  1. here is a beta of ecutalk v1.3.3 ive been working on, has auto reconnect on connection lost, and some new sensors. as my car is out of action, i need help testing whether the new sensors (distance, fuel used, trip economy) have been implemented correctly http://www.ecutalk.com/downloads/ECUTalk_v1.3.3_beta2.exe
  2. "sold" is more accurate than "sells", since there's no more available! better to stick to blazt ones rather than DIY ebay jobs, unless you have that circuit is calumsult one, calum on sr20forum made those DIY kits which were supposed to be "DIY", not to be whored on ebay by someone trying to make a buck off someone elses work. http://www.sr20forum.com/rom-ecu-tuning-fi...tester-box.html answer these: what com port is ur usb/serial adaptor? what brand is it? what drivers are you using? where did you get them from? are you using that com port in any programs you're trying out? have u tried other consult software? (ecutalk, tecu, calumsult?)
  3. that looks like it, thanks.
  4. sorry not 0.5, i get 3.5ohms when short leads on bog standard cheapo having one which can zero out the lead resistance would be a good start
  5. the relative thing sounds good. though on small circuit boards, im not sure if the resistance on tracks that are like 1cm long would be in the range of 0.1ohms an example of where id use it is ive got 5 of the tiny smd boards from the consult cables that dont work, almost certainly because of shorts somewhere in the smd soldering working on an update for ecutalk atm
  6. at uni a few years ago, one of the electronics guys had a "really expensive" multimeter which measured ohms very accurately - ie accurate enough to find short circuits in circuit boards etc. now the only multimeters ive ever owned have no where near any kind of accuracy close to 0 ohms...ie shorting the leads gives u 0.5ohms and definitely no precision. most of the need for the multimeter would be detecting points of short circuit, secondarily all the common stuff, and optionally a frequency counter/measurer. any suggestions?
  7. btw i just tested ecutalk 1.3.2 on my desktop with vista (normal com port, not usb/serial converter) and it works fine? for anyone it doesnt work for, have you got all windows updates etc installed?
  8. ive already put thru a $50 donation via control panel (so there is no donate option there) so i was wondering how to manually donate? (its $24 for the 12 people who bought an ecutalk cable who hadnt donated to SAU)
  9. if u want to send an email to contact at ecutalk.com and just ask to be notified when lcd display is ready - but almost certainly will be posting a thread up for it closer to the time
  10. just letting everyone know all the cables are now sold and unfortunately there are no more available for any of the remaining reserves - im certainly not planning on making anymore plain consult cables (will be working on my lcd display). as such ive removed the remaining reserves from the list (and sent them a pm to let them know) you can get a cable that just works same as mine from http://blazt.biz for around $100AU delivered ($86US), or you can hold out a few months for the next version of the ecutalk consult lcd display which will cost only ~200-230 and will have consult cable integrated, so u can use it just like a normal cable and hook up to laptop etc (more on that later).
  11. drivers footwell/knee fuse box, not the engine bay
  12. maybe uve got early r32 doesnt support consult? what year/month is it? also if u can get to it, whats the 23710-xxxxx code on ur ECU
  13. maybe attached to the top of the fuse box?
  14. final 2 cables sent today. there will be probably 1 extra cable available for the first reserve, just need to assemble it
  15. guess it pays to really be 100% sure when you're 100% sure, hey
  16. ecutalk consult lcd display - http://www.ecutalk.com next version of the display due in a few months. price around 200-230.
  17. generally the only order thing should matter is if u have usb/serial it needs to be connected before some consult programs are opened so they can detect the port. ECUTalk doesnt detect ports anymore as some port detect will lock up certain pocket pc's - you just manually select the port u want to open.
  18. consult cable (ie consult interface, not the connector in car) doesnt need check - its only used for manual diagnostic features (ie shorting it with ign to get MIL bulb flashing or something). check wiring with a multimeter to check continuity (ie that its only a few ohms from ecu to consult port) to make sure wiring isnt cut or disconnected anywhere.
  19. it would be better to check the consult port wiring than wiring the cable direct to ecu (unless u mean wirign a consult port direct to ecu)
  20. your ecu should support consult (89/9-90/12) check wiring from consult port to ecu is good check you have power at consult port you can use this pinout of consult port along with ecu pinout to check it http://www.ecutalk.com/images/consult_car.jpg you have stock ecu right?
  21. it will occasionally, eg when coasting in gear with no throttle (depending on car/ecu it will cut injectors - ie max lean) even just normal lean deceleration may be enough to get it that low (ie even without cutting injectors) only be concerned if its always 0.0...if it moves around, no problems
  22. try srtalk http://www.zcontrol.net/Default.asp also datalog dyno but needs a few things installed: http://www.neoed.servaus.net/DatalogDyno.htm or obdscantech (free version has popups every 10s) http://obdscantech.cjb.net/
  23. its in the readme link http://www.ecutalk.com/interface/readme.html
  24. other people have commented that ecutalk doesnt work with vista im guessing by the sounds of things, tecu doesnt either? (you set it to COM2 i assume) ill have a .net 2.0 version of ecutalk in a month or two which may work better with vista. when i get a new pc setup by end of month ill try dual boot etc with vista so i can try and make sure ecutalk works with it. tried calumsult? try conzult_free and nissan datascan (can use the dash without buying it) http://202.43.226.57/NissanDataScan1_52.zip http://300zx-twinturbo.com/conzult/software/free_conzult.exe
  25. the cable ive been waiting on to make rest of these has arrived today - will have a go at getting all remaining ones done this weekend Peter
