  1. also, when you look at someones trader rating page, the links at the top "view comments left by..." and "return to database index" are missing the index.php? in the URL (its just blah/act=... rather than blah/index.php?act=)
  2. no they dont, for a few reasons: 1) connecting them together normally is a tight fit...if you pulled on the cable, it would come out from the usb port 20 times easier than the serial port connection would disconnect 2) the screws on the connector, if they were put in, arent thumb screws, youd have to get a mini flathead to screw it 3) and most importantly, the male connector on the usb/serial doesnt have any socket for the screws to go into (theres a hole, but it doesnt grip!)...which makes it rather pointless just push them together tightly and theres no way its coming apart unless u want it to. on a side issue, the consult cable doesnt have a strain relief in the connector (the usb/serial does), so to disconnect it you should always use the connector, not yanking the cable
  3. can u confirm its using the FTDI drivers and not built in ones? (eg device manager->ports->right click the usb com port and look at properties->driver details)
  4. good to hear if the usb/serial converter u got worked with the drivers there, it must have been an FTDI one, which is good! do you have a link to which one on ebay it was?
  5. btw sorry to the first two guys - i wrapped your cables with normal tape (to keep it flat for postage) which will leave them a bit sticky. will use packaging/masking tape for rest so that doesnt happen thanks for the pics!
  6. added u to reserve list
  7. will contact you when yours is available, probably by early next week
  8. i should get it on wed then
  9. ive contacted first 2 people for payment. more will follow in next few days
  10. note: all interfaces are accounted for! (doing this on 3 other forums, which together have covered all available interfaces) additional people can only get one if someone already on the list pulls out. since we got close (but not over) the 20+ ($55) threshold: 1) anyone who's donated to SAU will get the interface for $55 incl postage. 2) anyone who hasnt donated to SAU will get the interface for $60 incl postage. ill donate $2 on behalf of each of these people (who havent donated) note: those who've requested a USB/serial converter, will get their cable and converter after (later than) others, if i dont have time to get the usb/serial cables done as soon as the cables (which my brother will most likely be doing) here's some pics. can see the bags of pcb's i just received back from manufacturer today. have a few more parts coming in next week. each cable has two pcb's which "stack" on top of each other inside the connector (left one goes on top of right one as shown just above the two sets).
  11. no, no problems with r33, so long as whats covered in main post is the case (ie u have stock computer, not aftermarket, havent butchered wiring or done a engine transplant and messed up consult wiring etc).
  12. ive been receiving emails, at least these last two. site was down for a bit, maybe you didnt get a few (or any?) since then. check out feedback forum and see if anyone else having issues with it ROM dumping = downloading rom contents via consult (often used when you want to modify ECU with a daughterboars so that you can edit your fuel/timing maps, remove speed limits and such). consult itself is read only, cant remap your ecu with it or make any permanent changes check out this thread: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=143835
  13. well the interface itself will be compatible, but who knows what software works on vista yet? someones already reported ecutalk doesnt for them, so id say theres a reasonable chance it wont work for anyone on vista. id imagine "some" consult software may work, which that is, who knows. so im afraid youll have to decide yourself on that. worse-case scenario that nothing works, i should have a compatible ecutalk version by say, end of july? also: Software - will NOT be provided on a cd - can be download from here note the change there - CD's will not be provided, as this would add a $4 or something to shipping as it would no longer be classed as a "letter" but a "parcel"
  14. just got confirmation the boards are being sent out from manufacturer. so should arrive friday, which will allow assembly to start on weekend. so the expected May 14 (Monday) start date will be when I will start contacting people for payment (subject of course to there being no errors/problems with boards, wont know till i get them and test it out) number of people confirmed by 9AM on Monday will determine price. if we subsequently go over 20 people (but not before 9am monday), SAU will get $5/interface sold, which somewhat make up for all of those who havent yet donated!
  15. i dont think nissan will accept a 404 link..try upload the image in ur post
  16. i can actually make 1-2 prototype ones, with the normal black enclosure, except it will just need a bit of black tape on ends to ensure it doesnt pop open (shouldnt anyway, but just to be sure). you can see how theres a bit of a gap where the bits join. it would be $190+post for that the next batch, im considering changing straight away to a 20x4 setup (rather than doing another lot of 40x2 characters setup same as this one) which isnt as long, has buttons on front, and would fit in a DIN slot (<50mm high) if required. eg 125x45mm (rather than 188x39mm like current one). price of next lot would be determined by how much the plastic enclosures cost, maybe around $220 mark? theyll be as cheap as i can make them, cause everyone should have one! the next batch will be, at this stage, around september mark.
  17. dunno, i just push the buttons! google says black: http://www.google.com.au/search?sourceid=n...ssan+kh3+colour if it says AT, then its probably not factory manual i think HB is meaningless, given there are no alternatives/other options to HB (unless its optional something)
  18. parts have been received by the place doing board manufacture/assembly, still looking at either side of the weekend of 12-13 May for when boards are received, then a couple days from then for when first interfaces will be available (need the cable/connector assembled)
  19. u sure com3 is right? also what .net framework version and updates have u got installed? (if you know). got all windows updates applied? id probably need to get vista installed to work out what the issue is. maybe have a try of all previous versions on the site and see if any work, or see where the others fail at.
  20. changed u to confirmed also default cable length will be 200cm (as this will make it easier to route behind dash and come out the glove box and reach passenger seat)
