT+10) today would have got a broken file. should be working now ECUTalk v1.3.3 - Changes from v1.3.3 beta4 below: #42 Removed console output for few users who have a console setup on their PPC #55 Trip meter sensors shouldn't keep 'counting' while car is turned off #58 Prevent 'clicking' show gauges button with keyboard when gauges already shown #69 PPC users can now utilise the 'working area' option and the LTRB option (ini setting) #70 Changed default 100ms max refresh to 40ms (equivalent of 25fps) Complete list of changes from v1.3.2 on the Version History page.
  22. at some point i hope to be able to define some interface that people can code their own 'gauges' for use in ecutalk software, eg a bar guage or whatever
  23. ive added you to the list, will contact you when available
  24. but does use mean the fact its on, or that you're actively using it? if you start music, gps, whatever playing before you start driving, is that then using it? yes the device is being 'used', but are you 'using' it?
